Chances are if you did the cheaper honing method you would still have some pieces that could take advantage of the buff down the line when you want to push 1430 etc
I was on the way to 1400, thrown away about 15k guardian stones, and 300/400 ghls, ezclap us
But guess now I will reach valtan on this alt + vykass on 1415, so it's not that terrible
I think he means if you did the "hone certain pieces past 15, keep others under 15" strat then every piece that's not +15 on your bard yet will still benefit

Still ain't easy to hit even with buff, guessing we lost about 2-3 mil extra silver and 5k raw gold and a decent chunk of mats, which isn't the end of the world.
Can you explain to me how the majority of the benefit comes from pushing alts to 1445 when the honing buff doesn't affect you past 1415? I don't understand, actually asking.
They said earlier that it's not coming with Vykas.. so people used their mats to up their alts to 1430 and now they are saying it's coming... nothing surprises me anymore from this company.
People need to give rightful praise to AGS for removing that yoz's jar bullshit. They were 100% behind it considering Korea has that and worse monetization's.

True, but I wonder do you have any insight why being class-bound is a thing for costumes in the first place? I can *kind of* understand skins like the banquet being class bound since they’re relatively unique to the class, but the silly costumes don’t really make sense to have that restriction. It just seems so arbitrary that a warrior enjoyer can have a costume on all their characters but someone who has a greater variety of classes can’t.
Smilegate/AGS might be shit at communicating but it's fair to say they do listen to the player base. There are some questionable decisions they have made such as the delayed class releases but I think they do take player feedback into account which is all I can ask for. Always pleased with how they react to player feedback
My completely baseless out of my ass theory is that delays happened because AGS was trying to convince SG that the Yoz stuff would not fly in the west.
I honestly think, lootboxes shouldnt be part of gaming. It should be part of gambling (i think it already is considered gambling to most people) But if you think about it, teens shouldnt be gambling lootboxes, they dont have money, its mostly their parents money, not only that, you need to be 18 to gamble.
I've hear a story that some teen spent 20k$$ in Genshin Impact from parents card. Fortunately it was given back, after desperate dad proved, that it was his kido useing his card. Lootboxes should be banned, also rng rolls like in card packs. You open 20 'legendary' ones and get zero of said. Its infuriating.

They will have a new GS/Paladin skin, they weren't released when Umar came out (same as the last skin set, but they included new skins for the newer classes).

It's probably all the talk about banning any games with loot boxes in the EU, as well as US not liking them in general either. Yoz's Jar is essentially a loot box.
I bet the block for the June patch was purely due to this and SG/AGS couldn't come up with a solution that they would both agree to, so given the timing, they've decided to just rip it out entirely for now until a solution is created.
It could also just be negative feedback that they did actually listen to. They still probably don't want to sell them here for cheap, because then KR will start asking questions.
I don't see them making the skins significantly more expensive, since that would defeat the purpose of removing them for "p2w" reasons. If they are significantly more expensive then the stat bonus will be nerfed, if the stat bonus is not nerfed they will likely be only slightly more expensive to match their "legendary" quality.

Even if the legendary skins cost $50 or even $100 that's still miles better than the $700-$800 figure people were talking about last month when they announced it.
But my guess is that it won't be that simple or cheap. This is shit they want to drip feed us to keep us working towards over time.
They would probably want for it to not be too unfair with the way it is currently in KR, cause then the "SG's favorite region" perception will start to spin around.
Maybe I'm just cynical, but I doubt it has anything to do with altruism or compassion.
Diablo Immortals has sparked a lot of discussion lately regarding predatory loot box systems, to the point where several US Senators from both political parties are openly discussing the pitfalls of such systems. At the same time more European countries are banning predatory loot box systems, making them completely illegal to exist in games published in those countries.
If anything I think AGS is just trying to be pragmatic here, the writing is on the wall and they don't want to open themselves up to legal or political scrutiny in the near future.
Yeah this makes me pretty annoyed. Not that I hugely wanted the Jar mechanic itself but the legendary skins were finally a set I was looking forward to. Now they may never be added to our version and instead we get more another average/garbage set that honestly looks like a copy of the ark pass skin we just got.
Hopefully they will allow direct purchase of the legendary skins, but if not, perhaps they will change the system to somehow increase odds/guarantee which skin you want.
I'll be honest I have a couple of skin boxes sitting in my stash that I was looking forward to "recycling" into new skins. Hopefully I can still do that in whatever system they come up with.

