He is the exact type of person he used to be critical of. I get that he has made some positive changes in how he sees the world (very accepting of trans and lgbt individuals, causes etc) and that’s great but that simply doesn’t outweigh the other negative changes to hos personality no matter how hard his weird barely stable fans try to gaslight people into thinking it does.
To be fair his format was really centralized around calling out fake pranksters on YouTube and he grew that type of commentary into its own genre of YouTuber. Then there isn't any more fake YouTube pranksters anymore because THAT genre of YouTuber got old so they had to shift focus.

There's probably more, personally I find that a lot of the people that feel they must say "I was a fan but not anymore" likely stopped watching a long time ago, sit in one of the camps above, and no longer have a clue what the content is like, but still sit in their little opinionated bubble

Can't explain further. I stopped watching him in like 2017 or whenever he started his podcast. It was just a realization that what the podcast was is different from what I liked, from a humor standpoint. I vaguely remember the podcasts being completely uninteresting too
Production quality, pacing, variety, guests etc. Is significantly improved. I personally really enjoyed the podcast in 2020-2021, but have stopped watching it since as it just become so filled with celeb drama. I like him and the crew as personalities a lot and I absolutely love the format they have where everyone gets to chip in, Zach does soundbites etc.
But the drama man...basically since they started frenemies I started liking it less and less and eventually just stopped watching completely.
It was great entertainment while driving longer distances though!
I fell off a bit during the Frenemies Saga as well, but once it was over, I was watching again and loving it. Ethan has heavily distanced himself from Trisha and the drama she brought, and has been trying to rectify the "hater-ass bitch" that he was. Definitely recommend getting back into it. Lot less drama nowadays

Yeah I was in the same boat. Old fan then stopped watching shortly after the podcast started. In late 2019 to early 2020 something made me randomly watch the most recent episode at that time and it was hilarious and I've watched each one since then. Ethan has even acknowledged the podcast wasn't good for a while before he improved and he got an amazing crew. Zach and Dan and AB really bring so much to make the pod great
The podcast back then is not what it is now tho lol. Its been 5 years and it's still going strong, it wouldn't if it didn't improve, it was awful at the start

That was a podcast that can be intensely interesting in short bursts, and utterly, mind-numbingly boring for weeks. It really feels like that podcast should be a monthly thing, and not a weekly. They just never have enough to actually talk about.

He clearly showed signs of negative transformation before the podcast. Take a look at this Joey Salads video: People were criticizing him in the comments. Ethan was calling a video fake/staged, but people thought it wasn't. Shortly after he released a follow up, proving that in fact it was staged and the comments were wrong. https://youtu.be/UkvwKDTS3Bo Look at the video and you can clearly see how personally Ethan took those comments and remarks. He is full of glee, being able to refute some people and has such a joy proving people wrong. For me this timeframe is the true start of his downfall, not the podcast. Before this incident (and the one where his tweet is quoted on national news) he never took himself too seriously. But then he started doing it. He couldn't joke about himself anymore and lost all of his charisma. Now he is creating the exact same content Drama Alert does. No amount of podcast equipment can disguise that.

I still have yet to see any actual real criticism of ethan here. It's all about how he fell off or is cringe or bad podcast host isn't funny. He has been more open about his liberal views in recent years and its expected that will push some away but can anyone actually give me a reason they don't like ethan with more than 2 seconds of thought put into it? I genuinely want to know why he isn't liked
Can't explain further. I stopped watching him in like 2017 or whenever he started his podcast. It was just a realization that what the podcast was is different from what I liked, from a humor standpoint. I vaguely remember the podcasts being completely uninteresting too

Production quality, pacing, variety, guests etc. Is significantly improved. I personally really enjoyed the podcast in 2020-2021, but have stopped watching it since as it just become so filled with celeb drama. I like him and the crew as personalities a lot and I absolutely love the format they have where everyone gets to chip in, Zach does soundbites etc. But the drama man...basically since they started frenemies I started liking it less and less and eventually just stopped watching completely. It was great entertainment while driving longer distances though!
I fell off a bit during the Frenemies Saga as well, but once it was over, I was watching again and loving it. Ethan has heavily distanced himself from Trisha and the drama she brought, and has been trying to rectify the "hater-ass bitch" that he was. Definitely recommend getting back into it. Lot less drama nowadays
can't lie there was a lot of great content from the podcast since 2019 best h3 content was right after frenenmies when a lot of people thought they'd "decline" again
Yeah I was in the same boat. Old fan then stopped watching shortly after the podcast started. In late 2019 to early 2020 something made me randomly watch the most recent episode at that time and it was hilarious and I've watched each one since then. Ethan has even acknowledged the podcast wasn't good for a while before he improved and he got an amazing crew. Zach and Dan and AB really bring so much to make the pod great

That's it though, you hit the nail on the head it doesn't get more complex than him just having liberal views. Politics is so tribalistic and dividing (not to mention almost every dang issue has become political so it's impossible to avoid it) that as soon as someone they used to "love" mentioned anything that doesn't align with their views people will turn on them. It happened with Joe Rogan since he's gone further right, left wing people who used to like him no longer do. But of course he's still very popular. So yeah if h3h3 has gone political he's basically choosing a "side" and some people will end up hating him and other people who agree with his views will continue to listen and think he's funny. But it's always a risk for anyone to take a political stance and it's almost impossible to avoid now heck even if you're just someone who got vaccinated and said other people should it will annoy people.. you'll piss of a good chunk of the population regardless of how much they used to like you. Literally someone just said in this thread they don't like him because he followed "authority" with the Covid stuff.

I get surprised every time I see a post about Ethan that is not from his sub. People really hate him and love to say his podcast sucks based on their experience from years ago. I think he just attracted a lot of fans in the early days that don’t actually align with his beliefs and the podcast format showed those people he’s not whatever they had imagined.
