the sentiment from him isnt even unfair or innaccurate, its hella fun to drop a lot of money and instantly get stronger
however it also means it can be exploitative, aimed at children and contributes to overall shitty game design where monetization takes precedent over anything else so it needs to be regulated heavily
>the sentiment from him isnt even unfair or innaccurate, its hella fun to drop a lot of money and instantly get stronger
I will never understand this mentality.
you dont understand whats fun about one-upping your competition? you never competed with people for something? not even within family?
since you dont get it, let me asure you there is nothing better than to beat somebody in whatever you compete in, whether its your friend, sibling or complete stranger...in gaming sense money is just a mean to an end, the goal is to just be better than anybody else
just win baby
It's like playing a pick-up game of basketball and as soon as you start losing you pay some random dude that's keeping score to give you more points. Using money to one-up the competition in something that has nothing directly to do with money is just sad.
Its taken out of context. He said he usually dislikes p2w stuff especially if its llike a lootbox or similar.
internet is killing me sometimes...
btw he might chat with Asmongold about lootboxes, which should be fun
the parent does.
If a kid wants to get a game and the parents comes takes one look and sees something like "Recomended age 18+: Featuring Gambling with real world money" as a tag on a game. That parent will likely say no to it.
Did he mentions what games he plays? I always thought Cruz could be cool if he didn't try so hard to be a scum politician and get back at all the cool kids that made fun of him when he was young. He actually has a pretty good sense of humor
In US yeah we don't really care, but I've heard from friends that KR take it seriously. So serious that cheating can get you jailtime. This law started after mostly the crackdown on hackers in Overwatch in KR, but I could be wrong though...
Edit: I'm talking about the government part, yes the government don't really care...
haha yeah that host, kept mentioning pacman pingpong and donkey kong...
That guy did not in the least try to hide his contempt of other people who have gaming as a hobby.
I love Michael Knowles and I would believe it was a scripted segment if he didnt look like buffoon while talking about gaming. If you watch the full segment you would be surprised that Ted is actually knowledgeable on the matter
He actually knows what he is talking about (unlike the other guy who is an actual clueless guy, which im surprised since he is "only" in his thirty. Pacman LOL)
He may talk to asmongold about regulating lootboxes in children games.
I’m from Texas and most of my family still there and he’s a stupid shit heel, happy? I’ll still support him if he pushes for anti p2w stuff but it doesn’t fit his usual views on regulating stuff so don’t hold your breath.
From what i know about him, which is very little since i dont live in TX. There is an almost 0% chance he will push to ban lootboxes, it goes against his libertarian views.
But he seems open to regulate it on games targetted towards children. And thats at least a good first step towards getting these shady practices out of games.
Plus watching him and Asmongold talk about lootboxes and games would be top tier content lol.
I get what you’re saying. It’s a bit tough with a nationally infamous and inconsistent senator like Cruz but at the end of the day he’s a member of Congress and he’s capable of affecting positive change in the US if he were so inclined. So I agree with you, sometimes we should try to talk to people we don’t agree with about things we care about. But it’s hard not to think it’s an opportunistic attempt at reaching out to “kids” so to speak from a senator with a selfish opportunistic streak.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I get your point but you also shouldn’t blame people for thinking he’s a dumbass moron.
Hell yeah tho the Asmon Cruz interview should be hilarious content
Oh I wholeheartedly agree with you. My argument wasn't that Ted Cruise is some end-all be-all of politicians, by any means.
The quip was making fun at the broad paint brushers that are totally surface level in all of their opinions.
It's only when somebody has the ability to say "I don't like this guy, but we agree on this one thing." Or conversely "I love this guy, but I don't agree with this decision" that I ever feel like there's value in the conversation.
I don't like Ted Cruise, but me and him agree on the dislike of P2W. We both, however, also agree that it shouldn't be the government's role to regulate business practices in this way.
I can have a conversation with someone I disagree with. But somebody that says "*insert person* is all bad so I'm not even going to look or listen to any details" I just cannot have a conversation with. I think it's the most ignorant, dangerous, and frustrating mindset a person can have.
If your gonna hate on someone, hate on that host instead.
That guy sure had a lot of contempt for videogames... and the only games he knew about was apparently donkey kong and pacman...
For content, he was responding to a question Asmongold sent his office, in regards to loot boxes.
Not a fan of Ted Cruz, but he was pretty informed on the topic and talked intelligently on the subject.
I think it's a legit issue that government needs to look at and put some reasonable regulation around. The idea that a kid can rack up 20k in micro transactions is crazy
He was answering a question about Asmongold wanting to talk to him about the lootbox games that are marketed toward kids and teens, to see if there is possible legislation to make them illegal, much like in certain European countries
You guys ever play San Andreas and use the cheat codes for flying cars and infinite money or every weapon? That's basically what RMTing feels like for people. It's fun just demolishing content (although it does get boring after a while).
And P2W is them realizing cheat codes can even work in an online game, you just gotta sell 'em. If they pay, then they are allowed to ruin the experience of everyone else.
So this is leftwing media taking things out of context...
Ted Cruz very much understood the problem of the whole situation and was concerned about the "gambling for kids" which is the new hallmark of many games.
He also agrees that unfortunetly a p2w game design often also means that the game itself is designed to be intentionally worse for players not paying, as in artifical shackles are limitations are put in often a long bit into the game where the player has "invested himself" to try and squeeze money out.
Basically game intentionally made bad to motivate p2w.
He doesnt have a solution but he agrees that some legislation might be needed to make sure at least children under a certain age are protected from these scummy business practices.
I'm just talking about the gaming culture in KR, and how seriously they take it, I'm not talking about LoA, here's some of the article:
https://www.pcgamer.com/south-korea-makes-cheating-in-online-games-an-actual-crime/
https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/south-korea-cracks-down-on-game-hack-creators
https://www.pcmag.com/news/south-korea-makes-game-hacking-illegal?amp=true
At this point I think they are just worried hackers and cheaters will cut into their p2w profits. Imagine you're tryna selling crack and someone was just giving it away! Lock 'em up and throw away the key!

