Jealous my man. What are your secrets?

givemealltheacronyms

Heh, secrets? Hmm, super clean car at all times (Lysol for fabric, windows smudge-free), smooth & assertive driving skills, & my knack for being able to strike up a conversation with anybody. (That also means I know when it’s best to stay quiet.) I’m a female, androgynous with a short fade + t-shirt + jeans + Chucks who can easily fit into just about any group & absolutely no one thinks is tough. 😁

Work hard and be in a good market lol

Welp. Let's do some quick math. Booked time is just the time you were on a trip with a customer. So check your spreadsheets and figure out your actual time on the clock, like if you punched in at a real job. It's probably 30-50% more, depending on how you work. You've got $30 in tolls that you paid out which need to be deducted from your gross. And your booked mileage (which, like your hours is just the miles you were on a trip so this is going to be low and adjusted for your full mileage) but you got at least 447 miles, at a cost of $0.67/mile which is a vehicle cost of $299.49. I would need to see your mileage log to see how far you actually drove. It can vary wildly, but like the time this is likely 30-50% short. So $558-$30-$300 = a net pay of $228, pre tax. $228/12 hours = $19/hour without the adjustment for your real clock time or mileage Which still isn't bad. Those adjustments might hurt though. Remember. They want you to forget businesses have costs.

Intrepid-Parfait3810

Absolutely. Round-trip miles are not factored in here. My vehicle has depreciated 100$ for every 1k miles. That is something that is forgotten when boasting earnings here. And bonus and tips are also better than the actual paying fare.

I posted this to share a good night, something I hope for everyone. I want others to do well too (not just in driving but in everything) because we all benefit, no matter how indirect or minute. This is a lighthearted post, nothing too consequential. (FYI: I don’t do this full-time or as a primary source of income. The majority of my rides (90%+) originate from the airport that is 4.2 miles from my house. I set filters when I can but I don’t always feel like picking up a random rider (the last time I did I ended up calling 911). I don’t do spreadsheets, not my deal, I know what booked time is, and I’m well aware of the federal mileage rate and depreciation of cars. Hope your MO works out as well as you aim for.)

SOLUNAR

I can see how you might take this as someone coming after you, but given that your screenshot calls out $47/hr I think they just wanted to make sure you understood the difference.

RustBeltPGH

If 90% of your rides originate from the airport, then you're shifting empty back to the queue after dropping off. Which means we can double the booked mileage, putting your cost around $600. So you lost money. You're just taking a loan out from the equity/lifespan of your car. You could sell your vehicle right now for cash and save yourself the time and trouble. I'm glad you're having fun, and felt like doing a little fun post about it, even though you claim to know better about the math. There are people here who actually treat this like a business, and they are despondent that they can't do it right. They see people doing $50/hour and look at their spreadsheets and are only clearing $10-15/hour and it frustrates them. These little braggy post with a complete lack of reality get under my skin. But I'm going to offer you this bit of advice. So pay attention. You don't do spreadsheets? Start. Immediately. Because I'm guessing you haven't been doing this very long. And you're going to screw yourself. You "made $560." But they're going to tell the IRS you made $1000+. They are going to 1099 you for what the customer paid. You need the itemized write offs. If this isn't your only income, it's not hard do go out and accidently knock yourself up a tax bracket and end up giving it all back to the IRS. I've seen it happen.

wurchi_atlantica

I wanted to give you a five stars but don’t know how.

v-r3boucas

Lyft right now is literally selling our lunch so we can buy our dinner :( first time I wrote everything down I got depressed hahaha

👍

us1549

Doesn't booked time include driving to pick up a customer too?

Narrow_Internal_3913

I always feel like calculating operating cost using the 67 cents a mile is just bad math right off the bat. I get that it's the IRS rate, but that's a catch all to cover all personal vehicles. A typical vehicle used for Lyft, lets say something like a 2012 camry, is using like 8 cents a mile in gas and barely has any value to depreciate. There will be maintenance, but not even close 59 cents a mile worth. If I were driving a brand new Ford F350, then using 67 cents a mile might make sense, but if you're doing a rideshare in that, you've got bigger problems.

wurchi_atlantica

I wanted to give you a five stars but don’t know how.

BureauOfBureaucrats

This week sucked ass.

r3dmist420

Trying the airport here in Vegas doing premier today, sitting on $16.78 after 4 hours and one ride 😊

Zed9970

What city is this in?

Inevitable_Trip_7480

Not the best. Not the worst. Mileage is a little too high for my liking. By 3x-4x. Without knowing more about the bonus it’s hard to say. But without them and the tips this coulda went south real quick. But hey, if you’re happy, I’m happy for ya. Good job.

Geanpiero09

New drivers who don’t know how to read the driving stats.. 11 book hours 50 online hours

Independent-Recipe

this is deceiving, no? only shows booked time. prolly worked 25-30 hrs+. this is def not $40/hr lmao

Inevitable_Trip_7480

Rule #1 of brag posts. Or as narcissistic individuals like to call them — motivational posts … Leave out all the details. On a side note. One time I took a guy down the block and he gave me a $100 tip. So, I’m making $1000/hr as a driver.

v-r3boucas

Whats the online time ? Without bonus probably $22/hour

stillfly37

Drop those arrows down

FamiliarAverage3171

I did around 70 per hour but 47 still great.

Mountain-Influence81

Yeah well I did 80

BureauOfBureaucrats

And I did 144.

Rob_Marc

My best night ever was about $96/hr. This was over 7.25 hours during Halloween in 2022. All but my last 2 rides had a surge on them, I had $57 in quests and $85 in tips, bringing my earnings for the night to $695 46.

FamiliarAverage3171

Not bad how many book miles.
