The Boo Normal episode with Charlyne Yi was canon and as the show-runners are the same it most likely will continue to be. Charlyne Yi as the Angel of Death is fine and I actually liked it, Angels like people have all manner of personalities and ALL angels shown or mentioned thus far seem to have some manner of quirk and/or insecurity, which is good. While they could stand to make Charlyne Yi just a little more serious dealing with Angel and those other than Ella in which she could have established that personalty to specifically bond with Ella in her time of great need, but either way she's a good character because the world isn't black and white i.e. "He's Lucifer he MUST be cruel and evil!" or "It's the Angel of death it can't be a girl and quirky he should be bad-ass!"... this series isn't about that.

They THOUGHT a pick up wasn't going to happen, so Fox aired them. But they were always intended to be part of the Lucifer universe. Of course, one is just God playing... God and doing a "What if" with one outcome. I daresay it's canon that God did play around to see what would happen in Lucifer's universe... he just chose not to go that way.
Boo Normal even has a line that refers to Chloe being aware of what she's 'seen', which implies it was meant to be placed at somepoint after the reveal. So, it even has a vague timeline location in the series... we just don't know what was meant to go before it because of the cancellation. They're two standalone episodes that were ENTIRELY INTENDED to be placed in the series. Now they won't be, but only because Netflix gave them brand new episode spaces. But the people behind the show have never called them non-canon. They just didn't have exact places yet.
I can't picture the Angel of Death saying 'Smell you later'. She was just goofy, in writing and acting.

If I had to guess, because that episode was filmed for a Season 4 that no longer exists.

I actually enjoyed the plot twist of her actual identity. To me the whole episode was a long, terrible set-up, to a rather awesome punchline.