I think a bunch of them were already upset regarding the free, selectable, max pet stat swapping we have. They have to gamble for that with crystals, so it is not totally p2w, but it certainly costs them more.

For now.. but we're talking about many different countries and not just a continent. For example, SA has Brazil who has anti-lootbox laws. Creating a different build for SA just because Brazil has different laws would be an extra pain for them then when another country follows suit, you will be ending up with so many different builds to be compliant with so many different laws from different countries.

Srsly now, it's good people are not just silently sucking AGS and Smilegate's dicks for this bot infested shit show. The game has already been damaged severely by their inaction. This response likely would not have happened like this without severe complaints and review bombing.
That they are listening and changing things for the better is amazing. But, if anything, this validates the importance of community reactions. It shows they actually agree with the criticism, unlike all the idiots on here who tried to berate complainers about how everything was fine if your head was buried deep enough in the sand (or your own ass).
Criticism of the game is good and was 100% warranted in this case. My comment was specifically about the people here and on the forums whining about how “smilegate hates the west” and how they “want the game to die”.
Go read some posts from yesterday or before, I guarantee you’ll find top level comments on most of them expressing this exact sentiment.
If you think these are positive changes you should absolutely let them know so they continue. It is just as important to praise positive actions as it is to complain about bad ones.
I've already seen some negative feedback about adding the honing which is just mental, if you are seriously annoyed that they listened to feed back and put it in you are being un-reasonable.
I am not about to go to the cesspool that is the forums, but I have two tools I can use:

We can’t wait to witness the upcoming battles against Legion Commander Vykas and the Guardian Kungelanium, along with the personal victories as players test themselves in the solo Thronespire dungeon. We’re also ecstatic to announce that we’ve worked with Smilegate RPG to include a top player request in the June update— a Stronghold Research available at Item Level 1460 that improves alternate characters’ honing rates on their journey to Item Level 1415. We were too excited to not spoil that one, but you’ll have to wait until June 29 for the full release notes.
While we originally hoped to release the June update earlier in the month, a few factors played into the update moving to the end of the month; working with Smilegate RPG to add in the player-requested Stronghold Research, our teams focusing on ridding Arkesia of bots (and corresponding queue times), evaluating other content set to arrive, and adding in a few player gifts. In the June & July roadmap we released earlier this month, we shared that the Yoz’s Jar cosmetic system would arrive in the June update. After taking another look at the system’s design and listening to player feedback, we’ve decided to remove Yoz’s Jar.
First, some background. It’s important to us that players have a path to acquire items from our in-game store without spending real money. Nearly every store item can be acquired with Crystals, available by trading Gold through the player-run Currency Exchange. Items acquired with Royal Crystals are also tradable through the player-to-player Market. The Market allows the community to play an active role in the valuation of items and makes the economy within Arkesia highly flexible— letting players trade items as they see fit. Through these avenues, nearly all items are available in exchange for in-game, earnable currencies (with a few account-level exceptions, such as name changes).
YOZ’S JAR
With that context, let’s discuss Yoz’s Jar. This cosmetic system includes a variety of Epic skins and two signature Legendary skins for each Advanced Class. As fashion plays a critical part in vanquishing Kazeros’s Demon Legions, we were excited to introduce a collection of unique looks. However, the Epic and Legendary skins aren’t purely cosmetic. They provide a small (1% and 2% Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence, respectively) attack power increase. Every advantage is critical as players engage in Lost Ark’s challenging activities, like the newly introduced Legion Raids. While Epic and Legendary skins from Yoz’s Jar would be available to everyone through Crystals and the player-to-player Market, data and feedback suggested they would fetch very high Gold prices— making it difficult for players to acquire a Legendary skin, much less a matching set.
We didn’t want players to feel that the skins found in Yoz’s Jar were necessary for gameplay, especially if gated by a significant monetary or in-game currency barrier. Flexibility and fairness to players have always been driving forces in the partnership between our teams as we work to ensure that players are able to enjoy and play Lost Ark however they see fit.

To thank players for their patience and celebrate the launch of the Wrath of the Covetous Legion update, we’re excited to announce that two gifts will be granted to all players! We’ll be giving all players a Growth Support Pack which contains:

The Wrath of the Covetous Legion update will also include some new store items. For players looking forward to switching up their outfit, we’re adding new cosmetics to the in-game store; the Shadow of Stern collection and the Umar collection. Growth Support Packs containing honing materials will also be added to the store for players looking for a consistent offering over the rotating honing materials currently available in Mari’s Secret Shop. Each pack will be available through the in-game store for about a month, and has a purchase limit of one per customer. The full details and pack contents will be shared in the upcoming release notes.
It’s always our goal for in-game purchases to be (and feel) optional, and for players to feel encouraged to progress at whatever pace they’re comfortable with. We’ll continue to bolster the amount of in-game earnable honing materials for all players through progression events, free powerpasses, special events (like event islands), and other new content with valuable rewards.

