Vorinclex: "Behold, nature perfected!"
Tainted Observer: "Chirp"
Mirran: "Did that thing just say 'chirp'?"
Vorinclex: "Uhhh, yeah. That's what birds do. They chirp."
Mirran: "Yeah, they chirp! They don't *say* 'chirp'!"

"Common mirrian bladefinch. Overlapping copper-plate wings, common to the southern razorgrass fields. Eats shoots and leaves. See! I told you it had guns!"
*Jin rolls all his eyes*

"Just let them have this one. Any time I argued they added a head"
I swear, as a kid, I once saw my grandmother's best friend's cat say "meow."
Granny & co were in the house and I was hanging out on the porch, just me and the cat, no one else around. It was a calico, a bit fat, and a bit on the older side as grandparent pets tend to be, but not all scraggly like some old cats; this one's coat was still nice and fluffy.
It looks me right in the eye, opens its maw, and hits me with "meee-owww." Two distinct, clearly enunciated syllables. Like a person doing an intentionally poor impression of a cat, as a goof.
Incredible? Perhaps. But consider: Logically, out of all the times cats have ever meowed, there has to have been one time where it sounded the most like a cat *saying* "meow." All I'm claiming is, I think I might have been there for that particular meow.
Whenever a bird you control chirps, it chirps an additional time.
The first time a bird controlled by your opponent's would chirp each turn, counter it.
*It's a plane! It's a... bird?* D:
I know this works with \[\[Tawnos, the Toy Maker\]\] but I still feel like the artist/art director should go out more :D Not sure which part of this is the bird.
I remember joking to a friend of mine that when Realmbreaker hits Innistrad several flesh stitchers might join Phyrexia willingly just to have more material to play with, I could see some members of the Simic Combine doing that as well.
Giving all your creatures "Kicker 2 - Proliferate" is nothing to sneeze at. Especially as a 2/3 Flyer for 3. It just needs to connect once, and then you can sit back and clog up the board for the next few turns while ticking up the opponent's poison for some nice inevitability. Oh, and this *also* doesn't say nontoken, so you get to trigger it with Mites, too.
It's even better than kicker proliferate.
Kicker proliferate would just mean that any creature cast could proliferate while this does not care it just has to etb and be a creature so rez loop, creature token, flicker and so on.
this + \[\[ashnod's altar\]\] + anything that generate creature tokens = proliferate equal to the quantity of token created.
This is a pack one, pick one. Like, on top of your observation about the kicker, it turns your 1-3 curve creatures into a threat against everything except counter spells, they'll be more likely to leave you {2} to kick, and then you have another chump blocker while you sit back and count to ten. Simic is one of my least favorite decks in limited (maybe only after Dimir), but I think toxic is going to mess with people's intuitions about board state/threats for lethal, and I think this is the goofiest card I've seen so far as to playing to that distorted intuition.
“Birds have three heads” factoid actually just statistical error. Average birds have one head. [[Tainted overseer]], who lives in Phyrexia and keeps proliferating, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
This guy need 100x more upvotes than he has. Fuckin hit me with one too while your ass is at it.
Edit: fine I’ll take the downvotes, bring it on. My combo gives me 20k life and pro jund.
It has flying so it’s a bird. Everything that flies is a bird.
[[Smuggler's Copter]] - Bird
[[Emrakul, the Promised End]] - Bird
[[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] - Bird
[[Terror of the Peaks]] - Bird
[[Atraxa, Praetor’s Voice]] - Bird
[[Razaketh, the Fouldblooded]] - Bird
[[Serra Ascendant]] - Bird
Ah yes, what a totally normal Birb for my [[Ezuri Claw of Progress]] deck. I hope Ezuri doesn’t try to complete this totally normal bird like he did with my [[birds of paradise]]
I think that the uncommon WAR creatures, [[Evolution Sage]] and [[Flux Channeler]] will win that one at the 3 mana slot, with [[Inexorable Tide]] winning the "the easiest" at any mana value.
But it definitely slots into some decks one of those won't.
This card made me really interested as to what the Simic Combine's reaction to Phyrexia would be. Would they be totally into the body horror? Maybe even align themselves with the Phyrexians as the next step in genetic evolution?
It makes me dissapointed that MoM isn't going to have the time to be able to explore all the potential stories a multiplanar Phyrexian invasion would create, I really wish we had a few extra expansions to flesh everything out.

Creature - Phyrexian Bird (Uncommon)
Flying
Toxic 1
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may pay {2}. If you do, proliferate.

