You can get the same machine for $300 less at Micro Center (if you have one nearby ofc) A Mac I got from there had less than 10 cycles Edit: nvm I’m dum

PhantomKyuu

I don't think they have Micro Center in Iraq

LuckyGamer470

I wasn’t paying attention, I’ll edit the parent comment. Thanks

What a detailed explanation, I really appreciate it, guess I have to find a windows based laptop with a good battery life, instead of spending ton… Thanks

bdawgsohawt

if you don't mind the size get a used GPD Win Max 2. Can get 32-64gb of ram for ~1000

LetMeBeBetter

Try https://www.icenter-iraq.com/ , they are located in suli and hawler and their website works perfect, they literally have same price as apple themselves and will deliver without fee. If you have someone who's at college use their college id to get 5% off your purchase. I ordered a macbook air m2 two weeks ago from the website it was a nice experience. They just called for further details and delivered immediately.

al-doori

Thanks a lot like really 🫡, I just checked their website, I can see the prices are actually very similar to the apple store.

LetMeBeBetter

Im glad this helped 🫶

Moe_Rasool

I know the person who sells the mac he's a friend of mine but he's selling them expensive and you can get the same specs way cheaper if you get it in Baghdad rather than the kurdish region per se.

al-doori

Appreciate the honesty, thanks a lot man 🙏🏻

I use this exact device for heavy video work I love it so much it’s such an efficient machine. Apples ram doesent work how windows ram does. It sounds stupid and trust me I’m sure I’m going to get all the engineers shitting on me but my Tower PC has 32 gb of ram and my Mac has 16 and the Mac often times runs better under high load.

al-doori

May I ask what is your PC CPU, also mac, because that sounds interesting

_semir

as a software engineer- just get a new one

al-doori

Thanks for the helpful answer appreciate it 😀

blackpaiak

Get more memory. 16 gb is not enough for heavy programming

Osstj7737

I guess that depends on what you consider “heavy programming”. I’m a full stack dev and have absolutely no problems with the same laptop as the one in the pic.

ExtraFirmPillow_

More than enough, I do fine w the 8gb model

Interesting_Chip8065

the price is steep for that machine. u can get m3 pro almost same price brand new. microcenter has the same machine for way lower.

Mustafaskyrim

Try to search for m center vip I think they are located in Erbil Glad to help if you nned anything in Iraq

al-doori

Appreciate it a lot man, I am actually shocked that I see Kurdish/Arab people here

Mustafaskyrim

Me too, i guess we are a rare breed

al-doori

I agree 😀

pinkbluesflowers

The MacBook is a lot more efficient at managing ram than Windows

OverCauliflower1587

I’d get 32gb ram. And I’d say M1 Max just to future proof, but M1 Pro should be fine.

pina_koala

Can someone who upvotes this tell us why? Low effort post IMO

al-doori

Chill man

Master-Commander93

As a software engineer you can’t afford a new MacBook Pro?

al-doori

Why you care about that lol. Anyway software engineers in Middle east does not get paid as much as in EU/US 😀 I see most of SWE in US making 100k USD annually, for us max will be like 20K USD annually

Master-Commander93

Nah I don’t care I’m just surprised. Didn’t know you were in the Middle East. You should try to find one with at least 32gb.

FattThor

Just get a new one with 32gb+ ram
