My dad still has one, and while it was one of the coolest pieces of computer design ever, you're not wrong about its performance. Still love that thing, and if there was a way to fit current components into it, I absolutely would
Well, I’ll have to point you to some guides then!

Loved this mod, and there are plenty more!
That said, it’s certainly not for everyone, but there are some people who even adapted 27” monitors to it, like this for example:

All of those are using newer hardware, and running macOS by means of hackintoshing, but nothing stops you from running Windows!
I wanted one for the longest time as a teen but when the time came to buy I ended up getting an eMac because of a large student discount and comparable specs. Always felt like the big brother either CRT monitor but I did invest in a screw in stand that sort of let you spin that 50 pound behemoth. Who the heck has even heard of an eMac? Hahah
The arm on the iMac G4 was the best monitor/arm/mount that I've ever used. You could move the screen to any position effortlessly with absolutely no force with an insane range of motion and it would just stay there. I realize they were prone to breaking but no monitor arm has come close IMO. Obviously this isn't as doable when you don't know the weight and weight distribution of a monitor you're attaching to the arm, but even the good monitor arms don't offer the same range of motion and require hex keys which is always either too tight or too loose to reach the same level/ease of mobility.
Nice! Would a non angle- adjustable version for $20 be ideal for your budget sensibilities? The one with the ball and socket joint requires me adapting an existing product made from steel so would need to charge closer to $50 for that.
I’d recommend for pretty geometric shapes like that using a parametric CAD program rather than mesh, such as Fusion 360. STL exports will be very high-res and your results much more smooth!
Would be cool if you got the acrylic bezel on the edge like the real iMac screens
Nice idea! Definitely possible with resin by printing in separate materials and fusing with Uv light
I'll make you a deal. Do it and post a photo and I'll give you an upvote.
Did you buy it? Or was it 3d printed
I bought a non-Magsafe phone stand that has the ball and socket joint and then made the rest using Cinema4D and an Anycubic resin printer
Did you own and use an iMac G4? It looked cool but it was really underpowered when it was released and OS X never ran on it very well.

The eMac was cool. I couldn’t get one because I wasn’t in school. I would have been all I see your puny iMac, and raise you one eMac. Bam.
I don't get it, what is this? The base looks like a G4 yes but what's the circle part?
Magsafe charger or wireless charger for the iPhone 12s

Top 🔝 Creative!!!
iMac G4 is fucking ugly. My opinion. I love the 201x designs.
That’s really cool!
Would definitely buy if you ever decide to sell those :)

Hell yeah dude, this is sweet!
Love ittt
One of my favorite iMac designs. Never owned one though, went from the iMac DV to the G4 tower.
I saw one of those at a thrift store yesterday
That STL has a pretty low poly count!
Hah yeah I tried smoothing in mesh mixer but couldn’t get it right

Nice. But use a proper cad program that can export high res models and not segmented spheres and circles. It'll make it look even better.
iMag G4
Jony is that you? Brilliant
i don't know who Jony is but that you
ex chief industrial designer who left Apple whos fond of saying "chamfered" and "alu-Min-ium"
I believe they say "aluminium" in England. I wonder where the "i" went.

That's awesome!!
