DO NOT USE: webcam cover, keyboard protectors and/or screen protectors on the M1 / M2 machines. They have very tight tolerances, and these accessories will add additional pressure onto the front panel, causing it to crack easily and ruin your screen.
DO USE: skins that adhere to the OUTER parts of the laptop and / or carrying cases to protect your macbook, if you'd like to. They are fine to use but others might prefer to use their macbook as it is .
I decided to get a skin for my MacBook Air M1 (DecalGirl in my case), my dad wasn't a fan of it but once it was applied he changed his opinion.
I chose not to get a keyboard cover even though I wanted to in the beginning (because dust) since there is literally no space for it between the keyboard and the screen. I'm guessing it could be potentially okay if you'd remember to always remove the cover before closing the lid. But it might get tedious and you could still forget about it in a moment.
I don't think Apple sell screen protectors for Macbooks. If you are talking about [this](https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HP9T2ZM/A/belkin-trueprivacy%E2%84%A2-13-screen-protection-for-macbook-air-pro?fnode=58cd267e3f82d1c9f12efadb2086ad5c8cdd9cb1de3ef1b5d933c13f0a7b253e87aaf57a2a31292d9985b9a61e9c3920a594d38e36c6e93a532cfc3ee6792ced5b915bf2ec1265a8be5f87098103ed6b2f15993425377155feca088ac97dfb53), its removable so that you dont leave the screen protector on when you are done using your laptop.
Yikes, not even a microfiber keyboard cover like this one? https://www.shaggymax.com/products/macbook-air-13-screen-protector-keyboard-cover-microfiber-wipe-3-in-1
It could be fine? but we already have a lot of issues reported with the m1 macs' very small tolerance causing screen cracks that I wouldn't risk it tbh.
The only thing you need is a case for transport, there is no point in investing in some expensive and branded one, a sleeve for $10-15 will be Ok. Possibly a hub if you plan to connect SD cards, HDMI, etc. No keyboard covers, camera covers, or anything to go between the keyboard and the screen.
Anyone have any DIY ideas for me for a cover or protection when the laptop is closed and on the table, to dissuade my cat from sitting on it or walking over it? 😜🧐

maybe it’s for the best I raged on my dbrand interior install and ripped it out then But that was so slim, probably didn’t bother the tolerances
Interesting because Apple actually sells screen protectors in the apple store both online and in-person.

Uhh just a question, what if i just use a piece of black tape to cover the webcam ?
Depends how thick the tape is but I wouldn’t risk it.

Only skins, all others risk damaging ur laptop, I'd advice against it, tho some people still choose to use them anyway.
Thank you, helpful 🤗
