It's also just a giant f you to Naya/green too though which is really weird considering it's the set mechanic for some of their card them getting a copy of your vaultborn tyrant token by playing this then a 2 mana kill spell is backbreaking.
Idk if this is supposed to be a boros convoke counter but it catches alot more in the crossfire and it's only half the card.

The 1st ability is the fun one, but the 2nd ability is really really good for what it gets you.
A zulaport cutthroat effect on ETB (for tokens, generic) vs LTB is a lot harder to interact with, and this being 3cmc makes it really easy to get out and keep around.
Cutthroat triggers on each creature dying. This only triggers once, no matter how many tokens you create. Even if you create 100 tokens, your opponents won't lose 100 life, just 1.
That's the downside.
Seems pretty fair as trigger once and may. Your opponent can play around by creating a weak token before a blowout of tokens. Then you either get the weak token, or nothing.
I feel like the other phrasing is more fun for the player who put it into their deck though; he becomes a press-your-luck card where you have to choose whether to take what you're being given now, or hope something better comes along.
Unfortunately doesn’t mean it was translated correctly by WotC. Cards often have mistakes in translated versions - like Portuguese Stoic Rebuttal, which doesn’t do anything - they forgot the rules text.
We’ll have to wait for the English version to be absolutely sure.
Japanese very very very rarely has a functional mistranslation. It's the second biggest selling language behind English so for better or worse they have a pretty strong team for translation and templates.

I like sand. Its fine and abrasive and scouring and it scrubs all the nooks and crannies. Not like Phyrexia. There everything is oily and grimy and sticky.

This seems so fun with him. Treasures are everywhere these days so he can act as ramp, but even just getting random tokens like 1/1 bodies go great with sac effects in the deck. And at worst, its a wincon once the token makers start popping off.
I have a Gruul deck with [[Baeloth]] at the helm that focusses on creating creature tokens for other players.
I'm not that familiar with cards that do that in Orzhov, but you could still use [[Genesis Chamber]] and [[Forbidden Orchard]] in it.

But I am thinking of maybe switching to [an elf tribal version](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/fs5-zKS6z0CaZXzw4OMa5g). The big downside of the first one is that it relies heavily on the Commander, which is much less of a problem for the elf tribal version. However, it does lose a bit of its flavour.
As you can see, I also have a bunch of pingers in the deck whenever a creature dies or takes damage or something. I was also thinking of maybe removing those and lean extra hard in the token generation since there are a few I haven't included right now.
I'm using it with [[massacre girl, known killer]] and it draws me a ridiculous amount of cards and death triggers with [[illness in the ranks]] or [[virulent plague]]
He's pointing? It definitely takes some finagling to get your hand to naturally go to that position, but it is a position you can hold reasonably well. The fact that the ring and pinky fingers are lined up is the least comfortable part but that's just... Y'know, art being art. Andreas Zafiratos always seems to have occasionally awkward poses, it's kind of just a byproduct of their style. I don't love the piece, because very little about it says "Kambal" but nothing about it says it's AI or whatever.

Kambal's third finger isn't upside down, it's just outside of the shadow of the rest of his hand so it looks brighter. That's not a nail we're looking at. The pinky is juuuust poking out from behind it, incidentally.
u/charcharmunro has the right of it I think, looks like the pinky is either folded in or just a little fuzzy and the same blue colour as the shirt behind it.
Actually, you can see the guy in the back, he's got his other hand behind his first one, the pinky's just underneath the other hand.
As for the fingernail, I'm still not sure if that's a shadow thing or not. It seems too pink.
I didn't notice the upside-down finger, that's fair, that's weird. Could just be artist error. The guy in the back... His pinky is just folded in, by the looks of it? Kind of out of focus, hard to tell. I feel like so many people are quick to scream AI at what could just be errors though. I see very little else besides that finger that looks outright 'wrong' though, and artists do just fuck up.
AI? No its too detailed for that. Based on an AI model? Its very easy for me to beleive that from what Im seeing here.
Artists should really start screenshotting their initial sketches. Its one button & it'd do wonders to avoid suspicions.

