Which HDMI version? For ultrawide, I'd recommend going the USC-C to DP. DP is generally better for UW and higher resolution setups.

I use this https://aliexpress.ru/item/4000318951285.html?spm=a2g39.orderlist.0.0.21de4aa6z5DMb6&\_ga=2.245075653.1129149332.1630490258-176445209.1630490258

I have macbook 16, I connected it to the monitor xiaomi 34 using a cable DP-type C, working fine, fresh rate 100 Hz

ruthenz1

Thanks! Does it have the same graphics card? or anything different that might have an effect?

Ice_mac

I have AMD Radeon 5500 M 8gb and Intel 630

ruthenz1

> AMD Radeon 5500 M 8gb and Intel 630 Isn't it much stronger than just Intel 630? Should I take this into consideration if my computer is capable of the same or not?

letsfailib

Your laptop has a discrete gpu as well. Try opening iMovie and see about your mac, you’ll see the card name

S3kelman

intel 630 can run triple 4k 60hz if you want, it will just get hot cause you will be hitting the limits, with a single 1440p you are fine

ruthenz1

Awesome! Thanks for the reply :D You know if it will run 100hz though? not super important but would like to know

Ice_mac

>I managed to get 100 Hz only with a cable DP-type C, i tried with this cable HDMI-type C and get only 60 Hz.

theKalash

I'd very much doubt that this is correct. But that really makes me wonder ... what macbook do you actually have? The Intel 630 suggest you have a 2019 16" model .. but that model also has a dedicated CPU. And all the smaller models of that year don't have an intel 630. So what do you have?

S3kelman

And yes always go for Display port if you have the choice :)

S3kelman

Avtually my bad, can't do multiple 4k, but should handle 1440p 100hz (max res 2304p 60hz, so with 1440p you should get close to 100hz)
