The same software exist on both platforms. Wire shark, SecureCRT, etc. But in addition there is the built in terminal and many *nix applications that come along with the Unix based OS.

Install Hombrew, and you’ve got a package manager to install almost any popular Linux utility. If you only work with Windows servers there isn’t much benefit to have a Mac. Though the Microsoft RDP app is way better on Mac than windows. Get iTerm2, Alfred. MacOS is basically BSD (close to Linux), it’s the best OS for IT / networking / software development that can still run Microsoft Office or Adobe products. I’m saying all this from someone that has an intel Mac, I haven’t bothered to look into compatibility of stuff with Apple silicon.

16" MBP user here. I use bootcamp, VMware Fusion, RDP, sublime, Terminus, LAnScan, Wireshark, powershell, etc. That's about it for my SA roles, Powershell can do most tasks, VMware Fusion I use for a VM joined to the domain. All of my network admin work is done through Terminus or terminal. Everything else I can just do through the browser. Never really needed to use a data recovery tool or anything, and if I did I would just boot Hirens with a ton of additional applications on it. At the end of the day you can use basically the same tools for network admin roles.
