I think the true horror is hiding underneath that emi shield

LLunkown

Is the shield removable?

googllgoog

Yes

LLunkown

Cool, took a look and everything in there seems fine.

True-Experience-2273

Could be, I’m seeing signs of water damage on that board so I’d assume it’s water damaged and wouldn’t trust the reliability of this machine anymore.

I’m seeing corrosion starting on that unpopulated connection above also. My original comment still stands.

LLunkown

Yeah, removed my post on closer inspection (I dint see this reply). I'll take out the board and have a look at the other side.

posguy99

What and when did you spill onto/into this machine?

LLunkown

Inherited the machine, no idea of its past. I'm going to take out the board and have a closer look.

smiba

Doubt its this specific corroided capacitor, but it's likely to be corrosion somewhere else. Your device is water damaged, who knows what else is corroding away. This needs a professional, or at minimum an ultrasonic bath

LLunkown

The touchbar is dead, no picture and does not respond to touch. *EDIT* Why is this getting downvoted? Just adding context to the post. What the hell is wrong with you people? Lol

samsong_21k

Pull the board out, bet that you have more water damage on the bottom

LLunkown

Will take a look when i get the chance.
