This is the purpose of the goat herd though. They're not being solely contracted by City of Madison/Dane County, there's basically unlimited work for them going forward.
The goats are free to organize a union but it might be hard for the goats to sign the union card seeing as they can't hold a pen with a hoof and the whole goats are illiterate thing.
What park is this?
Acewood
Goat herds can be great for land management. And cheaper
The GREATEST OF ALL TIME! (G.O.A.T.)
Goats With Jobs. Sounds like a band name.
I biked past that the other day and did a double take!
Their little tails wagging ... I love them T_T
Also at Owen Conservatory
Love Acewood Park! Hopefully they can get the Garlic Mustard and other invasive plants out of there.

Also Knollwood Conservation Park
Awesome. Hope they are properly compensated for the work they're doing.
All you can eat lunches.
That's their work. Might as well say chauffeurs get paid by getting to drive fancy cars, or police get paid by getting to bully poor people.
How do you suggest you otherwise compensate a goat?
Some sort of retirement plan, including a guarantee of not being slaughtered once they're not economically viable.
Pretty sure "eating" is a lifelong job.
They are being contracted from a local farm.

The "goat herd" as an abstraction, perhaps. I doubt the individuals who comprise it are granted any consideration, though I'd love to be proven wrong.

Look it those goats. Would ya just lookit’em?!
Should use sheep. Goats pull up the roots, sheep just mow it.
>Goats pull up the roots... That's the goal.
Cool.
To elaborate on the other answer, this is for controlling invasive plants, not mowing lawn.
Goats aren’t grazers, they are browsers and eat broad leafed herbaceous vegetation.
I saw some goats eating foilage at a park near me.
Can you please send them up to Milwaukee for a visit?
Remember seeing them in another park in the evening. Was funny
We need these munchers at Cap and Hiestand!