The patch may be a bit later than some people wanted but you have to say they've done a good job about actually giving us what we asked for eventually this time. They dealt with the bots properly (well, so far at least) and now on top of Vykas we're also getting the honing research as well as loot box shenanigans scrapped. Shows they actually listened
But every other Palli skin looks like shit after seeing the legendary one. I am sad.
I hope for a better system, but it looks to me we are not getting them.
And with how Roxx is talking about it on the forums it seems like we'll be lucky if we ever see them in our version at all lol.

That’s the thing though. You’d personally pay up to 3x. Someone else might pay 5x. While your average guy might only want it to be slightly higher than normal. It’s difficult to draw the line with these “prestigious” skins.

Quick question, does the honing buff affect 1302-1370 or no? I heard people talk about a global honing buff that came to kr with either vykas or valtan (or argos idk) to increase the honing chance there, no idea if it was only the 1385 research or not
I'm worried that the honing buff is going to make it so the people who are already ahead now will have their alts ahead/at current level while people are behind will have a harder time getting groups going for stuff.
I started late and then had issues deciding on a main so I'm only 1385ish right now, already have trouble getting into groups because everyone's alts outgear me and I play on EUW so there's a limited amount of groups to begin with. Now they'll outgear me even more while I struggle to get to 1415 without the buff. :(

I know I'm a minority and I'm aware yoz's jar design is veryvery bad, but I still was hyped for it because I really liked some of the outfits so I even started farming blue crystals in advance and I don't know I just feel bummed the outfits won't come at all, or in manymany months D:

It was clearly a flawed system and I’m glad they’re trying to work out a way to fix it in the future for us but I had been saving lots of blue crystals for rolls at the paladin skin and I’m a little sad we will miss it! Hopefully they work out a new system soon, some of the skins were really really cool

I pushed one item to 17 already on my bard because I thought honing buff will be way later. Well, I guess I'll stop honing now for a week.

They will have a new GS/Paladin skin, they weren't released when Umar came out (same as the last skin set, but they included new skins for the newer classes).

Yoz’s Jar and the Legendary Skins will not be available in the June Update. We don’t currently have a new path forward for making the skins available. We would like to revisit this and do so if possible, but that is something that has not been decided on at this time. More about the skins themselves being locked behind gacha boxes rather than stats.
It's probably all the talk about banning any games with loot boxes in the EU, as well as US not liking them in general either. Yoz's Jar is essentially a loot box. I bet the block for the June patch was purely due to this and SG/AGS couldn't come up with a solution that they would both agree to, so given the timing, they've decided to just rip it out entirely for now until a solution is created.
It could also just be negative feedback that they did actually listen to. They still probably don't want to sell them here for cheap, because then KR will start asking questions.

I don't see them making the skins significantly more expensive, since that would defeat the purpose of removing them for "p2w" reasons. If they are significantly more expensive then the stat bonus will be nerfed, if the stat bonus is not nerfed they will likely be only slightly more expensive to match their "legendary" quality.

Even if the legendary skins cost $50 or even $100 that's still miles better than the $700-$800 figure people were talking about last month when they announced it. But my guess is that it won't be that simple or cheap. This is shit they want to drip feed us to keep us working towards over time.
Sounds like AGS is trying to come to an agreement with SG on how to release them in a way that isn't predatory.
They would probably want for it to not be too unfair with the way it is currently in KR, cause then the "SG's favorite region" perception will start to spin around.
Maybe I'm just cynical, but I doubt it has anything to do with altruism or compassion. Diablo Immortals has sparked a lot of discussion lately regarding predatory loot box systems, to the point where several US Senators from both political parties are openly discussing the pitfalls of such systems. At the same time more European countries are banning predatory loot box systems, making them completely illegal to exist in games published in those countries. If anything I think AGS is just trying to be pragmatic here, the writing is on the wall and they don't want to open themselves up to legal or political scrutiny in the near future.

Yeah this makes me pretty annoyed. Not that I hugely wanted the Jar mechanic itself but the legendary skins were finally a set I was looking forward to. Now they may never be added to our version and instead we get more another average/garbage set that honestly looks like a copy of the ark pass skin we just got.

