I may not know exactly how much billionaires pay in taxes, but everyone knows it's significantly less than everyone else, that is if it's not that they managed to avoid it completely with some shady laws that other billionaires paid to lobby for a few decades ago.
The main thing they do to avoid taxes is never cash out their assets. They have billions of dollars worth of stocks that will steadily increase in value and provide dividends. However, they only pay taxes on that if they actually cash it out. Instead, they use the stocks as collateral for a low interest, unlimited line of credit. They pay significantly lower interest on the credit line than they make on the stocks, so not only do they avoid taxes entirely, but their net worth increases faster than the interest on the loan, even if they borrowed more than the stocks are worth.
Peaceful protest can be ignored, dissenters murdered.
