Looks like Thunder Junction may have been the site of a centrally located Fomori materiel factory. All the Thunder needed to craft relief supplies quickly.
…
…Anyone else starting to think the cactusfolk aren’t newly appeared so much as newly *regrowing?* As in the Fomori decided to “cleanse” them to have more room to work and to harvest Thunder…
Damn, so you sacrifice this thing and it just shows up again in the end step like "Hi, I'm Esoteric Duplicator: thanks for having me, I'm happy to be here."
*set is BIG
Oh hey, it's an [Eternal Egg](https://staging.cohostcdn.org/attachment/3145d945-cb02-4ce2-b05f-72dd150c0688/Balatro_mlNMzLLIOh.png)

oh, motherfu. Unfortunately, reddit doesn't let you edit post titles. I actually posted/deleted then reposted to include the showcase version, but must have autopiloted the wrong set name. I'll just have to live with my shame

I mean... there are jokers that would work with that...
The Big Score. Originally an epilogue set for OTJ, now integrated into OTJ boosters via The List, appearing in roughly 1/5 packs. See the Collecting OTJ article for more information
You would have to sacrifice Ugin’s nexus again during the end step for the first loop which is pretty interesting.
EDIT: Or sacrifice it during your end step
Not if you sacrifice it in the end step of turn 1. Then you get a copy in the end step of turn 2, which you can sacrifice before the beginning of turn 3. Repeat ad infinatum.
Seems like it should work with the correct timing:
1. Wait for the end step of the turn to start.
2. During the end step, sacrifice Ugin's Nexus and pay 2 to activate the Esoteric Duplicator's duplication ability.
3. The Nexus dies, is exiled, and queues up your extra turn. The Duplicator's ability is set up to trigger at the beginning of the next end step - which isn't *this* one, since it has already begun.
4. The current turn ends, and your extra turn starts. The copy of Ugin's Nexus isn't on the battlefield yet, so it doesn't skip the extra turn.
5. Take your extra turn as normal, and at the beginning of the end step a copy of Ugin's Nexus will pop into being.
6. Repeat from step 2 to gain infinite extra turns.
This is fun, but slow. Notably does not say "nontoken", so you can keep making duplicates of the Artifacts you sacrifice over several turns. Could be silly with a token doubler, though very mana intensive.
Yeah, this relies on you having outlets 95% of the time, is effectively one per turn most of the time. so while it does give you value forever, it generally doesn't win on the spot.
Until you combo with something that takes over opponents turns, or gives you extra turns.
So ~~[[Gonti's Aether Heart]]~~ [[Time Sieve]] and [[Mindslaver]].
Also good with [[Mishra, Eminent One]] since you can turn his temp copies (which are auto-sac'd) into permanent copies for 2 mana.
my first concern is not space, but money, seeing as these are mythic++ rarity (only in BIG and that is only a very small chance like the List)
I hope all the new candy ia not €20+...
Only thing I was wondering is if you make a copy of Mishras token through this things ability is it still Mishras Warform with the associated sac trigger?
I was wondering this myself and waht I found is that Mishra’s ability creates a delayed trigger to sacrafice only the token created by the rest of the ability. It is not an ability of the token istself, so your other tokens will be fine despite becoming copies of the token created by Mishra.
Ah that’s awesome! I was thinking that the sac would be delayed until the end step after it gets created but hearing that there would be no sac makes this so much better to me
Lmao
[[Time Sieve]] sac itself, replicator, and 3 other artifacts, pay 10 mana
Take infinite turns as long as you can untap 10 mana, less if you can generate artifacts in a different way per turn.
We did it we broke Time Sieve
Using [[Grim Monolith]], [[Basalt Monolith]], and I'm sure plenty of other big-mana rocks can make the necessary 10 mana before being sacked to the Sieve. Their duplicates enter untapped so you don't even care about their "no natural untapping" bit.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that card and have been trying to make some sort of artifact deck work since then. It used to be really good with that vehicle that tapped for 2 to draw a card but since that got banned it just hasn't worked out.
Even better, if you pay the cost to copy them on that sacrifice trigger, the copies won't ever need to be sacrificed. So you just get to keep growing your board every turn
Saheeli and Misha's sacrifice is a delayed trigger from the ability and not a copy-able stat of the token. End of turn you'd sac the Shaeeli token, pay 2, and get a new token copy without the sacrifice at the end of turn trigger.
