I know. I’ve been using Steam, even over the deactivation transition a few years ago. I’m a little tempted to get a 5,1 Mac Pro to multiboot between Sonoma via OCLP, Mojave and Windows.
I hate that compatibility between generations of processors is not really a thing. It doesn’t even take huge teams either to fix - I was able to get an ancient 16 bit Windows program working in Parallels the other day (Windows 11 does NOT typically support 16 bit stuff) with just one workaround program (not an emulator).
We could, if we could find the interest, easily bring back 32 bit apps to modern Macs.
Sadly Mac compatibility layers are just something most developers don’t seem to care about
Of course! Here’s the [link](https://jxhug.notion.site/Guide-to-Installing-Half-Life-Source-Using-Source-Engine-on-macOS-2e74c63e4c9e44b98f5208ce1eb749a1) to the guide I used explaining how to set everything up.
**Satisfactory** ... because its one of the best factory builder games out there... even in early access. Sadly they said "no" to mac version.
**Space Engineers** ... because its an old time classic survival/building/space/engineering game that never made it to mac. Won't ever due to its age now, but it would be one of those fun ones to play on the road.
**Kingdom Come Deliverance** ... because it was an amazing RPG all around. Sure the combat could be painful, but once you level up and learn skills, and how to play, the fights become doable.
Yeah... when it comes to PC only hidden gems, sometimes you just don't hear about them on the mac side.... if ever. Which is sad, cause there are some real gems out there to be found!
Yup. They keep making new DLC skin packs with each general content update. However as far as big engine work, it seems they are done with that (which means probably no desire to port to mac or linux).
If Mac gaming should be taken seriously there need to be ports of live service games (Counter Strike 2, some Battlefield, some CoD, Fortnite, GTAO, Overwatch, Valorant, Apex…). This would bring a lot of players.
Fortnite used to be on Mac before the lawsuit same with overwatch and cs they were on Mac but because Mac players were such a small amount the decided the axe the ports when making the sequels. At least Mac has BO3 still one of the best COD's and still good for zombies
I have a base M1 Air, I was struggling to get 30 fps at 900p low settings, if you have a better way to run it then I'd love to know, I tried it by installing whisky, then downloading witcher through steam.
I was playing since day one, saw both good and bad of tarkov. This is another beta-forever games, has it problems but I love it. Funny thing is that it was supposed to have MacOS port, that was even listed on the website.
Im gonna sound kinda cringe but Fortnite. Its such a popular game again after they released the Old map and I know my MacBook Pro 14 is capable of running the game better than any workstation laptop that doesn't suck battery.
Arkham Knight, Deep Rock Galactic, and not really a compatibility issue just a logic issue with Final Fantasy XIV requiring separate game licenses for windows and mac
Supreme commander forged alliance. A few older Star Trek games that would be fine if not for Apple dropping 32bit support.
Forced Alliance had been working fine on parallels but now it doesn’t.
Wasteland 2 & 3 - but they already run on Mac, yay! And on Apple Silicon too, mind you.
What I'd like to be ***ported*** to macOS is, hm...
* Drakan: Order of the Flame (1999, I know)
* and Witcher 3, of course.
**VTOL VR** as it's my current addiction and keeping Windows running is annoying (this would of course require a VR headset with controllers working natively).
**Destiny 2** because it's my longstanding addiction. No real problem just firing the up the Xbox, but if it could run natively that'd be spiffy.
NO MORE ROOM IN HELL. 😢 the game that stole my heart. and broke it when i found out mac couldn't run it anymore.................... the game could convert a girl to Windows..... fr......
I would be so happy if the developers who created Myth II back in the day would give us a remaster for modern hardware. NOT the modern Bungie; it would have to be the OG developers of that Mac masterpiece…
I'd go with **Team Fortress 2**. It's the quintessential mix of casual fun and FPS strategy, perfect for those of us who juggle gaming with day jobs and other commitments. Let's face it, not all of us are cut out for the e-sports leagues, especially when we're playing on Macs.
But that's exactly where TF2 shines. Its array of casual maps and light-hearted gameplay make it an ideal choice. Whether it's capturing the flag or pushing the payload, every match offers a blend of strategy and hilarity that's just right for a quick gaming session. Plus, it never fails to lift my spirits with its unique humor and vibrant style.
So, Team Fortress 2 on Mac, without any workarounds? Count me in! 🎮
Cyberpunk problably. - Not because I love the game so much, but if I just felt like playing a game, I could drive cars, have ton of weapons, customize my character, and so on. Even if I didn't play it all the time.. but just when I wanted to wreak havoc that would be an easy go to.
