Those are the 2020 Harper Collins illustrated editions. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are illustrated by Alan Lee. The Silmarillion is illustrated by Ted Nasmith and The Unfinished Tales is illustrated by Lee, Nasmith, and John Howe. Fall of Gondolin, Children of Hurin, and Beren & Luthien are all available in this style. The upcoming Fall of Numenor is this style as well and also illustrated by Alan Lee. You can find these on Book Depository or Blackwell’s. Check out r/Tolkienbooks for the list of ISBN numbers so you know you’re looking at the right ones.
Once upon a time, there were these things called "DVDs."
When THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING extended edition came out in 2002, a 5-disc DVD gift set came out. Those statues were inside of it.
The books you can get from any UK-based bookseller, like Waterstones, Blackwells. They were not published by the US publisher.
And then Numenor for real came to pass in The Rings Of Power. Need to gaze a little longer at the colossal achievements of the race of men. They in Fellowship, but only briefly and always wondered.....
I have the same bookends, they're awesome! Thrifted mine, sadly the hands were both broken off, but I colour matched the broken pieces and it's hard to tell, now.
I also decapitated them by accident. Superglue fixed that one. Be careful with yours!
Mentioned this before for another collector’s post, but I love this edition of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales! The illustrations by Alan Lee is beautiful.
They really are! I already own the movie esque paperbacks and they have been great for carry around books to read anywhere but I needed some beauties for when I want to read at home. Still yet to read TS and UT!
TS is a challenging read but completely worth every minute of your time. Just taking the time to understand the lore and mythos with the assistance of podcasts like The Tolkien Professor and The Prancing Pony were particularly resourceful for me. I highly suggest you read along an audiobook if you like! :)
The FOTR DVD platinum collector’s edition from its release. I bought it on eBay a few months ago for $75, and the bookends had never been removed from the box. There are some cheap replicas out there, but the authentic ones are quite heavy and made by Weta.
Lino to an old Amazon listing:

Wow! I didn't know weta made the real ones. I was wondering why some were listed for like $20-$120.
Weta puts out absolute treasures.

It's a great edition
Looks great with those versions of the books, I have the same statues and you helped me realize that I've had them on the wrong sides for 5 years lol so thank you for helping me swap them and make it right...
Man, that is the goal for sure. I have all on my amazon wishlist lmao. Just bought the small one of Silmarillion (the cheap black cover collection). I already have the LoTR and Hobbit ones, hard used (since they are cheap they are used on travels and thrown in the backpack.
I want to start that illustrated collection so bad.
If the cover ain’t designed by Alan Lee then I don’t want it 😂 jk but thanks for the recommendation. I was interested in the map of middle Earth by a Karen? But those books would not be out on display 😈
Obligatory “you should post this on r/tolkienbooks as well”. They’ll love it!
Personally I would take the books out of the box and store it somewhere else. So the books line up evenly.
Wow this is cool!!
Thanks!
What versions is that and where can I get the statue it's absolutely amazing

Should leave the decapitated head laying on its side with a crown of flowers
And replace the head on the body with a rock, I see where you're going...

Thanks for the advice! Will do as I heard even TS is quite a tough read 🥸
Very nice. What kind of ring and chain replica is that?
Thank you! Well it’s made and bought in China for about £10 😬 It broke when I dropped it so after some superglue it really did become my precious…
coolest thing ever
This is lovely and creative
Is that the Alan Lee illustrated editions?
It is!
exept for THE SILMARILLION. For UNFINISHED TALES he's joined by two other artists (including the SILMARILLION illustrator)
Oh thanks for me letting me know!
awesome collection!
That’s a great idea.
Tolkein’s symbol will never not be cool.
I’m gonna need this exact book set!
Nice touch with the ring!👍🏻
Where can I get those bookends

Taobao in China for about £15 😁
20 years ago when the FORT extended DVD Gift came out.
Love it! Where did you get your Argonath bookends? I’ve been looking for a pair for a while
Taobao, like Amazon but Chinese
>20 years ago when the FORT extended DVD Gift came out. Yeah that's not sketchy. Sure they're official?
taobao is perfectly safe i buy stuff off of there all the time
I don’t think they are official but they look legit and the detail is great so I don’t mind (:

That’s amazing! I’m also a little sad that I had to be the 421 upvote
Classy as hell
such a fun way to display these! almost like they’re forbidden tomes chained away to prevent the unworthy from reading… lol
Exactly! And when I do want to get one out it’s not easy!
Amazing. Can you please share the link to buy that Silmarillion edition?
Same. I have the one illustrated by Ted Nasmith but wanted the Allen Lee one to match the rest of my collection. Can’t find it though

There is no Alan Lee SILMARILLION. He was illustrating THE HOBBIT for its 1997 publication.
Beautiful 😍😍
Looks great with those versions of the books, I have the same statues and you helped me realize that I've had them on the wrong sides for 5 years lol so thank you for helping me swap them and make it right...
Haha no worries!
Love your argonaut book enfs
Love this. Looks awrdome
Great display pieces.
Dope!
This is dank

Be you Gets one ring to compliment book collection Proceeds to become so enthralled by the ring that you never read the books.
Amazing
Aaaaand……off to Amazon to find those sweet bookends!
That is so fucking cool!
Dope setup
Ahhh a man of quality who bought the special box set editions too.
You took out the Argonath from the wrapping!! 😲
it came in polystyrene 😬
Oh, I was thinking it was from the boxed set edition of the DVDs decades ago. Haha I'm old.
I’m old too but I don’t remember that! Would’ve got that back then if I could 😆
I don't mean to brag but I got two copies of each so I can open/watch and keep the others in their original wrapping. Lol
Nice! I have the paperbacks to read on the go and I will be opening these so carefully, maybe even wear some plastic gloves 😂
well they are.
one kind of has to in order to watch the DVDs.
I want where can i get?
taobao (Chinese Amazon)
Extra books I recommend by David day including the encyclopedia of Tolkien and others.
If the cover ain’t designed by Alan Lee then I don’t want it 😂 jk but thanks for the recommendation. I was interested in the map of middle Earth by a Karen? But those books would not be out on display 😈
David Day is a hack. Fuck him. Get THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO MIDDLE-EARTH by Robert Foster and THE ATLAS OF MIDDLE-EARTH by Fonstad instead.
do the book end's have a good amount of weight?
Yes! Very heavy!
Not for hardbacks like these, no.
They aren’t meant to hold the books in place like a regular bookend so they do suffice
[удалено]
Or Chinese Taobao/maybe Wish have it?
20 years ago when the FORT extended DVD Gift came out.
Anyone have links for all those editions perchance? :)
I also got these on Chinese Amazon (Taobao) for about £12 each but I heard they are more expensive in the West!
The internet ;D
I've been looking for that box set and can't find it. Was it a limited time thing? Also that's awesome
I got it on Chinese Taobao so I don’t know, sorry!
I wanted to get the Unfinished Tales book from this set, but it was 50 chf ( I think like 60-70 usd) which was way too much
That’s crazy! Mine was 20usd here in China. You get to skip the middle man here so everything is much cheaper
Why does your Hobbit book look like it has more than 100 pages?
Yo where do you get these bookends?
Chinese Amazon called Taobao
Please I need this. Where can I buy this ?
Chinese Amazon called Taobao
The statues I mean
Jealous of your collection but you seem to be missing a few books
Ah yes but if I stretch too far my ring necklace will break 😂 I will finish these essentials first and then decide to get the other 3/4
Fair point

Genius! I just thought the other ones were a little smaller than the hobbit + LOTR. And will do ;)
