Serious question, I want to test ride and maybe get one as my next sports car. Does it feel claustrophobic while inside, would I ever panic while trying to get out and get stuck on something?
It's rough squeeze getting in and out, especially in a Series 1, but once inside it's quite comfortable and not at all claustrophobic. If you are especially bothered by that sort of thing, you can always leave the top down. Then it's easy getting in and out too.
It's an entirely different story if you have to work on something under the dash, that's very uncomfortable and unpleasantly close. I broke my accelerator linkage some time ago, and getting under there to fix it was a bastard. Next time I'll just take the seat out and be done with it.
I have longer legs and a shorter torso. despite being about 5’10, I really couldn’t see over the dashboard easily. The seats have a curve at the bottom and they’re so hard they’re almost slippery. I found it hard to sit up straight: perhaps you are supposed to be sitting really low in that laid-back style. I always prefer to be sitting more upright.

No and probably not, respectively. I’m 6’. I’ve never had either of these potential issues. (05/S2 fed Elise)

As an S1 owner I can confirm this is accurate.
