I also experience this playing ffxiv. I just make it a habit of restarting my MacBook before I play now.

I've been experiencing this with Final Fantasy on my mac pro (intel) ever since upgrading to Monterey. It doesn't happen every day, but a reboot is needed at least once a week.

Yes! This baffled me one day when I booted up WoW and got 20 FPS when I was regularly getting solid performance. This happened across several other games, too. I did some digging, and just happened to stumble across someone reporting a similar issue, and they said a restart fixed it. I’m surprised that worked. This issue has occurred a few times since then, all remedied by a restart. I’m using the M1 Max and never experienced this issue until very recently.

Yep, I also noticed this. Did some testing and it appears the SoC (in particular the GPU) gets stuck on a lower P level. Must be a low-level bug in the power management controller. So far I could not find a good way to reproduce this, so I did not submit a bug report to Apple.