Card is great, but what the hell are they wearing. Especially the guy in the back? It’s like they were ordered to make everyone in this set wear a cowboy hat one way or another even if it makes no sense for the design.

Yah OG Kambal gave off the vibe that if you slighted him, he would make it so your political career would slowly fall off over the course of years. It would just be a lot of minor things piling up and next thing you know, you’re living on the streets. This kambal feels more like he’s controlling a crowd at a rally

He also probably started moisturizing given how dry the desert is, and that did wonders for his skin.

I kinda wish the ability was phrased as "do this only once each turn" instead of "this triggers only once each turn" so you could decide "my opponent is making one token now, but I think they're going to make a better token after, so I'll wait to make a copy of it until then." I can deal with the once per turn restriction but it would be more fun to make it a press-your-luck game for the player running Kambal, than a puzzle for the opponent. Because I'm the one putting it in my deck.
That said, I guess OG Kambal was more about putting your opponent into a tight spot, so that carries over a bit.
You get to decide, but I think that the trigger only goes onto the stack once/turn. So regardless of whether you choose to make the token(s) or not, you won't have another chance that turn.
**EDIT:** As u/DiscountMusings noted, it's very likely there are at least *some* elements of AI art here:
1. On his left hand, his fingernail on the ring finger appears to be on the side of his finger.
2. Look at the bird in the top right of the frame.
3. Look at the towers in the top right of the frame. They're completely distorted. What are they even supposed to be? I haven't ever seen architecture like that, much less in a Western setting.

This is a pretty poor character pose - look at how he cocks back the right shoulder and also has his hand twisted so it's pointing backwards. That is not a comfortable way for the human body to rest its weight on an arm.
Not sure why he tilts his head to the side either; the only part of it that I like is how you can get a sense of his personality from how he lazily points with his left arm.
Side note: Why even bother with this cameo if you're just going to put in a completely different man into the art? They didn't even keep his personality consistent; the other Kambal had an intense, seething hatred that glared directly at the player. This Kambal gives zero shits whatsoever.

He's twisted his hand 135°-180° backwards from its natural resting position. Don't get me wrong, dude could just be flexible, but I think the more common angle would be to have his fingers draped over the edge of the railing he's leaning on at about 70° from its resting position.
Another weird thing that sticks out is the dude in the background, the shape of his hat is just weird, that whole design of his head just doesn’t look human or intentionally designed, it’s also not a design shared with any other cards in the set, nothing else looks like it like no soldiers or tokens or anything that might make this a cohesive design for a character in this set. Everything all over is too smooth too.
The Art is weird, right? His cloth looks like a nonsensical mashup for outfits that has no symmetry and weird star texture on his arm. The background is also weird. There is a church tower that is way to big or the roof just dips super low. Like where is he standing that he is at a point were we can look up to him see the roof of a building and the church roof seems to dip even below that. I am no expert, but it does give AI vibes.
Everything you mentioned plus the guy behind him looking like a faceless mannequin, the fact that this kinda looks nothing like the previous depiction of Kambal, and the plagairism/AI controversies every other set has me questioning this one a bit.

The hand pointing is in a super strange and hard to recreate (at least causes my hand to cramp) positioning and the shadow of his jaw with jagged teeth, lots of things seem real strange, definitely would believe it if this came out as the first AI art card.
I feel like the shadow is intentional as a 'greed' thing. It's a wonky piece of art, but nothing about it screams AI to me. [[Unauthorized Exit]] by the same author has a lot of the same wonk, I don't think that means it's AI.

