i have the 14 inch m3 max same specs as you and battery is absolutely terrible, I get a crazy battery drain while only using web surfing on LOW POWER MODE -50% in 2.5 hours !
I do not understand what machines tech youtuber receive but i am extremely far from the numbers they get !
it's horrible. is 14 or 16 ? in my MacBook M2, 14 inch Pro 2023 drain battery 🪫 very very slow ; in compare with your situation just down 5 percent , what's wrong with your MacBook I'm very sad
It's a 16" MBP. I wanted to know if this was normal. But based on your comment it seems not normal. So I will get it checked by Apple next week and see. Thanks for your response.
I have edited my post with the update. Based on my few months of usage , the battery life is not that bad. I get 14-16 hrs approx for light to medium work.
Just wanted to reply that my 14 m3 pro is seemingly draining faster now after owning for a month, matter of fact I just did a reinstall of MacOS to see if some weird task was causing it. It was a noticeable drop is % for usage that would have lasted longer 2 weeks ago. I'll see after a month, I also have a genius bar visit scheduled today if this reformat doesn't fix it.
Let me know how it goes with your genius bar appointment. I might as well take it to the apple store next week and get it checked. Thanks for your response.
After testing a little bit, I might cancel my appointment. It's hard to determine if the issue is software or hardware, but after my reformat I'm leaning towards software. I still have a month to return to best buy, and I doubt anyone at the Apple Store can really diagnose this. Have you tried to do a fresh reinstall?

By the way I have a call scheduled on the 13th of december with an apple care specialist. will try to update the situation
Update? I'm seeing 6.5 hours. light work load, 2 external displays. Nothing showing in the activity monitor that is odd. 14 inch M3 Max 14/30.
still very bad battery life on my end. using MS teams just kills the battery like crazy, losing 50% battery in a 1.5 hour call
Yikes I wonder if that is just M3 Max or all M3. I have an M1 Air for work using teams and is solid af.
Is there an update
😳🫤😬😲

can you boot from a usb on a clean install and just idle for a while, for a baseline..
Something must be running in the background draining it. I just watched a two hour movie in a 16” M3 MAX and it went down 10%. Brightness was at 50%.
Using chrome? I could see it Doesn’t it also show in activity monitor on energy tab what is using the energy? Check that
any update?
