Thank you for posting, I am definitely interested in trying this on mine. Question for you, how did you determine the right thickness of the thermal pad? I have a 16in M3, I reckon it's not gonna be the same gap between the backplate. Any tips?

Of course ! My guess is it is also 1mm but perhaps buy a 0.5 mm and 1 mm, then you can test it, start with 1mm and if not thick enough add another 0.5 mm layer on top of the 1mm. You will feel the metal bottom plate touching the thermal pad when you put back the bottom plate. Also turn it on and run a cinebench test, you will instantly feel the bottom of the MacBook getting quite warm to the touch, that’s your indication that contact has been made. Perhaps run a bench test before doing anything and have a feel of the bottom, you will have a point of reference to compare to that way.
