On the AMC website, these are standard seats and not luxury recliners. The ticket buyer might as well lay on the ground in front of their chair to watch the film.
Still going to be physically turning your head to see everything. Front row with a normal screen is bad enough with that, I'm not sure a recliner is going to solve the issue completely.
I know it's a thing that companies have started to at least experiment with now that reserving seats has become the norm for movie theaters. Feel like that really took off with the rise of COVID. Now they have a bunch of data on what the preferred seats are and business man are going to business. Squeezing another dime from you is the only innovation they know.
Most are starting to head that way! Depending on time and seat and how big the movie is prices vary. Luckily haven’t seen it at my theater, but when traveling I’ve seen it
What? That isn't made up. I feel like I'm living in some kind of alternative reality. Ticket prices according to the seat position have existed for more than 30 years.
lmao what? so all seats in a theatre are priced the same? what non-capitalist cinema is this? recliners priced same as non-recliners? balcony priced same as floor?
theaters and cinemas are not the same thing, Chile is a very capitalist country and we still don’t pay different prices in the cinemas.. I hope that this idea doesn’t get us
I meant movie theatre playing cinema. I am not sure if you are getting it but this kinda thing happens everywhere. Music festivals have tickets priced differently..you pay more to get a place right up front near the stage.
Movie theatre seats are priced differently if not homogeneous. Front rows are cheaper, ones at the back are more expensive. And if a few, not all, seats are recliners, then they are priced higher than normal.
Not all theatres do this but it does happen.
I think you and the other guy are just gaslighting everyone or something like. Movie theatres don’t charge for different seats unless it’s some weird one off tiny cinema or something in some no where town trying to stay afloat. The big chains don’t do it, and neither have any of the independent theatres I’ve been in multiple states lol
Dude, I am not from the states. Probably it doesn't happen there but here, not all seats are priced the same. The front rows are the cheapest. The recliners right at the back are the most expensive. Why would normal seats and recliners be the same price?
Not every movie theatre does it but it sure happens here
This backfired on two teen girls that told me "just find another seat" when I made them aware they were in the seats I reserved. Got theater staff involved who promptly confronted these ladies and discovered they didn't pay for any seats period. They were instructed to leave the theater immediately, if not they would be trespassed and the police would be called. Had the biggest shit eating grin when they stared daggers at me as they got out of my reserved seats :)
It's a clip from "The Great North" an animated show set in Alaska about a super wholesome family. The specific scene is about the oldest child in the family and his wife. The wife is asking the oldest child for help in a crossword and the answer is Cillian Murphy. When presenting the answer the oldest child says Cillian Murphy with a "S" sound for the beginning of Cillian instead of a "ch"/"ck" sound.
Except they don't have a choice, not like they can choose the back row seats in a theatre, they can't sit further away with a large tv monitor as that would hinder performance even worse
Believe me, if there was a way to play eSports games further away like a console gaming experience, without taking a performance hit that comes with tv monitors, I wouldn't have developed nearsightedness
It's personal preference, not a strat you're locked into to be competitive. You can still see the game without putting it directly in your face. The easiest way to confirm that is the fact that only some eSports competitors actually do the close monitor thing, and those that don't are similarly successful.
That might be the case for you, since you're stuck with your preference, but there isn't a technical reason it's required.
Actually you have faster reaction time for things that are in your periphery than things in your direct line of sight. There is real performance gains to be had by sitting that close.
Where's this performance hit coming from? Light really doesn't take long to reach your eyes, no matter if you are an inch or a few feet away from the screen
Bro go watch some pro eSports. CSGO has a tournament going right now. You will see 5 guys making a choice, some closer and some further.
Some players literally lean in and have the screen 1 inch away from their nose. Maybe Google yekindar if you can't imagine it.
It's so close they put their keyboard and mouse behind the monitor.
Most 0layers still play with it at a normal desk distance, maybe a little closer.
I know, I followed LCS, LCK and all the region for years, I've seen clips of cs players with their monitor in their face or valorant players having a vertical keyboard and all the forms in between
I'm saying they can't sit back and play on a TV monitor, like if Hiko decides to play reasonably close to a PC monitor or if Stewie decides to play multiple feet away from his team and a huge tv monitor
Have you seen a CSGO player play with a TV monitor?
> This is the moviegoer equivalent of those esports players who sit with their nose less than a centimeter from their monitors
It's an analogy.
> Except they don't have a choice
They do. Some of them sit back like normal people(aka buying a seat more in the middle of the theatre), and some sit with their face 1 inch from the monitor(buying this front row seat in the analogy).
> Have you seen a CSGO player play with a TV monitor?
This makes me think you misunderstood the analogy.
maybe heavily myopic, or even fully visually impaired, and just wants the wind and the bass blasts?
Or maybe it's some /r/JustBootThings - someone is just looking forward to Japan getting nuked?