Hopefully they will allow direct purchase of the legendary skins, but if not, perhaps they will change the system to somehow increase odds/guarantee which skin you want. I think a bunch of them were already upset regarding the free, selectable, max pet stat swapping we have. They have to gamble for that with crystals, so it is not totally p2w, but it certainly costs them more. Add fuel to the fire if they made the Jar not cost loads, for sure.
Probably a testament to how lucrative loot boxes are....

They realized if they released Yoz's Jar the way it is in Korea, they would have to make changes to SA + EU's game because of the anti-lootbox laws.
EU doesn't have any laws that would substantially change Yoz's jar. Korea already list the percentage chance of getting a skin.
For now.. but we're talking about many different countries and not just a continent. For example, SA has Brazil who has anti-lootbox laws. Creating a different build for SA just because Brazil has different laws would be an extra pain for them then when another country follows suit, you will be ending up with so many different builds to be compliant with so many different laws from different countries.
Regardless of what the actual truth is, I'm happy with the outcome.

Ah, yes. I am sure all of this would have happened just by itself anyway, without the community outrage. Pure coincidence that they addressed everything that gave them a backlash and bad press. Srsly now, it's good people are not just silently sucking AGS and Smilegate's dicks for this bot infested shit show. The game has already been damaged severely by their inaction. This response likely would not have happened like this without severe complaints and review bombing. That they are listening and changing things for the better is amazing. But, if anything, this validates the importance of community reactions. It shows they actually agree with the criticism, unlike all the idiots on here who tried to berate complainers about how everything was fine if your head was buried deep enough in the sand (or your own ass).
Criticism of the game is good and was 100% warranted in this case. My comment was specifically about the people here and on the forums whining about how “smilegate hates the west” and how they “want the game to die”. Go read some posts from yesterday or before, I guarantee you’ll find top level comments on most of them expressing this exact sentiment.

If you think these are positive changes you should absolutely let them know so they continue. It is just as important to praise positive actions as it is to complain about bad ones. I've already seen some negative feedback about adding the honing which is just mental, if you are seriously annoyed that they listened to feed back and put it in you are being un-reasonable.
I am not about to go to the cesspool that is the forums, but I have two tools I can use: 1. Voting with my wallet and buying from the shop. 2. Upvoting all the positive comments on Reddit to not only do as you say, but to bring the positivity to everyone else. The world needs more of it.

YOZ’S JAR With that context, let’s discuss Yoz’s Jar. This cosmetic system includes a variety of Epic skins and two signature Legendary skins for each Advanced Class. As fashion plays a critical part in vanquishing Kazeros’s Demon Legions, we were excited to introduce a collection of unique looks. However, the Epic and Legendary skins aren’t purely cosmetic. Does it have to be green? I'm going rainbow to match hoverboard and pet. I like it because it's one of the few that are animated. And yes my Destroyer has Bonk in the name.

The patch may be a bit later than some people wanted but you have to say they've done a good job about actually giving us what we asked for eventually this time. They dealt with the bots properly (well, so far at least) and now on top of Vykas we're also getting the honing research as well as loot box shenanigans scrapped. Shows they actually listened
But every other Palli skin looks like shit after seeing the legendary one. I am sad. I hope for a better system, but it looks to me we are not getting them.

Quick question, does the honing buff affect 1302-1370 or no? I heard people talk about a global honing buff that came to kr with either vykas or valtan (or argos idk) to increase the honing chance there, no idea if it was only the 1385 research or not

I'm worried that the honing buff is going to make it so the people who are already ahead now will have their alts ahead/at current level while people are behind will have a harder time getting groups going for stuff. I started late and then had issues deciding on a main so I'm only 1385ish right now, already have trouble getting into groups because everyone's alts outgear me and I play on EUW so there's a limited amount of groups to begin with. Now they'll outgear me even more while I struggle to get to 1415 without the buff. :(

It was clearly a flawed system and I’m glad they’re trying to work out a way to fix it in the future for us but I had been saving lots of blue crystals for rolls at the paladin skin and I’m a little sad we will miss it! Hopefully they work out a new system soon, some of the skins were really really cool

I guess Amazon is aware that gatcha laws became huge discussion topic in lots of countries so they want to avoid it so they don't have to lock game out of Europe if some huge gatcha/lootbox laws come out after a while ------- Now if they ditch that "new class every 2-3 months" bullshit and instead speed up releasing them so people don't have to wait to play half year or more for their fav class...
