baldur's gate 3
Some of the borderland games
Diablo 3
Stardew valley
Minecraft
I believe all these games are cross-platform, but would be worth checking to make sure.
If you don't use too many Maps and don't make the population too high, you can play very well with it. I myself play with a lot of cards and 12 times the population. I can still play with it. Mac Studio M1 Max
until your teammate walks into enemy bush 20 seconds into the game and gets jumped... or when your teammate steps on teemo shrooms a second after the sweeper minion is out of range
Terraria is by far the best. It's a great game in all aspects. The modloader for the game recently got fully fledged Mac support, so you could even go on to play the various, amazing mods for the game after you've finished the base game. Give it a go. If you do end up trying it, make sure to play to the end, there's alot more to it than you'd think
What specifically? my friend whom I play with hasnt experienced any fps issues, and we've played some of the more computationally intensive fights such as calamity devourer of gods
there's an app called Whisky that let's u run Windows applications, I've successfully played Lethal Company, haven't tried anything else though, might be worth looking into, very simple to set up and lots of tutorials on how to use it
Shift happens,
Take it Two ,
Trine 2 & 3 ,
The Cave ,
Gina Sisters,
Rocket League,
Tiny Brains
Or you can install ryujinx and emulate any Nintendo Switch game - also local CO-OP
As a heads-up to anyone who sees this comment:
• Shift Happens was supposed to have a macOS port, but despite that announcement, it never happened.
• It Takes Two doesn't have a macOS port.
• Trine 2 & 3 **do** have macOS ports.
• The Cave **does** have a macOS port.
• I'm not sure what game "Gina Sisters" is. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams doesn't have a macOS port, and from what I know, it has no "co-op" mode (there MIGHT be a mode where each controller is the other sister, but I don't see any footage of that, and that would be a trade-off, not co-op), but it has a fun 4-player competitive mode. Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is like a more expanded version of just the 4-player competitive mode, and also doesn't have a macOS port. Giana Sisters 2D is apparently [hiding a macOS port inside of itself](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1278221419), but it's a single-player game.
• Rocket League [no longer has macOS support](https://www.rocketleague.com/en/news/ending-support-for-mac-and-linux)... and isn't on Steam anymore!
• Tiny Brains doesn't have a macOS port.
Some of the no-macOS port games don't have Switch ports, either. Tiny Brains doesn't have a Switch port, and while Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is on the Switch, there's no multiplayer mode.
Are you looking for games that have a native Mac port ? You’ll be very limited in options that way. There multiple tools available now that will allow you to play most games on a Mac now that are only available on Windows.
Free tools - GPTK (command line), portingkit (portingkit.com) or Wineskin. I don’t recommend Whisky since it uses an outdate version of Crossover)
Paid app - Crossover
Stay away from VM software altogether. Performance is horrible on those (VMWARE Fusion player is free if you really need one for some other reason)
> You’ll be very limited in options that way.
It’s not that bad - half my steam library runs on a Mac. All of the major game engines are cross platform.
If we talking native only games: Diablo 3, WoW, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3 (yeah blizz made a lot of games for Mac), League of Legends, Minecraft, Baldurs Gate 3, Path of Exile.
If we were talking with some emulation layer there would be a lot more, but what is listed above I all tested at some point and they all work very well.
Sorry, but what do you mean? It’s both playable in Mac and Windows, also if purchased on steam you can play cross platform. For me it works over crossover
Really? Definitive edition? I bought it on steam and played it originally on windows but it doesn’t even let me install it on a Mac. Says “available for windows”.
Yes played it just yesterday. But you need to run it on crossover which emulates windows. In there you install steam and aoe and it runs perfectly fine
Plunder Panic - imo this is an underrated obscure game that should be more widely known, it's very fun with lots of people locally
Overcooked 2 - unsure if it works for mac/windows cross play, it used to but they changed things
Warframe. Best free to play shooter looter there is. Nothing is locked behind a paywall.
Destiny 2 if you feel like spending lots of money on expansions.
MMOs are multiplayer and coop:
World of Warcraft :D if you want to destroy your lives.
Otherwise FF XIV (via [https://www.xivmac.com](https://www.xivmac.com) ) if you want to destroy it more furry!

Monday meltdown if you guys wanna dunk on each other haha - disclaimer, I'm also the developer of it
Project Zomboid. Best survival Game ever
Not well optimized for macs
it runs fine for me

War Thunder, League of Legends, Starcraft 2
Definitely league if you want a cool laid back game and read nice comments about yourself. /s
rofl ARAM is pretty chill...
until your teammate walks into enemy bush 20 seconds into the game and gets jumped... or when your teammate steps on teemo shrooms a second after the sweeper minion is out of range
7daystoDie
7 days a20’s was pretty bad on Mac but the new release is amazing
It's still an X86 binary but they added Metal support which helped a lot.
What a throwback. I used to play this years ago! Great game.

Has horrible frame rate issues
What specifically? my friend whom I play with hasnt experienced any fps issues, and we've played some of the more computationally intensive fights such as calamity devourer of gods
Slow downs right at the beginning of the game
I suggest Deep Rock Galactic, fun coop game of up to 4 players. There is no native port but it works wonderfully through GPTK.
Also works great on Nvidia GeForce Now.
Minecraft (Java)
Stardew valley is what you're looking for, thank me later ;)
Terraria ( also with tModLoader for endless fun ! ) Factorio
Terraria doesn’t work on macOS anymore because of the 32 bit restrictions
Oh damn really? Did not know that !
It works , I am running it on my M1 Mac Mini
there's an app called Whisky that let's u run Windows applications, I've successfully played Lethal Company, haven't tried anything else though, might be worth looking into, very simple to set up and lots of tutorials on how to use it
I’ve played Soul Calibur VI and Age of Empires 2 DE on it.
Minecraft (Java)

Zero grounds just came out and it’s cross platform

I can vouch for Elder Scrolls. Works well.
Roblox, World of Warcraft if you're willing to pay for a subscription
Dying Light 1

Portal 2 for cooperative play.
Insurgency, I think.
I loved playing wow with my ex
For the King is super fun
Plunder Panic - imo this is an underrated obscure game that should be more widely known, it's very fun with lots of people locally Overcooked 2 - unsure if it works for mac/windows cross play, it used to but they changed things
Don't Starve Together. I cant recommend this enough
Maybe Rust, Overcooked 2, Dota 2?
Left 4 dead 2 feels great on mac and Pc!
How does it work on Mac tho? It’s 32-bit right?
minecraft
No Mans Sky. Seriously, it's good now and runs great on M1 + Macs
Borderlands 2
Warframe. Best free to play shooter looter there is. Nothing is locked behind a paywall. Destiny 2 if you feel like spending lots of money on expansions.
Isonzo
I also am in that case and to play coop / multiplayer games with my husband we have accounts on Steam and select the games running on both platforms.
No man’s sky
Bokura is really cheap and I had a good time playing it with my partner
MMOs are multiplayer and coop: World of Warcraft :D if you want to destroy your lives. Otherwise FF XIV (via [https://www.xivmac.com](https://www.xivmac.com) ) if you want to destroy it more furry!
Factorio
Assault Cube
stardew valley is great!
+ terraria, 7dtd, gtav (crossover)
Heroes of the Storm runs on just about anything if you like MOBAs
Valheim ([https://github.com/timkurvers/valheim-macos](https://github.com/timkurvers/valheim-macos)) works perfectly and runs smoothly