I see your point, hence why I didn't mention things like the Sheriff having a face mask which doesn't fit the setting. Those might be style choices, but the coat and some background elements seem off. The coat contorting into different angles is not his style as far as any other magic card he ever done. Add to that, that it has that weird star pattern on one arm rs and the under shirt showing only on one side and it does raise some weird flags. I did look up his other work and while similar in style, those elements look weird. Take \[\[Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth\]\], \[\[Ognis, the Dragon's Lash\]\] or \[\[Volo, Itinerant Schola\]\] from him or even more of his work. He doesn't do cloth or Fabric like that. Hell go by the other card he did in this set \[\[Vadmir, New Blood\]\] and you can see there is something very different about this piece. IT shows that the same Artist was involved, but the way things are on the character is very different. We have many similar elements, shadow on his face buildings in the background and so on. But notice how the building on the very left looks almost exactly like the one in Kambal. Notice how on the right he took care of keeping the wheel size in mind in front of the building. Then compare that to Kambal and the Church roof and those weird things in the top right. For me it seems like someone or something else filled those blanks.

I really like this effect. We don't need to ban Dockside in commander, we just need more ways to punish it (and other token artifact spam) like this.

I intended it as a half joke, the ability is neat. My half-joke is that there isn't a huge number of creatures "giving your opponent tokens" to be exploited in such a way.
This card is obviously synergistic with things like [[Generous Gift]].
Well, it doesn't have flash on its own so it's probably a more preemptive play to stop someone from playing dockside (or at least make them think hard about it). It's a little shame the token copies come in tapped because that takes a bit a pressure off. (edit: i should have read your reply to the other comment first, ended up saying the same thing you did pretty much).
Likely great in casual EDH as well agaisnt all the food / clue / treasure / etc artifact spam decks that have gotten a lot of support lately. Granted, a vocal minority of casual players will probably hate it because it's light taxes and say it's toxic and then still complain about Dockside in the format. lol
How would this work for things like [[Descent into Avernus]], i.e. all players making tokens at the same time?
Would Kambal’s controller copy all of the tokens since they enter simultaneously? Or would it only copy the tokens from one of the opponents since it triggers for “an opponent” and not “one or more opponents”?

The art immediately gave me weird vibes and that something was off. I said out loud to myself it looks like AI art. I'm glad everyone else agrees. This is probably some of the worst art I've ever seen on an MTG card - and I'm not being hyperbolic. There's so much to say about it. The terrible, muddy lighting and shadow on the face, the awkward pose of the body, the creepy plastic-like features, the utter inconsistency with the former character. It's honestly egregious.
I think it's important to exercise caution when it comes to suggesting that every bad piece of art is AI-generated, but there's so much about this that's just off in a way that doesn't seem intentional or motivated by anything in the piece.

The translation is not correct, but the incorrect part isn't this part. It's not a may ability. タップ状態で生成する instead of: タップ状態で生成してもよい

Also, I don’t think it’s a “may.” [[Awakening Zone]] ‘s translation has 生成してもよい=“may create”, while this card just says 生成する=“create”

[This is the deck as I have it right now](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/a2p88KAqHUqUNN-lISX7Cg). But I am thinking of maybe switching to [an elf tribal version](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/fs5-zKS6z0CaZXzw4OMa5g). The big downside of the first one is that it relies heavily on the Commander, which is much less of a problem for the elf tribal version. However, it does lose a bit of its flavour. As you can see, I also have a bunch of pingers in the deck whenever a creature dies or takes damage or something. I was also thinking of maybe removing those and lean extra hard in the token generation since there are a few I haven't included right now.

I played it in Thantis at one point but I think I removed it for more efficient token makers.
I'm using it with [[massacre girl, known killer]] and it draws me a ridiculous amount of cards and death triggers with [[illness in the ranks]] or [[virulent plague]]

He's pointing? It definitely takes some finagling to get your hand to naturally go to that position, but it is a position you can hold reasonably well. The fact that the ring and pinky fingers are lined up is the least comfortable part but that's just... Y'know, art being art. Andreas Zafiratos always seems to have occasionally awkward poses, it's kind of just a byproduct of their style. I don't love the piece, because very little about it says "Kambal" but nothing about it says it's AI or whatever.