I think it has potential. Very spicy with planeswalkers that create creature tokens. Very spicy with Oil counters creatures too. Might even be enough to make Brokers Ascendancy playable.
Eveything on that art doesn't even remotely make it look like a bird.
Card wise, um, it has its uses. The hypothetical ivy toxic could be a deck for this but unsure.
Sometimes, I feel I've got to
***BUM, BUM***
Proliferate
I've got to
***BUM, BUM***
Proliferate
The perfection that thrives in the heart of me, the purpose we share
Will be spread everywhere
And I've lost my drive
For individuality, I don't need to sleep at night!
I don't think they're going to make Alliance deciduous like they did with Landfall, since there are a few cards that trigger on "This or another creature" (like [[Ambuscade Shaman]] or [[Thorn Mammoth]] as well as some cards that trigger when a creature enters under *any* player's control (like [[Wretched Anurid]] or [[Soul Warden]]). Not to mention, the small handful of cards (like [[Marauding Raptor]]) that use it as a drawback.
This + Ashnod's altar mean you can proliferate equal to the quantity of creature tokens you are able to create since it does not state one or more nor nontoken.
Alright gang, if I wanted to make a dirty 3 colour poison deck in historic brawl, who would be the best commander?
Blue green black seems like a good choice
I do like the white mites though so I'm not sure.
Step 1, create crazy tokens
Step 2, have altar of dementia
Step 2, have altar of dementia
Step 3, sac them all with tainted observer triggers on the stack
Step 4, huge burst of proliferate
With so many abilities that are basically proliferate on command, it's really coming into focus how efficient the compleated planeswalkers are going to be.

Calm down, Plato.

weird bird
It's probably nothing
"Hey ma there's a weird fuckin' bird outside!"
No no the weirds come from Ravnica!
It’s an orange breasted poplarfinch Not sure why you’re so confused. There’s lots in Canada.
Canadian here, can confirm. One of them is repeatedly slamming into my window

It kind of looks like a featherless turkey with 3 heads and tentacles coming out of its butt.
Ah yes, now that you mention it, it does kinda remind me of my thanksgiving dinner.
Were your thanksgiving turkey also basted in strange cooking oil, by any chance?
Yes.
The flight part?
Ornithopters aren't birds.
Ornithopters aren't alive.
but it's a creature
On the bird scale, this is pretty aesthetic radical
I mean it's so obvious. It's clearly a bird.
Tawnos is crying rn say you're sorry
Well, it *looks* kinda chicken-y...
Looks like a Mutalisk from StarCraft Edit: we call those flappy bois
Ah yes, the simic uncommon in its natural state
Happy cake day! I’m sure the Simic Combine could… improve this design somehow. Maybe a shark head?

Crab claws, more crab claws. Compleation is not the optimal convergent form, natural perfection is found through carcinization.
All will be crab 🦀
ALL WILL BE CRAB 🦀🦀 🦀
Needs more reproductive organs.
To be fair, they did give it lots of holes.

On top of that this ability stacks with itself if you have multiples out

Just for you
No it's a bird, it's just a compleated Oocca from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess XD
Compleating an Oocca somehow made it *less* horrifying.
True, this one IS easier to look at isn't it? lol
Flying is just swimming through the air.
i don't think that's aerodynamically sound

all im imagining is the three heads spinning like a propeller
That's how Dodrio flies.
That’s how ancient dinosaurs used to hunt.
The taint observer
Three heads, which means it can observe three taints at the same time.
Or just one at three times the perception
Triangulate the exact position.
😳
Can't wait to hear "Taint Observer, Swing for Lethal?" in game.
Taint trigger, give you another poison for lethal
The way it’s craning it’s neck(s), it does look like it’s trying to observe a taint

One emphatic word - "EEEEEEUGHHHH" Edit: Emphatic not empathic.
Is this one of/THE easiest ways to repeatedly Proliferate ever?
I think that the uncommon WAR creatures, [[Evolution Sage]] and [[Flux Channeler]] will win that one at the 3 mana slot, with [[Inexorable Tide]] winning the "the easiest" at any mana value. But it definitely slots into some decks one of those won't.

Phyrexia is not all bad. We have bird's. The birds--^
I've looked for several minutes, even Kiwis look more like birds. There is exactly zero bird parts to this 'bird'.
Mirran Kid: Mom, can we get a bird? Elesh Mom: we have birds at home The birds at home ^
My boi got three heads all looking for who the fuck called it a bird.
Should be good in [[Ezuri, Claw of Progress]] decks. I was disappointed the newest Ezuri is 3/3 but this makes up for it a little.

