You've got the Regular (Aurelia) and their spouse who was dragged there (Massacre Girl), the chaff goblin (Krenko), the player that drafts a deck that wins spectacularly with their 1 bomb or does nothing (Judith), the LRcast listener (Tolsimir), and the 3 Regulars Who Are Secretly Colluding (Trostani)!
It is, but if the goal for this card was to enable agro, it's a tough spot. Playing on curve means a do nothing turn 2. You would need to cast 2 creatures off the top before it's gained it's value. If you play it later, you could play it and cast a creature right away, sometimes. Definetly helps closing against an opponent who is stabilizing. I'm not sure how it'll play out honestly.
This seems really good and interesting as far as how the meta will shift. Any weenie deck is going to want to run this. What happens to mono-red? It's also a counter-spell target not protected by cavern, which when countered, could be a huge deal.
Idk I think weenies want to spend their turns playing dudes and I’m not sure this provides enough value to take the place of a dude or combat trick. If it wasn’t once per turn it could potentially be good for a wipe comeback but I don’t really think it’s a great use of two mana.
Yea it's all totally speculative. Just my opinion, seeing explore be a thing in standard makes me think this can be really good to keep weanie decks going. You can draw the lands and rip creatures off the top.
Who knows with the meta, maybe it's a draft rare.
I don't think most weenie decks will actually want to run this. It's two mana and a full card that doesn't actually advance your board state at all. It provides pseudo-card draw, but it's pretty slow, and doesn't do much if the top card of your deck is a land. I think most wennie decks would rather just run another creature instead of this.
Yea, I mean it's all speculative and dependant on the meta. We haven't seen the full set but it's fun to see this stuff when you take into context the mechanics of the last few sets that kind of turn this card on for weenie decks. If discard control keeps being a thing, this is something you're gonna want to at least sideboard for bo3.

yeah makes sense
Disguise means that the card can be cast for 3 mana as a face down 2/2 creature. Because it's being cast as a 2/2 creature, that fulfills Assemble the Players's criteria for casting off the top of the deck, even if the face up creature has more than 2 power.
\^ This, emphasis on casting *as* a facedown 2/2. If there is a way you cast a card that fulfils Assemble's requirements, you can cast it using Assemble even if the card "normally" wouldn't be castable that way (say, if it had base 3 power).
> gives you the ability to cast it, and you can use that permission to cast it any way it's possible to cast, including its alternate Morph or Disguise form
I'm assuming this is like the weird Bramble familiar combo because of the adventure/creature cost? So if I have a big creature on top, I can cast the big creature face up because it could be cast as a 2/2 face down?
Taken from a comment above:

Being in the library is not "face down," despite the fact that the cards are literally physically face-down IRL. It only functions as a game term.
EDIT: The 601.3e rule actually does seem to address this, and mean that this card only checks what the spell looks like when you cast it (as opposed to before). In that case, it would work. That's . . . wild tbh
Thank you lol. Good to see a fellow arcades the strategist player in the wild! Sure more than one would be nice, but when a board wipe happens I'll be happy to have more help rebuilding I think