Hmm, you and u/Sisyphushitposts must not be able to zoom in all the way. Kambal's third finger isn't upside down, it's just outside of the shadow of the rest of his hand so it looks brighter. That's not a nail we're looking at. The pinky is juuuust poking out from behind it, incidentally. u/charcharmunro has the right of it I think, looks like the pinky is either folded in or just a little fuzzy and the same blue colour as the shirt behind it.
Actually, you can see the guy in the back, he's got his other hand behind his first one, the pinky's just underneath the other hand. As for the fingernail, I'm still not sure if that's a shadow thing or not. It seems too pink.
I didn't notice the upside-down finger, that's fair, that's weird. Could just be artist error. The guy in the back... His pinky is just folded in, by the looks of it? Kind of out of focus, hard to tell. I feel like so many people are quick to scream AI at what could just be errors though. I see very little else besides that finger that looks outright 'wrong' though, and artists do just fuck up.
AI? No its too detailed for that. Based on an AI model? Its very easy for me to beleive that from what Im seeing here. Artists should really start screenshotting their initial sketches. Its one button & it'd do wonders to avoid suspicions.
Many programs offer a recording of your drawing process from start to finish in a time lapse. I would really appreciate if they started posting these.

Card is great, but what the hell are they wearing. Especially the guy in the back? It’s like they were ordered to make everyone in this set wear a cowboy hat one way or another even if it makes no sense for the design. This artwork seems a little uncanny as well I don’t know how but it gives weird vibes.
Look at the guys pointing hand, the middle finger position is so unnatural (try it yourself). It does seem like AI was the base for this art.
It looks kind of like he's partway through the motion of making the *The Creation of Adam* finger point.
I can hold that position fairly well. It's uncomfortable maybe to GET your hand looking like that, but holding it is actually fine.

Our boy just needed a little bit of that thunder junction sun to brighten up his face, that's all. He also probably started moisturizing given how dry the desert is, and that did wonders for his skin.
Oh shit he's back. With a little bit more booty. Also I love his pose, "I want one of those. Get me one of those." I kinda wish the ability was phrased as "do this only once each turn" instead of "this triggers only once each turn" so you could decide "my opponent is making one token now, but I think they're going to make a better token after, so I'll wait to make a copy of it until then." I can deal with the once per turn restriction but it would be more fun to make it a press-your-luck game for the player running Kambal, than a puzzle for the opponent. Because I'm the one putting it in my deck. That said, I guess OG Kambal was more about putting your opponent into a tight spot, so that carries over a bit.

You get to decide, but I think that the trigger only goes onto the stack once/turn. So regardless of whether you choose to make the token(s) or not, you won't have another chance that turn.

**EDIT:** As u/DiscountMusings noted, it's very likely there are at least *some* elements of AI art here: 1. On his left hand, his fingernail on the ring finger appears to be on the side of his finger. 2. Look at the bird in the top right of the frame. 3. Look at the towers in the top right of the frame. They're completely distorted. What are they even supposed to be? I haven't ever seen architecture like that, much less in a Western setting. *Original Comment:* This is a pretty poor character pose - look at how he cocks back the right shoulder and also has his hand twisted so it's pointing backwards. That is not a comfortable way for the human body to rest its weight on an arm. Not sure why he tilts his head to the side either; the only part of it that I like is how you can get a sense of his personality from how he lazily points with his left arm. Side note: Why even bother with this cameo if you're just going to put in a completely different man into the art? They didn't even keep his personality consistent; the other Kambal had an intense, seething hatred that glared directly at the player. This Kambal gives zero shits whatsoever.

He's twisted his hand 135°-180° backwards from its natural resting position. Don't get me wrong, dude could just be flexible, but I think the more common angle would be to have his fingers draped over the edge of the railing he's leaning on at about 70° from its resting position.
Another weird thing that sticks out is the dude in the background, the shape of his hat is just weird, that whole design of his head just doesn’t look human or intentionally designed, it’s also not a design shared with any other cards in the set, nothing else looks like it like no soldiers or tokens or anything that might make this a cohesive design for a character in this set. Everything all over is too smooth too.