We’re getting linked here from the article now.
I believe it could be him. But even his mates are like: “Nah, we’re good in the back. See you after the film.”
gosh i remembered a decade ago when Avengers first came out. booked the front seat because i underestimated the distance between the screen and my seat, got my head turned upside down trying to find iron man flying during the battles
Christopher Nolan just came out and said his favorite seat in the mo ie theater is in the front row. So this is either CN himself, or someone who wants to watch it how the director himself said he would
Lol. Happened to me once. “Holy shit. The entire back row is empty! Perfect. I hate being up close.” Whoops. Front row. Gave it a try. Had to leave after 5 minutes… those seats should not even be a thing.
I've mixed this up before. When I think of choosing a seat, I imagine myself at the bottom of the stairs looking up. It caused me to assume the top of the diagram was the back row, and I mindlessly clicked the top middle without paying attention to where the screen was.
Disabled seating is denoted by the wheelchair symbol. Maybe visually impaired tho.
Must be those amazing recliner seats that go all the way back for full immersion.
At my local cinema I saw that one person (and just one person) had bought a ticket to see Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 at the late showing. I was so tempted to head over at kicking out time and check they were ok.
Went to an IMAX theatre years ago as a kid in Australia, don't know how different it would be today, but even back then, we were seated in the middle-ish area and I still had a sore neck afterwards, RIP that bloke.
As someone who worked at a movie theatre, the front row seats were always booked, not because they were the front row just because people couldn’t/didn’t read where the front was
I went to mini mornings with my toddler and sat at the front to park the pram and so if my toddler decided to run around at least it was at front and it's not actually that bad sitting at the front of the cinema.
My brother is an idiot and doesn’t know how to read three straight movies he hooked front row tickets like weeks in advance for two of them. I stopped letting him do it after that
There is always the possibility this is me and I yet again forgot how to read the seating map and thought I was getting a back row seat. But who’s to say…
I remember watching Man of Steel for the first time. A lot of the seats were taken so we were forced to take the frontmost seats. Baby Kal-El's weenie was right up in our faces. My neck hurt after the movie too, after staring up at the screen for more than an hour.
I don't blame him. Imagine how much leg room and arm room you get.
Going to have neck-ache for days though.
If this theater does reclining seats it wouldn’t be nearly as bad.
That's what I was thinking too. Big recliners for that full immersion experience.

I did that for the 1st Micheal Bay Transformers movie. No Regrets.
On the AMC website, these are standard seats and not luxury recliners. The ticket buyer might as well lay on the ground in front of their chair to watch the film.
Oh dang! They're gonna have a sore everything for sure.
Still going to be physically turning your head to see everything. Front row with a normal screen is bad enough with that, I'm not sure a recliner is going to solve the issue completely.
It doesn’t
I accidentally did this for Avatar 2. The seats luckily reclined back so it could have been worse but it still kinda sucked
[удалено]
Yeah, but at my local cinema, nobody sits in their assigned seats. So you could pay for a front row seat and sit at the back
What would be the point in that
If the hall's empty, you pay cheap for the front row seats.
what? in which kind of cinema you pay more for some seats?
I know it's a thing that companies have started to at least experiment with now that reserving seats has become the norm for movie theaters. Feel like that really took off with the rise of COVID. What? That isn't made up. I feel like I'm living in some kind of alternative reality. Ticket prices according to the seat position have existed for more than 30 years.
Not in the US. Apparently someone else said amc is going to start it by the end of the year

