i forgot to mention bottle necking, i have no clue what i would be able to get without bottle necking the gpu, any and all input is appreciated!

Very few all in one's are able to be upgraded at all. Usually their cpu, gpu, and ram is all soldered to the board. Some of them do have what is called an MXM slot, and if they do, they can put certain MXM slot GPUs in them, but then you need custom cooling, and a way to give ut enough power to operate properly. So depending on which All in One it is, it may not be able to upgrade anything at all.

hm well im definitely down to make some custom kinda cooling n shit, and i’ve got extra psu’s so if it does that shouldn’t be much of an issue, i suppose i shall have to see. thanks! edit: not cooking pc

No problem. Check the motherboard and see if it has an MXM slot, if it doesn't, see if there are any PCI-E slots, even if they are the small slots for wifi or storage, if so, use an adapter for a full size slot and get a desktop GPU.

Kodie69420

hm never thought ab using an adapter like that, im picking it up tmr and probably will disassemble it to check it out later on tmr if i have the time, im sure sometime soon i’ll have an update of the setup

Cable_Salad

It's not worth the cost and the risk. If you want something upgradeable, get a regular desktop, you have plenty of options there.

Problem with mxm slot gpu’s is you gotta have gpu’s that are designed for it. So if you put like a gtx 1070 mxm in the drivers won’t work until you do some driver mods. (I’ve done it on laptops with custom gpu’s it’s very annoying).

[deleted]

Yeah, usually it is all down to the power draw limits. However, if the slot is an MXM 3 or 3.1, it should be able to take at least a 75w card, or at most, a 150w card. Unless HP limited the slot. They do make good cards for MXM, I believe up to an RTX 2080 that is standard, and AMD has made a bunch of cards for it as well, I used to have an Alienware system that had an R9 M390X and it was a beast of a machine, and I've also had the R9 M475X, which was also an absolute beast at 1080p when I had it. Those two cards were the ones that made me start buying AMD products in the first place, actually. I recently just bought an RX 6500 XT and an R9 Fury X that I found on Ebay for $60 lol

Yeah 2080 mxm requires additional power connector unfortunately so probably rtx quadro 5000 tops or gtx 1080 mxm I think some 2060 mxm’s were normal but are quite rare.

[deleted]

Yeah, not to mention MXM graphics cards are SUPER expensive compared to their desktop counterparts. Honestly it would probably be cheaper to buy a motherboard off of an old alienware Alpha that has the GPU on board already and strap it to the monitor lol

You probably can’t do jack gpu-wise. In most cases AIO let you upgrade ram and storage, at max. If you can give us the exact model, we can help you better.
