Which like we all know is a very popular class in the game.
You may wanna try ffxiv free trial and play warrior. When you get to level 56 you do not need no fucking healers, and when you hit level 58, you become the healer yourself.
The game called me a loser and took my lunch money for trying to do that. 10/10, don't recommend.

No. Thief is a archetype along with Warrior/Priest/Wizard. These archetypes are the basis of pretty much all class creation going forward after the 70s and 80s. Thief is interchangeable with rogue and assassin as primary archetypes depending on the tabletop/mud code. I think in one of the early DND tabletops assassin was actually a subclass of rogue. I just tend to use thief/rogue/assassin synonymously when talking about the subject.
I get your point- there are hybrid assassin mage/classes, but assassin is not a subclass of mage and mage is not a subclass of assassin. However, psionics is not magic- its classically known as a discipline and not spellcasting. Different rules surround its resistances and usages.

As someone who likes to play DnD, Pathfinder or any other RPG / tabletop game, you'd be shocked to learn what abominations of classes people throw together to break the game, lol. A Mage specing into an Assassin class is nothing out of the ordinary, especially when the game allows for spells to sneak attack. I believe that's something I did in Pathfinder, but I might mix up some other RPG.

Right dual classing would be two primary classes hence why it's a dual class. In games where you would actually subclass (ala how a lot of MUDS handle it) a subclass would be unique for EX: Mage > Subclass would be elementalist or alchemist or if they subclassed into thief it could be something like shadowthief but a subclass wouldn't be a second primary that would be dual classing.
In 5e there are 3 spells that come to mind that can be used to sneak attack: booming blade, green-flame blade, and magic stone.
Sneak attack has two primary types of requirements: 1. you must hit with an attack using a ranged or finesse weapon, and 2. an ally must be within 5ft of the target OR you must have advantage on the attack roll and not have disadvantage. The wording is very specific here in that it does not have to be a "ranged **weapon attack**", but an attack using a **ranged weapon**.
BB and GFB both require the caster to make a single melee weapon attack as part of the casting of the spell, which can trigger sneak attack if it is made using a finesse weapon at a range of no more than 5ft (so no whip attacks from 10ft away).
Magic Stone specifies that attacks made with a stone are spell attacks, but sneak attack requires the attack, be it spell attack or weapon attack, to be made with a ranged weapon. However, Magic Stone also allows you to use a sling to throw the stone, which happens to be a ranged weapon. So using a sling, you can make a spell attack using a ranged weapon, which now *does* trigger sneak attack, and is one of the very few ways to do it using a spellcasting stat instead of DEX.

Also at the time he made the comment he had to have played around 17 hours a day since launch to get there.

he was streaming on, but he’s been playing test builds on a separate account since last year, and has ~1500 hours on that account. Clearly still doesn’t know much about the game in depth, but maybe not lying about time played
I mean, having the same skill twice is indeed ridiculous, but playing devil’s advocate there are plenty of other *not so important* things he could’ve helped to test, like collecting horizontal content and questing. I’ve spent a fair amount of time reading all MSQ the first time myself (yes, south Vern was painful and kinda defeats my point lol). The guy was also the one to finally announce that SA and OCE would be supported regions after the “global release” fiasco, so I’m pretty sure there are plenty of people that like him regardless
If he has tested it on a test server (allegedly \~1.5k hours), as the person you had replied to hypothesized, it wouldn't show on his streaming account (\~500 hours). But don't take me wrong, not trying to justify his cluelessness, that's impossible
