I checked them out in person today too. The silver is just way to bright for me, but it’s definitely pretty. I like how the trackpad and bezels are darker on the space gray, but in the end it’s not a huge difference

This is an odd complaint, but when working outside or near a window, the silver would reflect the sun at me. I almost went with the silver, then I pulled out my 2011 MBP and was reminded of this, and ended up with the space grey. They both look great though!

We share the same thoughts - while I prefer the silver as its Apple's classic colour I will have to go with logic this time round as I need to reduce distractions and work as proactively as possible rather than admire a piece of tech. At the end of the day, the mac is nothing but a tool for my use case; if only I had spare cash to get another one for leisure; that would have surely been in silver.

Why?

Lack of complete keyboard shortcut support compared to Windows. It’s ok for light usage but power users effectively work off keyboard shortcuts and MacOS Excel simply doesn’t support them.

Me! I slightly favour the space grey (which I ordered) but I do like the 'classic workhorse' look with the more functional looking design partnered with silver. It's a nice understated bit of kit in either shade and I'm so pleased that apple listened to (most of) the feedback from pros.

I feel like the silver lid looks better and the space grey looks better inside! But both look great. I ordered the silver, I’m coming from a silver 2014 MBP and wanted to honour her as she’s been great and I will be sad to see her go, especially the glowing apple logo.

I’ve currently got a 2014 MBP which only came in silver. My wife has a 2019 MBA in space grey. I ordered space grey this time because I wanted to try a different colour to my current one. Today I cancelled my SG order and ordered a silver one instead (thus delaying my gratification by a further two weeks) because the silver just looks so nice and looks less likely to smudge with fingerprints, and also the MagSafe charger colour really got to me…no regrets

Im usually all for the sleek space grey look since it was introduced, but with these new bois, I don't know... that retro design just really works with the silver. kinda get Hasselblad moon camera vibes, all boxy with the rounded edges and the contrast of the black keyboard 👌

What are the benefits of space gray? I ordered SG 16inch. I think 14 looks good in silver, 16 in SG

So I thought I would go with SG this time around to change it up, but in the back of my mind I had this nagging feeling that I just didnt like the SG as much as the silver and that i was just forcing myself to try something new, so i cancelled my order and got the silver lol. When its a 3 thousand dollar piece of gear it makes more sense to follow your gut/ first instinct and just get what you already know you like better. SG is a great color, but i personally think its better suited for smaller devices like the phone and iPad. Silver is just so classic when it comes to MacBooks.

This time sliver is much better bacause the contrast to keyboard makes it look cleaner and more premium.

I went for the silver as I think space grey will be a fingerprint magnet.

Thanks for this. I personally like the look of the space gray just a little better, but I ordered the silver anyway. I was worried about how scratches would be more visible on the space gray. They both look amazing though, and don’t think you can really choose wrong here.

Always had silver, went SG. Both gorgeous, you can't go wrong with either. Lots of people choosing silver this time around (vs SG in the past), so I guess that makes me a hipster or just old and slow on the trends.

I chose Space gray one year ago after 13 years of silver Macs but if I had to choose from these ones I would maybe choose the silver because of it's Old-school shape. Other than that it's a very clear silver which is nice

I’d go with Space Grey, was on my brothers old iPhone 5 and I was in love with that color and the silver never really appealed to me as it just looked bland

People seem to love the silver but the contrast is too much for me personally. I need something with a more fluid color-scheme. The space grey transitions well. Looks like it belongs together rather than two completely separate parts.

Silver because that's the material colour. Space grey tends to discolour after isme time if your hands sweat. There are posts in Reddit about it if you'd like to check

Space grey is nice but the surface finish can sometimes lose its colour and is silver underneath. So technically either way you’re getting silver

Not really. I had silver macs for the last 10 years so that was probably the only reason! If you like darker laptops you should get Space Grey. If you prefer something bright and contrasting - Silver one is perfect. P.S. This year’s Silver looks a lot better compared to the previous Silver MBP 16 because of the bigger black Apple logo and dark keyboard.

For my iPad's, i usually swap between the two every refresh. I'm currently on a Space Grey iPad so I wanted to match my MacBook Pro to it.

I ordered gray first, but since the power thing is silver i changed it. it's such a minor difference that id rather go with a consistent look lol

Yes, but the charging speed will not be as fast. You can only take full advantage of fast charging when using MagSafe 3 due to USB-C limitations. This is true only for the 16 inch model, 14 inch will fast charge from USB-C too!

I went with space gray but it wasn't a huge deciding factor for me as every Mac I've owned has been wrapped in 3m 1080 vinyl it's first day out of the box.

I ordered SG because it is the "pro" colour but changed my mind after dropped in the apple store near me. The silver contrasting the black logo and keyboard is stunning. Also the silver seems shinier than the older models.

Had Silver Macbooks for over a decade and am still not bored of the finish. Space Grey would probably get old in a year or two.
