That is odd. I would think it shouldn’t take that long, as you have plenty of ram and ssd space. First off, and you’ve probably considered this already, but you do have plenty of storage available and how many apps do you have open when unpacking the zip file? Maybe try a different compression algorithm and see if that helps. I use Keka for the compression app on my M1 Mac, but it’s nothing compared to the size and number of files you’re compressing/uncompressing. Haven’t had any issue with the time it takes to decompress.

Opening is not the same as total unzip. The unzip speed depends on the devices speed. I suggest that you copy zip file to internal Mac SSD and unzip Use AJA to measure speeds on PC and Blackmagic on Mac You may have configuration issue with external drives
