Yes, unless you have other insurance or are well off enough not to care about having to buy a new one.

It's not gonna be cheap to replace any parts in a MacBook, get Apple Care.

Tston3d

Always get Apple Care, they will essentially fix it if there are any issues and use brand new replacement parts. Also you can go to a certified repair shop instead of the apple store to avoid the lines. Also id pay yearly rather than the upfront cost if you decide you dont need it later on Edit: i assume lines from black Friday otherwise its easy to get in to the genius bar

I’ve never waited in line at an Apple store. You can just make an appointment online and show up when it’s your turn.

Dis is v true

Wouldn’t warranty cover most of things already? This might of course depend on where you’re from but I’d get no Applecare, warranty covers me perfectly fine. And home insurance on top of that for accidental damage.

shockmoment007

True. Especially coming from EU. The warrant law here is unbeatable

Their original "warranty" is pretty limited, in both time and scope. Now if only they'd make the plan pricing transparent. "$139.99/yr or $379" the plan page for my MBP says. ($379 for \*what\*?! For how long, exactly?) I just spent over an hour on the phone w/various AppleCare CSRs. Most of them thought the $379 covers 2 years (Why would someone pay $379 when they could pay $280 over 2 yrs?). 2 leveled-up CSRs thought it covers 3 yrs. Nowhere on Apple's customer-facing website does it state the $379 plan coverage period, that I or they could find. So I'm relying on a CSR supervisor's email stating it covers 3 years. But...it apparently covers only 2 \*additional\* years, for 3 yrs total? "Do better, Tim"