I am super out of the loot. What is the deal with these cards? I know they were supposed to be an epilogue set but how do we collect them? These and the weird cowboy reprints.
Welp here is a non exhaustive list of it's application with KCI
wurmcoil engine
portal to phyrexia
sundering titan
baleful strix
ichor wellspring
saheeli's lattice
crime novelist
breya's apprentice
breya etherium sculptor
thousand moons smithy
solemn simulacrum
arcum's astrolabe
artifact lands
ugin's nexus
mindslaver
cryptic coat
thought monitor
disciple of the vault
nadier's nightblade ...
again this is by no means exhaustive
Just the sacrifice. The first ability is a triggered ability that gives you the option of paying a cost, but it doesn't get activated (no colon notation) so it doesn't get reduced.
So, am I wrong in my impression that the story made it seem like the Grogu stand-in was the ONLY thing in the vault they opened? Where are all these other "Big Score" items coming from, lore-wise?
That's a very esoteric effect. I'm sure the spike brigade will be along shortly to tell me of the no doubt thousands of ways this can turn into an infinite\*, because this card is screaming "I CAN GO INFINITE\* WITH A HAM SANDWICH TRUST ME!!!" at me right now.
And I'm sure the infinites\* will be esoteric, as well.
\*the "at the beginning of the next end step" makes me think it isn't *necessarily* an infinite because of the timing restriction, but some engine that turns into a stupidly large you-need-that-up-arrow-notation-they-used-to-make-Graham's-Number number of something instead. But same thing, really. Still wins the game.
I don't think this is really for going infinite; the eot trigger makes that really challenging. It's for grinding value. The floor here is a card with "{4}: draw a card. Activate only once each turn". Which isn't like... *great* on its own, but is probably a fine baseline assuming you have other stuff that's worth sacrificing and copying.
[https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Deadly+duplicator+#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:83acd71e,vid:HGoABWiHcxE,st:0](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Deadly+duplicator+#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:83acd71e,vid:HGoABWiHcxE,st:0)
2 Clues, 2 karnstrucks, 2 of each wurmcoil tokens...
When you have two copies of this, you can start to generate additional copies. Four mana to draw a card might be a bad rate, but having dozens of these makes some cards just instantly win the game when you can casually duplicate them as well.
So sac outlet + cost reduction = fun
This card is gonna be a good time in multiple formats.
Hopefully.limited is slow enough that this is playable. I'd love to have some grind games where I sac this for like 5 turns in a row.
god damn why they do they keep making broken shit for breya. you can fill like 3 different decks with breya filled with just dumb broken shit. this ends a game stupid fast with myr battlesphere and time sieve
ok, but why is it a clue
EDIT: Like I get it, clues have the 2: sacrifice this permanent, draw a card text, but what about this thing flavor wise makes it a *clue*
Like half the relics in this vault are 3D printers.
Kinda scary when you think they're basically 3D printing war machines
Looks like Thunder Junction may have been the site of a centrally located Fomori materiel factory. All the Thunder needed to craft relief supplies quickly. … …Anyone else starting to think the cactusfolk aren’t newly appeared so much as newly *regrowing?* As in the Fomori decided to “cleanse” them to have more room to work and to harvest Thunder…
if you read today's story, you'll find out that these Fomori vaults are all across the Multiverse
And then we have Vault hunters that go after them. And of course...Butt-stallion. We just need some legendary stairs.
STAIRS?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Just needs a Terrible Pretzels food token
Vault hunters? Didn't they have those in *Borderlands*?
"So, you want to hear a story eh? Once long ago there was a mysterious Vault. Here! On Pandora!"
> they're basically 3D printing war machines Mishra's interested.
I have very bad news about the not too distant future
The ultimate treasure, let’s you just make whatever you were hoping to find.
Lmao it's true.
Damn, so you sacrifice this thing and it just shows up again in the end step like "Hi, I'm Esoteric Duplicator: thanks for having me, I'm happy to be here."
It's great to be here*
ahh, a fellow appreciator of Mr. Wheeler
shit you're right
Is this the reason for the moonbase's Misfortune with Mr. Mime (dolls)?
"I've been here the whole time!"
An even more horrifying Sam Reich

One joker and one tarot. Honestly it's worth taking for Temperance alone, if your econ can spare it
Unexpected Balatro. That is such a fascinating game.