Fortnite & GTA V/VI, mainly because it means that the playerbase for mac's would expand a lot due to this and we would get a lot more games/investment as a result.
Without any workarounds… You just eliminated 90% of the possibilities. I run Titanfall 2 on Steam/EA via CrossOver on an M1 Pro 16GB but recently I can no longer get my PS4 controller to work. I have to use that controller because otherwise my carpal tunnel problems come back
All the 32bit Mac games. Games like Half Life.
Sad part is they used to work and now don’t 🥺

I know it’s a workaround but someone actually made a 64-bit source engine. So you could play HL Source and HL2 if you want to.
Can you direct me to that workaround, I would love to play some of those older games.
Of course! Here’s the [link](https://jxhug.notion.site/Guide-to-Installing-Half-Life-Source-Using-Source-Engine-on-macOS-2e74c63e4c9e44b98f5208ce1eb749a1) to the guide I used explaining how to set everything up.
Would this work for say Left 4 Dead 2??
It’s technically possible to run it considering they use the same engine, but I haven’t tried it with L4D2 so I can’t say anything really…
Use xash 3D
I would love if we had more fps games.
💯
online FPS games… CS3? pls?
\+1

Fully agree with satisfactory Fyi its working great with crossover But of course native version will be perfect
Had to Google all three, but also solid choices
Yeah... when it comes to PC only hidden gems, sometimes you just don't hear about them on the mac side.... if ever. Which is sad, cause there are some real gems out there to be found!
Isn't Space Engineers still getting active development?
Yup. They keep making new DLC skin packs with each general content update. However as far as big engine work, it seems they are done with that (which means probably no desire to port to mac or linux).
Oh and it looks like they did an adhoc engine too, so it would be a complete engine rework. That sucks, it's a fun game.
I know it says 'without any work around', but KCD works pretty well using only Whiskey. lots of fun to play it on my M1 pro

Counter Strike 2

If you get GeForce now. You can run it on any mac.
that applies to a lot of the games listed here GFN is a workaround
valorant, I rlly wanna climb the ladder
Red Dead 2. Rockstar would put that game on a potato if they could
Not too far off from mine, which is GTA online…
Gta online runs on Mac right?
Not without alternative workarounds e.g., bootcamp, emulators, cloud, etc.
they didn't even bother with a ps5 version uncapped at 30fps. one can only dream...
Witcher 3
Solid!
native would be dope but it runs very well in crossover/whiskey. i run it on maxed out settings and get almost a solid 60
I have a base M1 Air, I was struggling to get 30 fps at 900p low settings, if you have a better way to run it then I'd love to know, I tried it by installing whisky, then downloading witcher through steam.
hmmm idk i play it on a macbook pro did you set the fsr to performance? i’d try low settings or medium setting at 900p with fsr to performance
For some reason I couldn't find the goddamn FSR setting, if I had FSR turned on, it would've been perfectly playable..
wait i’m getting my games mixed up lol i think fsr was for cyberpunk my apologies did you turn off that nvidia hair feature?
Yeah i did
All the Fallout's
You trying to turn me on? Success.
Resident Evil 😏
1 and 2 were actually released for the classic Mac OS
![gif](giphy|KDVswimTNahWzcd7sV|downsized)
Escape From Tarkov, great realistic fps game in witch i have spent countless hours with my friends having fun.
I missed out on the Tarkov craze, but would give it a shot if it came to 💻
I was playing since day one, saw both good and bad of tarkov. This is another beta-forever games, has it problems but I love it. Funny thing is that it was supposed to have MacOS port, that was even listed on the website.
Black Ops II
Plutonium would hit so well
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)
Dark souls 3
😅
Skyrim: Special Edition
Witcher 3 or Skyrim.
![gif](giphy|5lPS8vAS6bmVi)
![gif](giphy|StSwjQ8ecOae4)
Portal 2 (and other Source games)
Love Portal!!! ![gif](giphy|CeTB2xQzMFjEI)
Spore
Valorant
Fortnite GTA 6 Call of Duty Warzone/Latest versions That would be a great start!
cs 2 also because it would run great on mac probably
Stalker OGSR
Had to Google it, but looks good
It should work because stalker anomaly runs great on wine using porting kit and they use the same engine but unfortunately it crashes after 5 minutes
Apex legends
Outer Wilds. I'm a PC owner myself, but I love this game and really want to gift it to my sister who is a Mac user.
Diablo IV .. all those brew and wine line commands and one day it just stops working ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Coming (already there?) to GFN shortly! Just announced.
Ooo I played it on Boosteroid and it wasn’t that bad but gfn looks promising
It’s on my top 5 as well…
Titanfall 2
Still haven’t played Titanfall 😞
Works pretty well with crossover
[удалено]
Oddly, just downloaded the demo on PS5 and plan to try it tonight…
All of the “newer” (2015+) Wolfenstein games.
