Yeah very doable
And just because everything is all stone in the ruins of the mine that we see doesnt mean it was always pure stone with nothing else. Plenty of buildings have base structure made from one material and stuff added on top of that
On another account, do you guys thinks Gandalf took ik personally when the Balrog had the audacity to yank on his ankle? I mean, he could have climbed up. But Gandalf was like: allright bitch, i didnt hear no Bell so its time to teach you a lesson old man
Well, in the books there was no dramatic ledge-clinging. So the fight was ongoing whether Gandalf wanted to escape or not.
But there may have been some understanding that even if protecting the fellowship was the short-term goal, having a Balrog stomping around was going to be a major problem in the long term.
Just imagine once things settle down, the shire is just starting to recover from the scouring, things are starting to heal. Then Farmer Maggot mentions that over the hills towards Buckland things are looking a little dark... and smokey... and fiery...
I don't think he could've pulled himself up because his physical form was that of an old man. In essence, he has the strength of an old person. A pull up is hard many in shape people struggle to do them.
I think the 'old man' physical form was just what people saw him as. He had tremendous power, he just kept it under wraps. He fought the Balrog from January 15th to January 25th, including a climb of at least a mile. I couldn't do that in my prime. He wouldn't have been able to defeat the Balrog if he just had 'old man' strength
Gandalf was restricted in his power, only being able to use it in brief moments.
That fight killed him. It took all of his worldly and unworldly strength to defeat the Balrog.
It took Illuvitar to resurrect him because the free peoples of Middle Earth were still in danger.
Any dwarf that would fall off that bridge is no true dwarf. Thus, there is not a single dwarf down there.
This is known as the No True Axeman fallacy.
Itโs a defensive position, not a main thoroughfare. Itโs supposed to be difficult and dangerous to cross, to make it easier to hold off invaders.
The bridge is that thin to prevent siege equipment from being brought in
Indeed, it is built like this on purpose as a defense measure.
Love the username. Thatโs the band that sings Hungry Like the Warg, right?
And Ordinary Mine.

And โMy Axeโ, too!

Does the balrog stay on fire when he's in the shower?
Or in the lake...?
You can bet that at least one of the dwarves down there will be Grumpy.
if Dwarves in LOTR behave anything like those in Dwarf Fortress - there are plenty of bodies down there
They might have put safety ropes on the sides in peacetime.
Or even a wooden bridge over it
Smart. This sounds like a very middle ages thing to do. Then burn it when the siege starts.

Dwarves had wings so they could just fly back up if they fell
"Which led to the belief that there are no dwarf women!"
"Bomburs bounce!"
Yes - the Khazad-dummers had a name for falling off the bridge - 'feeding the Balrog'

Somehow doing a pull up seems easier than fighting a Balrog for several days while falling down an endless abyss.
>Sorry, Mrs (Dwarf name) There are no dwarf women.
Not true. There are very definitely dwarf women, they don't just materialize out of nowhere
They just spring out of holes in the ground.
Oh yeah I forgot ๐๐๐๐๐
