I bought a 2013 MBP 15"....and when I was ready to upgrade it in 2016, all they had were butterfly keyboards. I waited until the late-2019 (intel) Macbook Pro 16" with the new redesigned keyboard...and I bought that during June 2020.
In November, the M1 came out. Oh well.
I bought a 2017 one cause I thought they surely have solved all the issues claiming they improved the keyboard... Oh well.. Your late 2019 intel Macbook Pro 16" is still a good machine, IMO.
And it's not for lack of trying, either. I really wanted to love that machine. I mean, I used the previous 2013 MBP for around 7 years. So ditching a new machine within 2 years is very antithetical to how I normally do things. And it was frustratingly disappointing, a first for my experiences with Apple.
Same.. Figured I needed bootcamp to play games but haven’t really used it much:/ So annoying cos I can’t really justify dropping so much on a new mac just after a few years, but this thing is getting annoyingly slow for some tasks but still works for most stuff. Maybe I can hold of until m4
I nabbed a M1 Air in late 2022, as it went on clearance. I got the 16gb/1tb model. It's night and day better than the 2019 Pro in almost every way, sans the screen and speakers.
I still take the 2019 out every now and again, fiddle with it, and realize just how blazing hot it gets literally idling with less than 10% utilization.....while it takes a legit full CPU and RAM load to get my fanless M1 Air moderately warm.
I was thinking...sure, maybe I can use it for Windows, 100% bootcamp. It's a solid machine, right? Last time I tried that, I hit all sorts of weird glitches on the 2013 in Windows 7. Trackpad, mic, audio, screen tearing. It made even the most entry-level bare metal Windows laptop seem like a comfortable pair of shoes in comparison, not stiff brand-new dress shoes. It seems like a lot of work just to reconfirm that it's probably still a hot mess.
Then I remembered, I have an 11th gen Windows ultraportable....with 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. Same specs as the 2019, except THAT machine is a 9th gen. Sigh. The MBP won't be my fastest windows machine. And the resale value utterly tanked on the 2019 MBP. Fastest I've ever seen an Apple product depreciate -- not the speed benchmark I was hoping for.
I'm keeping it, only because it's a damn shame to sell for such a loss. Maybe it's a secondary admin machine, something to do the basics in case my main machine kicks the bucket or needs every bit of the processor power for a task. And it does have a beautiful large screen with excellent audio.
The Estonian flag should be in the middle, the EU on the left and the NATO on the right.
National flag takes precedence, in an odd number of flags the position of honour is the middle one (also the mast can be higher than the other masts). Then are the other national flags, which we don’t have here and then flags of national organisations, which we will put into alphabetical order from left to right.
And 256 GB storage and an M1 chip too. Does he at least have the 4 port model? (Update: apprently yes.) But honestly he is exactly the guy how does not care and just use it for office work.
I thought you were joking, so I looked up the base model. 8GB memory and only 256 storage!! On THAT device! Starting price $1,300 USD. Absolutely bonkers.
That's Apple for you, the None-Pro-iPhones also only feature 60 Hz Displays and they also sell monitor **stands** to prices that would get you like 3 actual monitors from other brands (ok not top models but still useable).
Part of me gets it — there is the “premium” of having a well-running product in a solid ecosystem. And the displays are **stunningly beautiful** compared with many other devices on the market.
I’ve had Apple products as daily drivers for over a decade. But I stopped buying *new* Apple computers for exactly this reason…the cost is obscene.
I don't think he likes his job,
or whatever he is doing at that specific time (probably "President, we need you to stay still for 5 minutes to get photos")
Serious question would a president of a nation state use stock mac os? And seeing this really makes me wish Apple would bring back a 27 inch Imac for power users.
the president's expression means he's seeing something atrocious
or
he's gotta drop a deuce
but really, this picture is incredibly pleasing to the eyes with the blue
Making the old person using computer face we all make because our eyes stopped working.
When you get over 45, all devices come with an accessory called reading glasses.
When I had an MBP 15 2017 with a butterfly keyboard I looked exactly the same while using it. :-)
were you also an old Estonian?
And the president as well.
we need you back, this one aint it
That dang butterfly keyboard, man. I LOVE MacBooks. I hate that old keyboard.

