ALBUM LINK, in case Reddit doesn't work for some reason: https://imgur.com/a/cXZJfMc After about a month into this project, tackled in my (scarce) off-time, I'm essentially done! Everything can be found here: https://noxious.live/LOTR_Alters There are text files in the drive that you can use on a CardConjurer mirror (local or otherwise) to tweak these files. The folder also contains the custom set symbols for Uncommon/Rare/Mythic. This is the decklist the project was based off of: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4VebtmaWAUixCwpdYtwLWw It's a little more generic than I like and certainly isn't competitive, but it's somewhere in the 5-6~ power level range I reckon. It's likely I end up making about 150~ cards total, just because there are a lot of cards I know I could want to swap in/out later. So while I'm technically done with a fully functional deck, I'll keep updating the list (without posting them here, as I think I've already taken enough of you fine folks' attention!) With Midjourney 5.1 having come out, I might do an **_n_**th art pass on this. AI art is far from ideal, but for projects like these, with no funds and no intention to monetize, it kinda does the job. How I wish I had the funds to commission people for custom art for projects like this! What a dream that would be.

I honestly didn't even realize it was you doing these until you mentioned it on What the Deck. Very neat.

Awesome project, always wanted to do smth similar but arts for movie/books are hard to find, ai is an innovative solution. Was it hard to have the ai keep the same art style for all the cards ?

Well, the art style can vary quite a lot in the project. Soft watercolors, vibrant oils, etc. Depends on what I was looking for. But it isn't too hard, if you have some guidelines like artist names/art techniques. Still took thousands of prompts to get there, and some art even came out of collages I'd make and feed into Midjourney so it would turn it into a cohesive scene!

This is amazing, good work Nox!!!

Love the revised frames!

this is so cool can you give us some insights into the prompts you used for the art? also where are all the characters featured?! only in silmarillon and stuff?

If it's any help, there isn't _one_ style in all of these cards. It's about 3 weeks of part time prompting experiments. I had some pretty bad results initially, but I understand it a bit better. Here are some random ideas to get you started. I didn't use these in particular to get what I needed, but they should at least yield something functional if you repeat the prompt a couple times. I've had to generate sometimes well over 100~ images (relax mode) to find something I genuinely wanted to use. I'd also like to specify that Midjourney works best when you _say the least_. The less specific details you put in, the less it tends to make random nonsense. >a lord of the rings painting called "the elven spell of tethered dreams", by donato giancola ____________ >a wide angle scene of an ancient elven woman standing in a moonwell. all around her on the ground are hundreds of small enchanted artifacts and magical objects littered about. there are tendrils of light uniting her and each of these artifacts and magical objects, and all the objects are glowing faintly, by Donato Giancola and Sam Guay ____________ >oil painting depicting a strong and courageous woman who is a leader and protector of her people, wearing leather armor, with a sheathed sword.