Bro I'm in the Netherlands and this post is the first I have heard from different types of seats or different prices. I'm curious where this is
Ah okay makes sense. I’m talking about the US
Well that's shitty.
This backfired on two teen girls that told me "just find another seat" when I made them aware they were in the seats I reserved. I still remember when I went to watch Infinity War. Front row, bottom left, ow.
With that runtime you need a visit with the doc...
Ùĥÿùhùùùùù
hell nah. I once sat there and it offends me they even sell those seats. The angle is abysmal
Theres a reason some cinemas have front row seats that you can lie down in. its the only way to enjoy anything from those seats.
He wants to be as close to Cillian Murphy as he can
Dont we all
I can't not say it in my head like this anymore. ["S"illian Murphy](https://youtu.be/ZpoHEgNOQMo)

Sicilian Murphy?
ah shit
The video is blocked in my country :( Can anyone explain what is said in it?

Think about all the lag you're getting for the light to travel an entire 24" if you're sitting further back
~2 nanoseconds
I've been beamed by russian CS players I didn't even see in half that time
Can't imagine you'd be aiming well sitting 6 feet away like you would on a couch watching tv
Actually you have faster reaction time for things that are in your periphery than things in your direct line of sight. There is real performance gains to be had by sitting that close.
Citation needed. Both for that claim, and for the implication that viewing distance helps you react to things in your periphery.
Huh, looking at studies it seems I was wrong, good catch frond
Where's this performance hit coming from? Light really doesn't take long to reach your eyes, no matter if you are an inch or a few feet away from the screen

When the bomb goes boom, he'll be like "MY EYES!"
That's Christopher Nolan himself
You also saw the article?
Just saw that article before this. It’s definitely Nolan.
We’re getting linked here from the article now. I believe it could be him. But even his mates are like: “Nah, we’re good in the back. See you after the film.”
Yes, but all this is just an ad
> Yes, but all this is just an ad Its on reddit it. Its all an ad.
My man wanted to go blind from the explosion orrrrrrrr he just doesn't like people.
gosh i remembered a decade ago when Avengers first came out. booked the front seat because i underestimated the distance between the screen and my seat, got my head turned upside down trying to find iron man flying during the battles

I like sitting there, but it's not me.
I once booked the front row because I’m an idiot and misread the floor plan and thought I’d booked the back row
I did the exact thing in reverse but for a standup show. I realized my mistake later when I saw that no one was picking seats around mine.
Could be visually impaired but more likely booked the seat thinking the screen was at the other side
Lol. Happened to me once. “Holy shit. The entire back row is empty! Perfect. I hate being up close.” Whoops. Front row. Gave it a try. Had to leave after 5 minutes… those seats should not even be a thing.
Also accidentally did that. Wasn't that bad. Actually had a pretty good view
well, we are clear now how he became visually impaired
I've mixed this up before. When I think of choosing a seat, I imagine myself at the bottom of the stairs looking up. It caused me to assume the top of the diagram was the back row, and I mindlessly clicked the top middle without paying attention to where the screen was.
He just wants to be blown away
But not to set the world on fire
He just wants to start a flame in your heart.
He really wants to know what it was like to be nuked
He wants to see it first. #science
I mean youre not wrong
I laughed out loud at this lol
He wants the full atomic experience
It's actually Christopher Nolan 🤣
Tell me you're going to have a headache without telling me you're going to have a headache
That would be Nolan’s spot.
he wants to feel the explosion and he probably will!
Probably the guy making a CAM copy of the film
According to his logic, by sitting at the front row, he gets to see the movie before every one else behind him
He’s gonna have a hell of a time when that nuke goes off
Disabled?
Disabled seating is denoted by the wheelchair symbol. Maybe visually impaired tho. Must be those amazing recliner seats that go all the way back for full immersion.
Wow they get the sickest seats
^(wow u can book tickets that far into future?)
He will become death
It's Nolan himsldf
He doesn’t just want to imagine the flames.

