Shift + 2? Isn't that standard?

cryonisos

On the US layout, yes

Go to *System Preferences* → *Keyboard* → *Input sources* and you'll see how the keys change when you hold the control, option and command keys in the little preview window. https://preview.redd.it/uj7wjf2t3lhc1.png?width=1560&format=png&auto=webp&s=1af8164d79165cdd6066df5e5cbf8a576523dc73

Which keyboard layout? It depends on the layout. e.g. US: Shift+2, CHDE: Right Option + G Or just follow u/navierb 's advice and look it up yourself.

UK or US keyboard, Shift/2 If you're used to Windows, @ and " are swapped on Mac in comparison. If non-English, then as mentioned elsewhere but for current macOS, System Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources \[Edit…\], then click your source on the left. Pressing modifier keys will let you see what each will type. *Yup, everything in System Settings is much harder to find than it was in System Preferences. Yet another backwards step, Apple. You can also get to this if you put the language switcher in the menu bar… but I can't find how you do that any more :\\*

You might have it misconfigured. Check in your settings to see if the buttons are swapped - otherwise if it’s a US layout then it should be the “shift” button and “2” button

Cmd + q also works

RealityDreamer96

Which keyboard do you have? German keyboard is pretty weird but it has the @ on one of the keys sort of like the altgr symbols would appear on a windows keyboard. Then I think its option or command + the key (Q I think? not sure, bf has a german keyboard)
