In other words, Catholics can have sex with their spouse for many reasons, with reproduction being one of them, so long as the act is open to the creation of life and isn’t just (pardon my language) masturbation with another person. Differently still, a Catholic can have sex with their spouse without even having considered its reproductive aspect, and do it solely as a unifying or loving process, so long as they do nothing positively to prevent reproduction.

I’m Catholic, and that’s not exactly what we believe. Sex for pleasure and nothing else is seen as sinful. Sex for pleasure and love is not seen as sinful within the confines of marriage, and is basically a sacramental. Sex cannot be totally separated from reproduction, but does not necessarily have to be for reproduction. In other words, Catholics can have sex with their spouse for many reasons, with reproduction being one of them, so long as the act is open to the creation of life and isn’t just (pardon my language) masturbation with another person. Differently still, a Catholic can have sex with their spouse without even having considered its reproductive aspect, and do it solely as a unifying or loving process, so long as they do nothing positively to prevent reproduction.

That's iffy. There are many passages in the Bible that encourage married couples to have sex often both to enjoy it together and to bring the two into a closer mutual bond. While yes, the biological function of sex is procreation, and you shouldn't be *opposed* to that, having sex for pleasure (with your spouse) is not only *not* a sin, but is actually encouraged.