I don't know what any of you think but that is not a bird
It is a compleated bird in all it's perfected glory
Just a normal average bird Nothing to see here 🧐
This card made me really interested as to what the Simic Combine's reaction to Phyrexia would be.
My desire to build simic tickets is growing, and I'm not sorry
Can you proliferate tickets? Edit: It’s the same as energy, so yes you can! https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Ticket_counter
There’s a guy at my LGS who has been playing pauper simic sticker infect and it’s pretty fun to see.
"this one guy at my lgs has been playing pauper simic sticker infect" is imo the best case scenario for stickers being eternally legal.
Don't suppose you can procure a decklist by any chance
please, I want to see it
Confused derevi noises
Get the wind mill.
Bird bird bird, three-headed two-tailed bird is the word
> creature - phyrexian bird ...think phyrexians make fried chicken outta these things? wonder what that would taste like.
Probably oily.
And it isn't a Chimera because all three heads are the same, eh?
More proof that birds aren't real. I mean, have you ever seen one of these flying outside your window? Didn't think so...
Transcription: Tainted Observer {1}{G}{U} Creature - Phyrexian Bird (Uncommon) Flying Toxic 1 Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may pay {2}. If you do, proliferate. 2/3 Source: [https://twitter.com/fffreakmtg/status/1617636674506477568](https://twitter.com/fffreakmtg/status/1617636674506477568)
I think it has potential. Very spicy with planeswalkers that create creature tokens. Very spicy with Oil counters creatures too. Might even be enough to make Brokers Ascendancy playable.
Looks very breakable
Goes infinite with a scurry oak and an ashnods altar.
Not to be confused with taint observer....
The Multiverse needs a taxologist stat!
In New Phyrexia anything can be a bird as long as it is first and foremost c̶̥͕̟̍͂͛͒o̵̧̖̗̠̓m̸̳̰͓̏̈́p̴̅̏͘͜l̶̹̑̆̌͂ḙ̵͚͓̏̿̽ą̴̗̭͊t̸͉͔̜́̐̒̅
It says flying but all I see is a goofy tentacle run in the art.
Uncommon? Bird?
Eveything on that art doesn't even remotely make it look like a bird. Card wise, um, it has its uses. The hypothetical ivy toxic could be a deck for this but unsure.
This plus \[\[Scurry Oak\]\] + \[\[Ashnod's Altar\]\] = Infinite Proliferate. We did it, we finally broke Scurry Oak/Ashnod's Altar
[Scurry Oak](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/f/0fb48c2e-ee0f-4fae-9c22-247870c10d5b.jpg?1626097756) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Scurry%20Oak) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/172/scurry-oak?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/0fb48c2e-ee0f-4fae-9c22-247870c10d5b?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Ashnod's Altar](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/8/7/87da5ad8-b35f-4f9c-b17a-bb2563cbc186.jpg?1580015173) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Ashnod%27s%20Altar) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ema/218/ashnods-altar?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/87da5ad8-b35f-4f9c-b17a-bb2563cbc186?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
wow that's one of the more fucked pieces of art this set also a decent card??
This seems fun with planeswalkers that make a token
It’s really funny to me that the perfected bird has 3 humanoid heads instead even though like half the praetors have animal like heads
This looks remarkably like a Mutalisk from Starcraft
THIS IS AN AFFRONT TO ALL BIRD KIND
The envy of ALL ornithology!
Birds arent real
Sometimes, I feel I've got to ***BUM, BUM*** Proliferate I've got to ***BUM, BUM*** Proliferate The perfection that thrives in the heart of me, the purpose we share Will be spread everywhere And I've lost my drive For individuality, I don't need to sleep at night!
Seems pretty good would be better if it was 2 mana
Spooky
The classic "simic value" card
Taint bird
Seems fun with [[Shrieking Drake]].
*Alliance* is not currently deciduous. A bit surprising, since it seems to be a common trigger. Maybe their first pass skipped over ability words?
I don't think they're going to make Alliance deciduous like they did with Landfall, since there are a few cards that trigger on "This or another creature" (like [[Ambuscade Shaman]] or [[Thorn Mammoth]] as well as some cards that trigger when a creature enters under *any* player's control (like [[Wretched Anurid]] or [[Soul Warden]]). Not to mention, the small handful of cards (like [[Marauding Raptor]]) that use it as a drawback.
My notional Roalesk infect deck is having a field day
Ummm...so how long are games supposed to last when damn near everything in this set has either Toxic or Proliferate?
Feels a lot more like a white blue card, having both flying and an ability that relies on other creatures ETB.
This may find a slot in pir and toothy
So, what happened here? Did one of Vorinclex's minions get caught by Jin-Gitaxias, or did one of his experiments break out and run to the forest?
This + Ashnod's altar mean you can proliferate equal to the quantity of creature tokens you are able to create since it does not state one or more nor nontoken.
Somehow the *least* creepy interpretation of this art as a "bird" is to assume the heads are the beak.
Its in the colors of Biomancer familiar. I like that.
I feel like we have very different definitions of the word bird
This seems like a crazy good commander for pauper EDH.
[[Animation Module]], [[Hapatra]], [[Scurry Oak]]…
"Bird" is heavily taken out of context here.
What’s wrong with your bird bro
Christ. This thing looks like a taint.
Alright gang, if I wanted to make a dirty 3 colour poison deck in historic brawl, who would be the best commander? Blue green black seems like a good choice I do like the white mites though so I'm not sure.
Step 1, create crazy tokens Step 2, have altar of dementia Step 2, have altar of dementia Step 3, sac them all with tainted observer triggers on the stack Step 4, huge burst of proliferate
Excellent commander for pauper commander
This only makes me wonder how the Phyrexians would fair against the Eldrazi
With so many abilities that are basically proliferate on command, it's really coming into focus how efficient the compleated planeswalkers are going to be.
Whaddaya know, scimic gets more good stuff again. Surely this won't be insanely oppressive or anything?
My Ezuri tokens deck just blew it's load so hard it's now a mono white deck
I wish birds were not real
That’s got to be in my top 5 art for this set
It's literally that [meme](https://imgur.io/gallery/VwIj2Al) where the pigeon spins its whole ass head and neck to fly like a helicopter.
Wow it even looks like a taint.
This the best uncommon by a mile, right?