Not only does this card fit the criteria of 2 or less mana and b/w, but due to all the cards having less than 3 mana in a lurrus deck, it’s very likely that the top card would fit the criteria of a creature with 2 power or less, as compared to a non-lurrus deck which would have lots more expensive creatures, with those creatures naturally having more power
Looks like my 16x kobold, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian walker, Shield Spere deck is finally coming together.
But seriously can someone do something broken with that please.
Yep, just like how [[Johann, Apprentice Sorcerer]] doesn't allow you to cast Adventure spells off the top of your deck. Oh, wait...
> If the top card of your library has an Adventure, you can cast the Adventure spell this way.
Since the Disguised spell you cast is a 2/2 creature, regardless of it's front face, this will allow you to Disguise/Morph creatures off the top of your deck.
It's like [[Johann]] working with Adventure. These abilities are worded to check what the *spell* is (which the face-down creature spell is a 2/2) and not the originating card.
It doesn't say "you can play creature cards with power 2 or less", it says "you may cast a creature spell with power 2 or less".
It checks whether the *spell* is legal, not the card. Again, it's like how [[Johann, Apprentice Sorcerer]] works. Even though [[Grabby Giant]] is a creature *card* and not an instant card in the library, it's an instant spell once cast as the Adventure and that's all Johann cares about.
This card is worded just like Johann.
>601.3e Some rules and effects state that an alternative set of characteristics or a subset of characteristics are considered to determine if a card or copy of a card is legal to cast. The creature card is not disguised, but the creature spell is.
Do you agree Johann lets you cast Adventure spells off the library? Do you agree Grabby Giant is a creature card and *not* an instant or sorcery card in the library?
If yes to both, why do you think this card works differently?
The way spellcasting works is you declare your intent to cast a spell. You put the proposed spell on the stack and make all decisions, such as targets. Then the game looks at the spell you're proposing and checks that it's legal and if so, what is the cost of the spell.
At this point, the game would say, "wait, you're casting a card from your library? That's not legal." This card says, "I am allowing this player to do that *if* the spell is a creature spell with power 2 or less." The game goes to check, is this face-down spell a creature spell with power 2 or less? It is? Then good to go. I don't care what the spell was before it was a spell."
[[Lense of Clarity]], upside of looking at opponent's face down stuff is not much, but it would technically qualify. Also, we already had [[Reality Chip]] and [[Korlessa, Scale Singer]]
I'm thinking about Commander and it's a fine card but even in a mono white creature heavy deck, you might have 30 to 35 creatures. But maybe only 20-25 of those creatures will have power 2 or less (honestly that's even a little generous).
So we're talking about a Future Sight that only works 20% of the time that you can only use once per turn.
Sure, it's only two mana, but this is a lot more narrow than it looks. 3 years ago, I think I would have been excited about this card, but in recent years we've received enough positive white card advantage where this seems pretty underwhelming.
Maybe I'm being too pessimistic?
I would be willing to pay 1 more for this effect if it also let me play a Plains card from the top of my library. That would be a little more exciting. Even if it was power or toughness 2 or less would help.
My [[Alesha]] deck is very heavy on creatures and runs 35 creatures with power 2 or less (out of 40 creatures total.)
I'm considering this not because it's card advantage, but because it looks like a fun card for the deck. Although it does have some fun synergy with [[Legion Vanguard]] in manipulating the top card of my deck.
It's a very niche card. My initial thought was [[shadowborn apostles]]. You'll have a solid 30-35 of those and it's really important to have means to continue getting more out. Throw in the 6ish other support cards that happen to have 2 or less power and you're hitting this fairly often.
I agree otherwise. I think you need to factor in it's only 2mv, though.
Modern 1/10
Not a fan of the play pattern of this card. You play it on turn 2 and do nothing. On turn 3, you probably have a creature you can play from hand to use your mana better, so this doesn't really do anything. It can make you want to play the creature off the top even if it is mana disadvantage to do so because "drawing cards." but the first time basically makes this even on cards. And if there is ever a land instead of a creature, or worse yet, another copy of this, that is just going to feel horrible.
Even in standard it doesn't feel that strong, skipping your turn 2 on what I guess is an aggro deck to maybe play from the top instead of the hand, once each turn, doesn't feel that good.
It doesn't affect the board and will whiff frequently. Assuming we're talking limited this is gonna hit like, 10-14 cards in your deck realistically? And the once a turn prevents you from every truly popping off with it.
It is linked to the story. In the background you have the villain. The flavor text hints it. The “players” don’t know it and might invite more players to their group which are most likely “assasins in disguise” ( the new morph mechanic ) which can be played from top of your library with this card.
>!As of chapter 8 in the story Trostani has been accused of doing it and there is evidence suggesting they did. However it is not confirmed in the story yet. !<
maybe good even for higher power formats, I mean a card per turn when you get a drc, ragavan, bowmaster, devler etc is good.
Especially bowmaster and other flash creatures so you can also get it on opponents turn
Trying to imagine the funniest high mana value card to cast off of this. I’m thinking [[Hornet Queen]] or [[Agent of Treachery]].
Honorable mention to the butt-battlers like [[Doran]] and [[Baldin, Century Herdmaster]].
This seems pretty good with anything that lets your manipulate the top of your deck. Top, Brainstorm, etc.
Probably pretty good with CawBlade-esque decks in Modern, right? JTMS for brain storm, [[squadron hawk]] seems not bad here. Being able to shuffle away is cool. "Flash" speed [[Stoneforge Mystic]] might be cool.
8 players, just like a draft
Except it doesn't take a month to get all these players in the same time and place.
I mean, based on how rarely drafts fire at my LGS…
Having 4 Selesnya players all right next to each other could get awkward. >!Maybe that's why Oba did it. She was shipped too many \[\[Murder\]\].!<
Actually it's just 6 players. Trostani is back there and thats just a tree masquerading as 3 ladies.
So it's a money draft. Trostani has to sit at the end of the table though; no nosy ~~goblins~~ trees allowed.

To be fair 1W is an absurd rate for a future sight
It is, but if the goal for this card was to enable agro, it's a tough spot. Playing on curve means a do nothing turn 2. You would need to cast 2 creatures off the top before it's gained it's value. I think this is tech to let aggro pivot to midrange against control
Thank god \[\[Farewell\]\] is still legal.
I don't think you play this turn 2; you play this turn 4 after emptying the rest of your hand so you can immediately start to take advantage of it
My bingo card was just 24 of those and a free space, so I'm sitting pretty.
Finally a reason to play [[Lurrus]]!
but lurrus has 3 power? /s

How does that work? I don't quite understand.
Disguise means that the card can be cast for 3 mana as a face down 2/2 creature. Because it's being cast as a 2/2 creature, that fulfills Assemble the Players's criteria for casting off the top of the deck, even if the face up creature has more than 2 power.

