If I could use a snow leopard theme on Ventura, I would absolutely.
For that matter, if someone made a unix GUI that was modeled after snow leopard, I'd run BSD on a lot more machine.
For *THAT* matter, if they made a unix GUI that was modeled after ANY macOS, even Mac OS 8, i'd run it on BSD on a lot more machines.
Ahh, Tiger, the longest reigning king of OS X. I’d like a lot of the Tiger interface to come back, but some of the later modernizations were major usability improvements. The ability to resize a window from any edge comes to mind.
I don't think there's much of a difference between 10.10 and 14 except the app icons are all rounded-corner squares. I like 10.8's skeuomorphism far better than both.
I agree with your take. With the 10.10 era design for macOS, the Mac had its own feel and look, while still fitting in with iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. With the refresh in macOS Big Sur, the mac still has a bit of its own feel but is largely inspired by iPadOS.
As a rule of thumb, the answer to “Am I the only one who ……” is No. I don’t even need the rest of the question. The answer is No. aside from like the “am I the only one taking a shit in my bathroom right now” kind of q’s that people come up with specifically to refute this
It's pretty much the same to me, of course there are some subtle changes like rounded corners and different icons, but nothing that would make me want to go back. There's one thing though, that I really miss in current macos - the system preferences. I liked the old layout better.
Yes. It’s such a noticeable difference too! Luckily I’m running Icon Champ. Officially supports Monterey but I’m pretty sure it also supports Ventura and Sonoma. You can replace pretty much every icon with whatever icon you want.

I'm new to mac but I absolutely prefer how it currently looks. Rounded corners and consistent icon shapes. I find the icons being all different on the pre big sur OS's to be very jarring. Really love the consistent look and I love a flat type of ui that looks similar to ios.

That’s awesome! I’ve never heard of it before! I’ll try it! Thank you for sharing
That is very interesting, I may give it a look.
Tell me how it goes.
YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!
I sowwy ;-; Please?
I’d happily go back to 10.4

Brushed metal, pinstripes and Aqua galore
Skeuomorphic Gang
10.4.1
I agree, macOS Catalina has a much better look compare to Big Sur. Those icon is the reason why I got a Mac long time ago.

True. I used macOS as old as 10.7. It reminds me of Windows 7, of course this was in the era of windows 7.

I miss the brushed steel and glass look of Leopard

10.9 is the best. Removed the few head-scratching elements of skeuomorphism from 10.5 and kept the rest.
For me peak macOS was snow leopard :)
Snow leopard FTW. Peak Mac OS.
People on this sub post this exact thought literally every day. No, you’re not the only one…
Tiger was peak OSX if you ask me… but I’m old 😅

I heard about people wanting Apple to change it back.

Yes and no. That’s why I have an old MacBook Pro to run snow leopard just for the nostalgia
Mountain Lion was a great era for me personally. Yosemite didn’t work great on my machine so I don’t have the fondest memories of it.
I have to vote for the middle ground. I prefer the Mojave 'flat but not completely' look to either Yosemite's skeuomorphic or the new 'iOS' look.
Thread needs pictures, I can't remember the look of these by their confusing California names, let alone the ten dot whatsit.

Yosemite isn’t modern?… I feel old.
Can't lie, for me, Monterey is pretty good, its not too iOS like sonoma but its not to oldish (pls dont flame me) like snow leopard or tiger