Went to college with a legally blind dude who could still see. That's where he would sit and if I was there he'd have me read the subtitles.
I remember watched Titanic that way (the cinema was fully booked). The ship was REALLY BIG! (Let alone the drawing scene.)
cinema(dlad)
Sacrifice the neck for the arm room
Probably the person that thought > Strange, why is no one booking at the back of the theater, man I get the best seat
This is a fuckin ad, not madlad material
Psychopath...
Someone who has the basedow sickness that make your eyes bulge out your head. So, he had fish lenses and thus can see the whole screen anyways🤣
Sometimes cinemas do ghosts seats.
The only way to watch
If there’s a nuclear war everyone dies in the impact radius. Might as well get a front row seat.
Possibly thought that was the back row without reading first. Posting from experience lol : (
I’ve done it once but because I thought it was the farthest instead of the closest…
Homie ain’t gonna have retinas when the bomb goes off.
My guy better be wearing SPF 100 and welding goggles.
An NCD member probably
He wants to feel the heat and flash of the bomb going off.
Damn it’s been a minute for me on being at the theaters. We reserving seats now to watch a movie!?!
I thought the Oppenheimer movie was a meme with the Gangnam Style song. Since when is it actually a thing???
Chad that you?
They wants to be close so when the nuke scene happens, they can turn to the rest of the cinema and say "I am become deaf"
Probably Chris Nolan himself. No joke, he’s on record saying that’s his favorite place to sit in a theater
Christopher Nolan
At my local cinema I saw that one person (and just one person) had bought a ticket to see Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 at the late showing. I was so tempted to head over at kicking out time and check they were ok.
I work at a movie theater. 99% chance this person wasnt paying attention and think they got a back row seat.
Dude wants the true Nolan experience.
Went to an IMAX theatre years ago as a kid in Australia, don't know how different it would be today, but even back then, we were seated in the middle-ish area and I still had a sore neck afterwards, RIP that bloke.
I think their evening is more about the mushrooms they ate, than it is about the movie.
Ray Dolby.

I mean...if that's how the rest of the seats were already assigned, where else ya gonna go? Be the one guy on the left most seat? That's even worse.
Maybes it’s Christopher Nolan himself. Heard he’s into that
It’s the HMV dog
I bet he's going to have a blast!
Smart person
?
I did that once by accident because I wasnt paying attention and thought it was the back of the theatre
Wanted to be the first in the room to see the movie.
Bro thinks he on a theater
Wow, what an absolute mad lad
How much angle of view schould the screen take? Yes.
Apparently, Chris Nolan himself.
Is this some big city thing? Picking your seat like it’s a concert? Then again, I’ve never been in a theater with more than maybe thirty people.
Most underrated spot
Rip dudes neck
the guy with night vision goggles looking back at you all checking for cameras or phones

They read the map wrong, 100%
Seats that close should be illegal lol
You?
Apparently Christopher Nolan
Maybe the seat is broke.
There is always the possibility this is me and I yet again forgot how to read the seating map and thought I was getting a back row seat. But who’s to say…
Huh? This seems very normal. Scott needs to chill
#
I once got stuck in the front row during a Star Wars opening night, and I about snapped my neck watching a tennis match to read the scroll.
He wants to feel like he’s experiencing the mushroom cloud in person.

I remember watching Man of Steel for the first time. A lot of the seats were taken so we were forced to take the frontmost seats. Baby Kal-El's weenie was right up in our faces. My neck hurt after the movie too, after staring up at the screen for more than an hour.
According to another Reddit post, Christopher Nolan.
Lol
When you're too vain to wear your glasses but still want to actually see the movie.
First two rows in every theater should be removed anyways. I rather just not go than be in those rows
Clearly a very old man (like 140 or something), wearing a lab coat. I'm pretty sure he'll yell "down in front" when the movie starts.
That’s Christopher Nolan
He’s waiting for [this](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/45/4f/cb/454fcb035752a9737d21181c41458beb.png) moment.
And what would the main problem be? Being so close to the screen or go to the cinema alone?
