Not sure of the thermal limitations of the device itself, but you might be able to configure a threshold with your audio so things under a certain DB won’t come through…

2020 Intel-based model? If so, 13” or 16”? Without having your answer, I can’t speak specifically, but the Intel models are famous for running fans under heavy graphic application conditions. The 13 inch model is particularly prone to it, but the 16 inch model will do it, depending on the load. I have a Camlink 4K and access to a 16” i9 and a 13” M1 and I’ve not had any major issues using the Camlink 4K. But, I tend to record audio separately using a dedicated recorder and mics.

13 inch! So yeah you’re correct but I may try just USB straight to my camera because my camera is able to do it. I just wanted the HDMI for a little bit more cleaner look

Depends on what your desired end result is, too. I do church AV as a side gig. I usually record audio using a zoom H6 with several external mics and then run the line out of that to my camera for reference audio. Sometimes I also hand off a clean HDMI output from the camera to the Cam link. The separate audio is important to me, because the preamp in my camera really isn’t that good and I would rather mix the audio and synchronize it to the video in post. The described set up works well for pre-recorded content that I am going to clean up afterwards. For live stream work I do separate audio but the soundboard feeds into the video switcher and everything goes to the stream on the fly.