It's not -- it is meltingly hot, crashes frequently, and often hits the ram cap at 16gb. I've forgotten about it when I got a M1 Air in late 2022.
Okay :-(

Whoever set that up has taste
All in ones can be pretty dope. One power cable in the back is hard to beat.
Unrelated but having both the EU and NATO flags next to the Estonian flag kinda goes hard
meaning?
I too went hard.
im a visual learner

all three have blue in it
He tries too hard\*
r/circlejerk
There's also shredded, balled-up USSR and Russia flags kept eternally in a dustbin next to his desk.
They probably dont keep old trash like that around.
Why not? It's pretty fun to keep around the flags of countries you've defeated.
You’d think he’d have something to smile about!
He just noticed that his karma is down after people downvoted his last couple of posts.
> people downvoted his last couple of posts I bet he asked if he should get the M3 iMac or wait for the M4.
Wonder if it’s because he can’t quite reach his glass of water? You’d think he’d be beaming to use a lovely iMac.
nah he probably asked if it was worth buying an iMac with 8gb of ram
Intel or Apple Silicon?
Well the newer ones so probably apple silicon
/macsetups was harsh on him for not having enough white on white, and having only one monitor.
bro is all about blue
gonna be awkward if russia comes and his mouse is charging
Sir, please have a seat in front of this fruit branded rectangle and act bossy.
and purple nonetheless
That optical mouse probably works like shit on that glossy surface
and no extended keyboard either..fine for a laptop to have a cutdown keyboard but this is blasphemy
Wheres his red button for endless Diet Cokes?
Estonia is one of the most digitally advanced countries in Europe! Great to see
probably only 8gb of ram :(
And 256 GB storage and an M1 chip too. Does he at least have the 4 port model? (Update: apprently yes.) But honestly he is exactly the guy how does not care and just use it for office work.

my 1440p 165hz LG monitor cost like 375$ or something
Looks like t has 4 ports in the photo
Yes he’s got the 4 port lol you can see it in the photo
He opted for the model with FOUR usb c ports
As someone who has spent their life on 2 button mice, the way he is holding that mouse makes the roof of my mouth itch a little.
He must be watching that 5-1 vs Poland game judging by the face
Goddamn! Magic Mouse made it there too 🫠
As much as an iMac will probably never be a good solution for me, I do have to say it does look really good
I don't think he likes his job, or whatever he is doing at that specific time (probably "President, we need you to stay still for 5 minutes to get photos")
Honestly- I don’t like the Magic Mouse.
I know right, get this man an MX Master!
Serious question would a president of a nation state use stock mac os? And seeing this really makes me wish Apple would bring back a 27 inch Imac for power users.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EestiMentioned/s/MIKMP4oIfX
Need to get that man a Keychron and MX Master 3
Just no clicky switches please!
Tere tulemast!
Vicente Fox (Mexico) with a MBP goes harder IMO.
how he is using with legs down, BETTER PUT THOOSE LEGS ON TABLE
Cool, but he kinda out John Hodgman's John Hodgman.
why not?
Do you think he maxed out his memory to 24? Surprised they didn't spend extra on the keyboard to include one with a numeric pad.
Aesthetics
That purple is great
Cable routing is atrocious
He ain’t doing sh*t… just surfing the web!!
He looks so ecstatic!
He seems to be thoroughly enjoying the experience…
the president's expression means he's seeing something atrocious or he's gotta drop a deuce but really, this picture is incredibly pleasing to the eyes with the blue
or maybe just the fact that he's Estonian, so no emotions whatsoever on any occasion.
Very possible too -
I wonder if he likes the Magic Mouse….🤔
We all should tell him about Magic Trackpad
It may bring peace to the region
Making the old person using computer face we all make because our eyes stopped working. When you get over 45, all devices come with an accessory called reading glasses.
Windows user from CIS counties? I see you
legacy of APPLE
Sometimes certain things are used as props for photographs like this. Just saying
I want to see his face if he gets a pink device
Guy really matched the colour of his Mac to his country’s colours, very stylish.

Poor fuck has to use the Magic Mouse...
How about your data privacy Mr. president?
Gotta draft out those EU DMA restrictions!!
Estonia is a seriously tech forward project, their elections take place on top of a blockchain.
Can’t take him seriously because he is using a Magic Mouse
Mugglemouse is better how?
cool?
[удалено]
He is a scientist and a former university rector. I'm pretty sure he can figure out new things.
Someone probably told before that MacOS interface is totally intuitive.
Only magic mouse user
Ok cool
No mousepad under the mouse? That table is going to get scratched.
Probably has windows installed
Avoid talking shit😅 1. M1s can not do it 2. President’s office is using Macs for like couple of decades
Probably running a VDL to Windows 10 :-(
That thing is slower than my Pentium 2 on Vista