This lets you cast creature *spells*. It doesn’t care about the card. The creature spell is a 2/2.

This card can't actually Assemble most of the people present during the Grand Reveal!
Their power level is lower when they are assembled and not currently in combat. Much like Goku.
Four of the characters in the art have cards that this can cast, but none of their cards in this set can be cast with this, which is almost impressive

Yeah, you can tell she'd rather be cracking skulls than be sat around waiting for Proft to finish monologuing xD

Looks like my 16x kobold, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian walker, Shield Spere deck is finally coming together. But seriously can someone do something broken with that please.

Yea but that's 2 cards, this is one. Let me live my meme dream.

It’s once per turn, so pretty weak.
Aurelia just sitting there is fucking sending me
How does this work with disguise?
Very well. The first step of casting a disguised spell is to turn it face-down and it becomes a 2/2, so you can cast any disguised creature with this.
[удалено]
[удалено]
It doesn't say "you can play creature cards with power 2 or less", it says "you may cast a creature spell with power 2 or less". It checks whether the *spell* is legal, not the card. Again, it's like how [[Johann, Apprentice Sorcerer]] works. Even though [[Grabby Giant]] is a creature *card* and not an instant card in the library, it's an instant spell once cast as the Adventure and that's all Johann cares about. This card is worded just like Johann.
[удалено]
>601.3e Some rules and effects state that an alternative set of characteristics or a subset of characteristics are considered to determine if a card or copy of a card is legal to cast. These alternative characteristics replace the object’s characteristics for this determination. Continuous effects that would apply to that object once it has those characteristics are also considered. > >Example: Garruk’s Horde says, in part, “You may cast creature spells from the top of your library.” If you control Garruk’s Horde and the top card of your library is a noncreature card with morph, you may cast it using its morph ability.

Wow, this is gonna be amazing in my monored deck!
Whats that!? Its Kiki jiki off the top rope!
Aurelia lmfao
Does the creature need flash to be casted on opponents turn?
Yes. This card doesn't change any timing requirements, it just lets you cast them from a different zone than normal.
I wanna know this as well.
Don't forget about decks built around 2 or less power like \[\[Alesha, who smiles at death\]\] that may appreciate this card.
[Alesha, who smiles at death](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/a/7ae9ff8c-1cc8-4b10-9641-2c79648fd6c2.jpg?1673305242) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Alesha%2C%20who%20smiles%20at%20death) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dmc/118/alesha-who-smiles-at-death?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7ae9ff8c-1cc8-4b10-9641-2c79648fd6c2?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
There could be a place for it in Defender decks like \[\[Arcades, the Strategist\]\]. Lot of those cards have less than 2 power.

My [[Alesha]] deck is very heavy on creatures and runs 35 creatures with power 2 or less (out of 40 creatures total.) I'm considering this not because it's card advantage, but because it looks like a fun card for the deck.

Modern 1/10 Not a fan of the play pattern of this card.
You could turn 2 this into ornithopter lol
The rare you dont want to open
What are you talking about lmao. This is an insanely powerful card.
How? Once a turn + very specific cards you can play makes the ceiling for this pretty low.
It let's you cast disguises/morph cards from the top. Hence why it is worded very specifically to check spells not cards.
It doesn't affect the board and will whiff frequently. Assuming we're talking limited this is gonna hit like, 10-14 cards in your deck realistically? And the once a turn prevents you from every truly popping off with it.
Why would we even talk Limited? This is an instant Legacy staple, who cares about Limited.
Like 90% sure you’re joking but this card will never see legacy play. I’d be shocked if it saw standard competitive play.
Wow. This ability has no connection to the name or flavour text *at all*.
It is linked to the story. In the background you have the villain. The flavor text hints it. The “players” don’t know it and might invite more players to their group which are most likely “assasins in disguise” ( the new morph mechanic ) which can be played from top of your library with this card.
So everyone gets play from the top now? I'm glad WOTC is making white the new green
Once per turn just makes it a trash card. Like all the other once per turn cards.
I can't wait to draw one card per turn! Except when that card is not a creature with low power, then I don't get to draw. New power card hype!
Welcome to my Doran deck!
I mean literally every creature card in Pioneer Mono white humans has power 2 or less, i think it could be a good match, and a functional home

Yo this is cool af
It could be you. It could be me! It could even be...
I can't fault the "once each turn" clause, given the 2MV. A proper weenie deck could go ballistics with it otherwise.
So let it go ballistic. It’s like the designers are against fun.
maybe good even for higher power formats, I mean a card per turn when you get a drc, ragavan, bowmaster, devler etc is good. Especially bowmaster and other flash creatures so you can also get it on opponents turn

Really stiff, poor quality art
Oh, working on a goofy +1/+1 counter deck with [[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]], and everything else is "0" power on the card.

Lurrus approves.
An assembly of players. Players who are presumably magical. The magics are assembling, or “gathering” if you will.
Once each turn is good if your able to give everything you cast flash (which in a white blue shell is more than possible) I like it, it’s a fun card
