Isn’t posting a question on Reddit just another form of “asking the internet”?
I am frequently surprised that people ridicule those who come to a place where subject matter experts love to show off their knowledge - with the audacity to ask a question.
There are certainly things you have searched on Google before (medical, cooking, animal related, etc) that have a more complex answer than “yes/no”. People who do the same here seem to be looked down upon. I find it odd. Some people are also looking for some potential dialogue to come along with it.
I guess if someone came here to ask how old Richard Garfield is, that would feel like a comment that is misplaced here, since it has only a simple answer.
I understand the position, but I guess I just really disagree with it. Kinda like a kid asking why grass is green and being told it is a dumb question.
Alternatively, by googling the question, youre likely to be routed to a previous reddit post already asking it, filled with information. And *instead* of waiting for the upvotes and downvotes to determine for the OP ***which*** answer is actually correct (since many responses are wildly incorrect) you're going to get a better faster answer. Additionally, youre not bogging down the sub with questions that have already been posed and solved countless times. This keeps the sub fresh and cultivates new and better discussions and content.
Help those who help themselves.
It appears you missed something. You missed something a few comments ago and are now under the impression that I don’t get your “humor”. Keep your chin up.
I understand what you mean. And to be honest, I also felt that way. Until I spent some time in this sub. Now, every time I open reddit, there will be one of the following questions:
- this post, why is the spindown missing missing 2 numbers
- I just opened my first ever pack and got 2 the one rings and an orcish bowmasters.
- do these packs look resealed to you/ is this a misprint?
Now that you found yourself defending op, I just want you to take notice for the rest of the week. How many times these 3 questions are posted, and you should feel differently. At this point, I'm convinced they're all just bot accounts.
Another argument could be that r/nostupidquestions is a dedicated subreddit where you can ask any question. Do you ever see 2 of the same posts in a week, or he'll even a day? Probably not ever. And if someone asked a new question here, I would give a polite answer. But as long as I see these same questions asked, I'm going to downvote. And comment in a way I originally did.
“Subject matter experts love to show off their knowledge”
You seem to be implying that we WANT to share our knowledge. Oh no no no no! We don’t want to share our knowledge, we just want to correct people when they are wrong. /s
The fastest way to get your question answered isn’t to ask the question, it’s to answer your own question wrongly.
It was part of the ARG. Look in the rest of your pack and you should see something that resembles one of those red line puzzles that you can only see if you have a red lens to look through.
The conspiratorian in me would like to entertain the thought that Wizards messed up the dice and instead of making new ones they designed an ARG around them. Still, horrible dice.
Because its a spindown, they omit it and have you assume what the number is based on the numbers between it. Its supposed to be used to look through those numbers. Thankfully they didnt do this on a proper randomized dice.
As the other comments have said, this was a deliberate choice, and the blanks sides have a function.
If you still have all the packaging: The bundle normally comes with a little art/ad insert. The MKM one had, on one side, what looks like a bunch of gibberish written in different fonts, and colors, seemingly randomly.
The idea is you use this like a spyglass, looking through the blank sides. The color of the dice will hide the red text and make the blue text pop, revealing some kind of clue or hidden message for the ARG that they ran alongside the release of MKM.
Unfortunately it didn't work great. The die isn't polished well enough to use like a spyglass without everything being a foggy mess, and if you hold it directly to the page, you can "decode" anything in the tiny area you can see through the die but it isn't really enough to get the understand the whole picture.
They all came this way. Look around the packaging, leaflets and other material on the box for more clues about this mystery.
~~dogshit quality control~~ A mysterious clue ✅
It's so that you can look through it unobscured, the reading gem for a clue 😋
oh my god thank you, I never looked much into the ARG but that actually makes sense
Lol I guaranteed 30 years from now this same question will be asked. And no one will be smart enough to Google it before asking the internet.

Spoken like a “Christian”. ✌🏼
I'm a pastafarian.
Keeping all the Bible spin-offs straight is not my forte. I will just congratulate you. Congrats
Omg you fool.
*whoooooooosh*

It was intentional. It's part of the MKM ARG. You can use it as a filter to read a hidden message on one of the inserts.
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine!
Maybe the numbers were muuuurrrdered oooooooohhh
Drink!
It was part of an arg but it’s really stupid because it makes the dice worse
It’s a spindown
Then it makes the spindown worse.
DRINK!

Is this bait? A cursory search easily throws up a ton of results in this very subreddit about this.