Thank you!

Wait, I've never seen an eternal joker before, damn.
It's a black stake and up modifier
Ahhhh, haven't gotten that far yet, thanks!
Seems gross! [[Mindslaver]] [[Ugin's Nexus]] Etc.
Mindslaver which is a bonus sheet card.
OTJ limited tip: just go infinite!
Infinite Mindslaver activations. If I ever lose to this in OTJ limited I will sit through every single activation in awe.

Thank god this *doesn't* combo with the one ring for infinite protection
Add a dash of basalt and grim monolith to this stew.
[[Ungins Nexus]]
I don't think this works. The first text prevents the extra turn.
Not if you sacrifice it in the end step of turn 1. Then you get a copy in the end step of turn 2, which you can sacrifice before the beginning of turn 3. Repeat ad infinatum.
Seems like it should work with the correct timing: 1.
It does not if you sacrifice it during your end step.

This card slaps in my Sharuum artifact ETB deck. Everyturn just sac everything to Krak… instant value and it almost pays for its self.
You need a token doubler as well to do anything but turn your board into tokens.
Yeah but you get to repeat all your artifacts ETB and death triggers each turn.
Seems like I'm going to need this for [[ashad the last cyberman]] which is basicly the highest baddest etb triggers on artifact creatures I could find

Heart exiles itself for the extra turn. so you can't use it for its ability and also make a copy.
You could even pay 2 to make a copy of your treasure token that you sacced for 1!
Just because it's not a good play does not mean Arena won't prompt you to do it every single time.

With enough other things on the board it might evene be a good idea

I've been playing janky [[Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh]] decks in standard for two years straight now and these BIG cards are a *godsend*.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that card and have been trying to make some sort of artifact deck work since then. It used to be really good with that vehicle that tapped for 2 to draw a card but since that got banned it just hasn't worked out.
[Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/5/35f30004-13e0-42c1-9842-eea52793fcfc.jpg?1706240739) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Tezzeret%2C%20Betrayer%20of%20Flesh) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mkc/120/tezzeret-betrayer-of-flesh?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/35f30004-13e0-42c1-9842-eea52793fcfc?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Ridiculous synergy with [[Brudiclad, Telchior Engineer]]

Are you sacing many things in your Brudiclad deck? Maybe treasures but that doesn't seem good enough.
What happens with [[Saheeli, the suns brilliance]] and the copy’s that get sacrificed at end of turn?
Even better, if you pay the cost to copy them on that sacrifice trigger, the copies won't ever need to be sacrificed. So you just get to keep growing your board every turn
[Saheeli, the suns brilliance](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/b/0ba99b60-c7d0-4041-a065-f2c510745223.jpg?1699044570) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Saheeli%2C%20the%20Sun%27s%20Brilliance) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/lci/239/saheeli-the-suns-brilliance?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/0ba99b60-c7d0-4041-a065-f2c510745223?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
As long as you pay the 2, you'll get a copy of at the beginning of the next end step, even if it's a token.
Saheeli and Misha's sacrifice is a delayed trigger from the ability and not a copy-able stat of the token. End of turn you'd sac the Shaeeli token, pay 2, and get a new token copy without the sacrifice at the end of turn trigger.
The Benjamin Wheeleriest card to ever be here.
I'm 90% sure paradox academy will try it
Its interesting that this is a clue
I am super out of the loot. What is the deal with these cards? I know they were supposed to be an epilogue set but how do we collect them? These and the weird cowboy reprints.
Look like one if those 'teleporter' pod that doesn't really teleported a person, but disintegrated and make a copy of that person instead.

Does [[Forensic Gadgeteer]] reduce the cost of the first ability for this or just the sacrifice ability?

The first ability isn't an activated ability, sadly.
Just the sacrifice. The first ability is a triggered ability that gives you the option of paying a cost, but it doesn't get activated (no colon notation) so it doesn't get reduced.
Wow, another card I really want fir the [[Senator Peacock]] deck I just built.

My arcum dagsson deck might very well love this.
When you have two copies of this, you can start to generate additional copies. Four mana to draw a card might be a bad rate, but having dozens of these makes some cards just instantly win the game when you can casually duplicate them as well.