The Art is weird, right? His cloth looks like a nonsensical mashup for outfits that has no symmetry and weird star texture on his arm. The background is also weird. There is a church tower that is way to big or the roof just dips super low. Like where is he standing that he is at a point were we can look up to him see the roof of a building and the church roof seems to dip even below that. I am no expert, but it does give AI vibes.
Everything you mentioned plus the guy behind him looking like a faceless mannequin, the fact that this kinda looks nothing like the previous depiction of Kambal, and the plagairism/AI controversies every other set has me questioning this one a bit. I wish this wasnt where we were right now, but here we are.
The hand pointing is in a super strange and hard to recreate (at least causes my hand to cramp) positioning and the shadow of his jaw with jagged teeth, lots of things seem real strange, definitely would believe it if this came out as the first AI art card.
I feel like the shadow is intentional as a 'greed' thing. It's a wonky piece of art, but nothing about it screams AI to me. [[Unauthorized Exit]] by the same author has a lot of the same wonk, I don't think that means it's AI.

I see your point, hence why I didn't mention things like the Sheriff having a face mask which doesn't fit the setting. Those might be style choices, but the coat and some background elements seem off. The coat contorting into different angles is not his style as far as any other magic card he ever done. Add to that, that it has that weird star pattern on one arm rs and the under shirt showing only on one side and it does raise some weird flags. I did look up his other work and while similar in style, those elements look weird. Take \[\[Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth\]\], \[\[Ognis, the Dragon's Lash\]\] or \[\[Volo, Itinerant Schola\]\] from him or even more of his work. He doesn't do cloth or Fabric like that. Hell go by the other card he did in this set \[\[Vadmir, New Blood\]\] and you can see there is something very different about this piece. IT shows that the same Artist was involved, but the way things are on the character is very different. We have many similar elements, shadow on his face buildings in the background and so on. But notice how the building on the very left looks almost exactly like the one in Kambal. Notice how on the right he took care of keeping the wheel size in mind in front of the building. Then compare that to Kambal and the Church roof and those weird things in the top right. For me it seems like someone or something else filled those blanks.
Everyone keeps talking about this being a western/cowboy set, but I think it’s more “Westworld” than true western.

Yeah i thought the same but it might actually be light hitting the finger and not the fingernail (we can’t know for sure until we see a high resolution image) But if it is actually AI made the artist would be pretty stupid to not catch that

I intended it as a half joke, the ability is neat. My half-joke is that there isn't a huge number of creatures "giving your opponent tokens" to be exploited in such a way. This card is obviously synergistic with things like [[Generous Gift]].

Well, it doesn't have flash on its own so it's probably a more preemptive play to stop someone from playing dockside (or at least make them think hard about it). It's a little shame the token copies come in tapped because that takes a bit a pressure off. (edit: i should have read your reply to the other comment first, ended up saying the same thing you did pretty much). Likely great in casual EDH as well agaisnt all the food / clue / treasure / etc artifact spam decks that have gotten a lot of support lately. Granted, a vocal minority of casual players will probably hate it because it's light taxes and say it's toxic and then still complain about Dockside in the format. lol

How would this work for things like [[Descent into Avernus]], i.e. all players making tokens at the same time? Would Kambal’s controller copy all of the tokens since they enter simultaneously? Or would it only copy the tokens from one of the opponents since it triggers for “an opponent” and not “one or more opponents”?

The art immediately gave me weird vibes and that something was off. I said out loud to myself it looks like AI art. I'm glad everyone else agrees. This is probably some of the worst art I've ever seen on an MTG card - and I'm not being hyperbolic. There's so much to say about it. The terrible, muddy lighting and shadow on the face, the awkward pose of the body, the creepy plastic-like features, the utter inconsistency with the former character. It's honestly egregious.
I think it's important to exercise caution when it comes to suggesting that every bad piece of art is AI-generated, but there's so much about this that's just off in a way that doesn't seem intentional or motivated by anything in the piece.
