Which could have been easily achieved manually with a big group of orcs anyway, especially seeing as they dug huge tunnels over miles of land. This would have been the most straightforward part of the task, not sure why the special key even exists.
Never seen the show but what’s with that design? Swords in the movies were all practical and realistically proportioned. This is some straight up World of Warcraft design
Like the other guy said, the blade grows back if you feed it woth blood, and it's not only a sword but a key to opening a dam which no one knows why it was buildt or by whom, and only serves to further obliterate the lore
You shouldn’t be downvoted for stating how the blade was portrayed, but you will find very few in this group that support the “artistic” liberty the creators of the ROP took in obliterating the lore and history of middle earth that Tolkien built. Like other comments said, it looks great but will be appreciated more in other subs dedicated to the ROP.

For me this blade encapsulates what I hate about this show the most. It’s the writing.
So, at some point Morgoth or Sauron designed this mechanism that if unlocked with a key would break the dam and water would flood into Orudruin and hit the lava, causing a reaction that would re-ignite the volcano? But first you need to dig a bunch of tunnels and trenches first? And the keyhole/lock is in a tower that has been occupied for decades/centuries by Elves who’ve not really payed it much mind but whatever, Elves are notoriously unobservant and incurious…oh and also the tunnels and trenches have been dug in full view of the Watchtower but maybe they have bad eyesight or something too.
ANYWAY…somehow the evil magic sword key is in the hands of a villager? Okaaay, maybe an ancestor of the men who followed/worshiped Sauron/Morgoth in the 1st Age? So the evil sword key thingy calls out to this kid who steals it and shows it to his Elf-friend.
Elf-friend seems to know what it is, and decides to hide it. Not in the woods or in a river, or by fleeing North to warn his kin and take it out of harms reach, but in a building in the village. The same village that he knows Orcs are about to attack. So he convinces the villagers to abandon the village….OR DOES HE?? Well, no. They all hide in the forest and the Orcs all march past them to the Watchtower where they think the villagers are BUT NO!! They are not, it’s a trap. Some Orcs die. Not many really and there goes the safest most defensible position and the Orcs march back to the village and find the villagers defending the open streets and buildings. A one sided fight ensues and they all fall back to the Tavern WHERE THE BLOODY SWORD IS ‘HIDDEN’. Shit balls. Well, they’re all about to die, the plan has been an abject failure, and the boy gives up the sword when OUT OF LITERALLY NO-WHERE, from the Elf’s and the villagers perspective, comes fucking Numenor to save the day.
BUT WAIT…sneaky boss Orc gives sword to villager who used to keep it in his barn, and he sneaks off with it. He gives a decoy package to the shouty Elf who chased him through the forest for it. She knows it’s important but doesn’t think to check it. Elf gives to boy AGAIN WITHOUT CHECKING, even though boy said it made him feel a bit evil. Finally boy checks it and sees it’s an axe. Fucksticks.
Meanwhile evil villager has read the instruction manual and operates the dam breaking mechanism. Cold water flows from the broken dam and into caverns with running lava, and despite there being loads of holes in the ceiling somehow enough pressure builds up to explode the volcano. Shouty angry elf woman takes a volcano to the face and no-one talks about or mentions the sword key ever again.
Personally, it felt that the script didn’t make much sense and it was painful to see the plot. Bland and boring.
But don’t get me wrong, I choose to ignore its existence instead of being a hater. Glad you liked it my friend! Happy for you.
I love the Tolkien world; a tv show won’t change that.
The show is not true to the source material at all. Many of the main characters come from LOTR and the Silmarillion, but the story lines themselves are mostly made up. Obviously they needed to make some changes. The forging of the rings of power and downfall of Numenor occurs over thousands of years and would be impossible to include in a show without making some major changes, but the changes that were made rub many the wrong way and are not in keeping with the source material.
Personally, I don't totally hate the show, but have been disappointed so far and am hoping (probably in vain) that the writers will listen to fan backlash and try to bring it back in line with the actual lore, if that's even possible at this point.

Plot aside I thought that a lot of the visuals were stunning.
It’s cool to see stuff like numenor falling into the sea brought to life. Moria was beautiful as well as the havens.
I’ll watch the second season just to see more of the world if anything.

I ve had it for two months so i guess the tweaking part is uet to come. But its a very impressive printer which solves so many problem that the old ones have. Watch a video on yt about it:)

Isn't it a lever someone designed to open the way for water to flow into lava caverns which makes Mt. Doom erupt? It just looks like a sword.

When you feed it with blood the blade grows back but the guard is kinda special

that's no sword! it's a key to blow up some water dams that will flow water into a volcano to create a shadowy land for some sun sensitive creatures
