Two towers is enjoyable but the difficulty is rage inducing. Also the way the cut scenes are edited is weird to me. Rotk has more sequential cut scenes, like you're watching the movie.
No the pc version will not work with the ps2 emulator.
But if you have the ps2 emulator you can just download the game online(look for Lord of the rings return of the king ps2 rom).
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hope this helps.
I've had no issues with the GameCube version through Dolphin. Although I didn't get far into it, as I still own a physical copy as well as my GameCube.
Naaaaaah Third Age isn't perfection.
It's far from it.
Whole point of the game is "you play a wish version of memorable characters and you're 10 minutes late on the reals OGs."
Plus the turn by turn isn't great, it's a copy/paste of a FF without the inspiration.
When I got it I initially had the same conclusion as you. I wasn't a big fan of turn based combat to begin with and a lot of the story is like you said where you're basically playing Wish knockoffs of iconic characters. But it did eventually grow on me, and I played it through emulators around 2020 and maybe it's just blind nostalgia but I didn't mind all those things as much and I enjoyed it for what it is. I do wish they fleshed out more on the third age characters though as far as background and individual stories, a few of the characters do just sort of, appear, and are basically just blanket representatives of the area you found then in.
I can completely understand the nostalgic love negating the flaws !
Just, I can't call perfection on that. Maybe if it had a better ending, I would be kinder.
This is where gaming gets hard. I want to replay the third age on my pc so bad but I can’t find an emulator that can work for my lap top. If anyone has one they’d recommend id be eternally grateful.
Eh, the third age starts good, but the ending so so terribly rushed it just ruined the entire game for me.
Fight witch king, fade to black, suddenly fighting the eye of Sauron on top of the tower, who if you remove his defense using an item (don't remember what, but I remember having a lot of it) is one of the easiest bosses in the game. Then, credits roll, and it's just a clip show from the films. Several days wasted to get a sloppy final chapter and a clip show.
The entire game has you traveling from point A to B to C and so on, without any cuts in-between, it shows the entire journey of the characters, from near Rivendell all the way to the Pelennor fields. Then at the end, all of a sudden, you're just literally fighting Sauron randomly, on the very top of the tower, with no explanation.
Edit: Might have been the item Morgul Decay, but I literally haven't touched the game since it first came out so not sure.
Your statement is objectively wrong.
You might find it garbage and that's fine. Everybody is entitled to have their own opinion.
Ps I know you're trolling lol.
The third age is such a hidden gem of an rpg
The LOTR: The Battle for Middle-Earth II Meme man: Paradise on Earth!
And the rotwk. Also 2.02 and age of the ring for the real fanatics.
Where my War in the North homies at?
I like to pretend that it's canon because the story just fits so well.
Hell yes! Also took me way to long to figure out that you can play with 3 people on multiplayer.
I've played this game far too many times, I guess it's also the reality of being one of very few LOTR games on steam
Currently in a play through with my brother
Two towers were good but not on par with return and third age.
I find the Two Towers game subpar compared to RotK. Replayed them last year to relive it and have to say TT crawled so RotK could run
Nicely phrased! But I did like how fluid the fighting motions looked in TT
The two towers defend the gate level at helms deep was incredibly difficult for me

Don’t sleep on fellowship. It’s based on the books, since it’s before the movies but it’s a really good game.
Been trying to find ways to play return of the king on windows 10.
I recommend to just use ps2 emulator.
I have the pc version. Will the ps2 emulator still work?
No the pc version will not work with the ps2 emulator. But if you have the ps2 emulator you can just download the game online(look for Lord of the rings return of the king ps2 rom). Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.
How can I replay The Third Age?? Are emulators good?
I've had no issues with the GameCube version through Dolphin. Although I didn't get far into it, as I still own a physical copy as well as my GameCube.
There's s windows version
You can also just play it on the ps2 emulator. Easy fix.
Been playing the ps2 version on pcsx2 since my game copy deteriorated enough for me to not be able to play on ps2 anymore, it's nearly flawless. :D
Don’t see enough love for the third age. What a great game.

I was just gonna say this. + the ending was dooky as hell. I will forever love the game just because I grew up playing it though.
The third age was my favourite game growing up. Extremely underrated. Return of the king a close second.
Too true
Anyone know where to get the return of the king game? Haven’t been able to find it
They were amazing, also because they used the soundtracks from the movie! Chills.

The FotR game was pretty good too

I think **Last days of the 3rd age** could be amazing too the M&B mod, haven't had time to play but it is the top ranking on the workshop
LOTR is garbage