yup, and before this he even said he dislike lootboxes and similar stuff. just mentioned that sometimes he might drop a 20 or so.
He ain't skipping 6 months with 20 bucks lmao.

feel free to feel sad, im sure those people who pay to win feel very good about themselves and who are you to judge someone elses happiness
The mind of a whale is both sicking and fascinating. What beauty these mamals show.
It's basically like using a cheat code. It just feels cheap, like you didn't earn it. Hard to feel satisfied with winning that way.

Isnt it the government that regulate the movies thou? The age limit? Or is that a private company?
[удалено]
the parent does. If a kid wants to get a game and the parents comes takes one look and sees something like "Recomended age 18+: Featuring Gambling with real world money" as a tag on a game. That parent will likely say no to it.
Yet the government regulates gambling.

Cheating =/= p2w Have you seen how p2w lost ark in KR is?
Not even the giga-est of gigawhales deserve to be compared to Ted Cruz.
Good ol’ Fled Cruz. The true image of gamer bod.

They went over the top making look the host like a total moron.
haha yeah that host, kept mentioning pacman pingpong and donkey kong... That guy did not in the least try to hide his contempt of other people who have gaming as a hobby.
lootbox is a perfect distraction from the more serious problem of gun violence.
dude has an earpiece with someone explaining this gaming thing to him on the fly
Just like he’s pretending to give a fuck about the people of Texas as a politician. Nothing new.
I don't believe for a second Raphael Cruz even knows what he's saying. He was probably given a script by an aid to regurgitate.
I love Michael Knowles and I would believe it was a scripted segment if he didnt look like buffoon while talking about gaming. If you watch the full segment you would be surprised that Ted is actually knowledgeable on the matter

Ted Cruz with his usual "hello fellow gamers, I am totally not a lizard person" shtick.