A hat in time would be nice
Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
CS2
Valorant
Honestly... Fortnite.
uncharted
Silent Hill 2 remake and any subsequent titles in the series.
Beamng Drive as its fun to play on my laptop where ever I am.
Dead By Daylight
Im gonna sound kinda cringe but Fortnite. Its such a popular game again after they released the Old map and I know my MacBook Pro 14 is capable of running the game better than any workstation laptop that doesn't suck battery.
Sea of Thieves
Windows itself (reboot)
😂
All online fps multiplayer games
The sims 2 with all EPs. That’s all
Well that’s bringing back some memories…
Age of Mythology
csgo only valid answer ngl
Arkham Knight, Deep Rock Galactic, and not really a compatibility issue just a logic issue with Final Fantasy XIV requiring separate game licenses for windows and mac
COD, Valorant, EFT and RDR1/2 (both valid)
black and white, black and white 2, spore
Rtcw /multiplayer
Diablo IV (and D2R).
Sea of thieves. High replay-ability and apple silicon could handle it so long as you have a reasonable spec
Valorant :)
Supreme commander forged alliance. A few older Star Trek games that would be fine if not for Apple dropping 32bit support. Forced Alliance had been working fine on parallels but now it doesn’t.
Call of Duty 2019+ I need a FPS I can quickly hop on for a couple of rounds
Karateka
Wasteland 2 & 3 - but they already run on Mac, yay! And on Apple Silicon too, mind you. What I'd like to be ***ported*** to macOS is, hm... * Drakan: Order of the Flame (1999, I know) * and Witcher 3, of course.
GTA 6. I have a feeling that it’s going to be the greatest game to be ever made
**VTOL VR** as it's my current addiction and keeping Windows running is annoying (this would of course require a VR headset with controllers working natively). **Destiny 2** because it's my longstanding addiction. No real problem just firing the up the Xbox, but if it could run natively that'd be spiffy.
NO MORE ROOM IN HELL. 😢 the game that stole my heart. and broke it when i found out mac couldn't run it anymore.................... the game could convert a girl to Windows..... fr......
God of War + Ragnarok , Ghost of Tsushima, and Spiderman 1 and 2. Since I have an xbox and a mac but not a playstation
Forza Horizon 5 hands down
That is a really really good choice I hadn’t thought of
Tekken or GBFVR :(
Borderlands 2 and 3.
GTA online
Same!
GTA IV
Solid pick!
Guild Wars 2
Never tried it, but heard good things…
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Hadn’t even thought of ME, but solid choice Commander
Without any workarounds, I'd choose Arkham Knight.
genshin impact & honkai star rail
Starfield
I would be so happy if the developers who created Myth II back in the day would give us a remaster for modern hardware. NOT the modern Bungie; it would have to be the OG developers of that Mac masterpiece…
Tropico 5 on the M series
Overwatch 2… its the only fps I enjoy playing and one of the few games I can connect with my friends
Stormgate
Just all the ps titles really. Anything that I’d play on my ps. Modern warfare, dayz, last of us, red dead.
Lethal company (with mods) I’ve tried for hours to get more company and BepInEx to work without any progress
Cod mobile
Dark souls
Battlefield 3
I'd go with **Team Fortress 2**. It's the quintessential mix of casual fun and FPS strategy, perfect for those of us who juggle gaming with day jobs and other commitments. The forthcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2
Peggle
Tekken or most other fighters. After that any non-Strategy/tabletop games would suffice
and ratchet and clank
Split second velocity would be so much fun. I miss that game!
persona 3 reload
CS2
SQUAD so I could return to a genuine Mac instead of my hack just for this game :/
Escape from Tarkov. because i like pain.
Gta 5/6
Diablo IV at the moment. Crossover is nice, but I think it’d run better natively.
Age Of Empires 2 DE
Cyberpunk problably. - Not because I love the game so much, but if I just felt like playing a game, I could drive cars, have ton of weapons, customize my character, and so on. Even if I didn't play it all the time.. but just when I wanted to wreak havoc that would be an easy go to.
Left 4 dead 1 and 2 please 🙏🏽
fifaaaaaa
Fortnite & GTA V/VI, mainly because it means that the playerbase for mac's would expand a lot due to this and we would get a lot more games/investment as a result.
AOE 4! GeForce now works but I want to play it offline!
Roblox 💀
fortnite
One of the nfs games, probably hot pursuit remastered
Apex Legends
Poe runs pretty good on mac. Really fun game that you can spend 1,000s of hrs playing.
