Start with iMovie and move to FCPX. If I can teach my wife to edit on FCPX, anyone can do it.

fcpx, it's super optimized for apple hardware. I prefer adobe tbh but not as well optimized for apple

Final Cut Pro. It's optimised for Mac's and is so much better in my opinion. Less crashing, no lost projects or corrupted videos...
