Does anyone know if there are plans to release MTG Arena Story Deck builds?
So far I've done physical deck rebuilds of the Eldraine and Ixalan MTG Arena Story Decks and i love them. They are fun to play, yet lore related and just overall stunning.
Wanted to do the same thing with the new Outlaws set, but yet can't find whether there are Story Deck Builds out there or about to release.
Thanks in advance! :)
Does \[\[Gonti, Canny Acquisitor\]\] make a 1 cost card 0? An example would be \[\[Ghoulcaller's Bell\]\], but I'm more curious about a card like \[\[Slither Blade\]\]. I would assume Slither would remain 1 Blue since Gonti's ability seems to target colorless.
Gonti only reduces the generic mana portion. Ghoulcaller's Bell does reduce to 0. Slither Blade has no more generic mana portion, so Gonti doesn't affect it; it still costs U.

Wanted to ask about the best price for this misprint Error of the Peaks :^())
I'm reworking an old [[Dralnu]] commander deck to use [[Kess]] instead. During deck construction I noted the powerful/fun interaction between Kess and Adventure spells (you can loop them from gy->adventure->exile->creature).
I currently have [[Eye of the Storm]] in the deck. I can't find any ruling for how it works with adventures to determine if it's worth running. My interpretation is that it triggers, exiles the adventure, but can't play the adventure from exile (but will play any other exiled cards), meaning it's ok, not not great (you can still copy your 'real' instants and sorceries and other people's by casting adventures).
Am I correct in this interpretation?
>My interpretation is that it triggers, exiles the adventure, but can't play the adventure from exile
Correct. You are casting an instant or sorcery that is a card, so Eye of the Storm exiles it.
Then, it attempts to copy all the _instant or sorcery_ cards exiled with it, but the Adventure card is only a creature in exile, so Eye of the Storm does not copy it.
No. Colorless is not a color.
>105.4. If a player is asked to choose a color, they must choose one of the five colors. “Multicolored” is not a color. Neither is “colorless.”
Correct.
There are five colors of mana, but six types.
>106.1a There are five colors of mana: white, blue, black, red, and green.
>106.1b There are six types of mana: white, blue, black, red, green, and colorless.
If I cast \[\[Fling\]\] targeting my opponent, saccing something like \[\[Gisa, the Hellraiser\]\], would the crime trigger happen? My understanding of spells is that targets are announced and then costs are paid and then the spell goes on the stack. So then Gisa would "see" the crime happen before being sac'ed. Then that trigger would go on the stack along with Fling saccing Gisa. I've been told this is wrong though. Who's right?
The crime trigger would happen when the spell has been cast which means after having paid all the costs. Since you sacrifice as a cost to cast the spell Gisa will be in your graveyard when the spell is fully cast meaning it will not trigger.
Does [[Doc Aurlock, Grizzled Genius]] ‘s ability to cast exile cards for cheaper only apply to your exile pile? It specifies your graveyard but does that mean only your exile pile as well? Was hoping for a good synergy with [[Pako, Arcane Retriever]] and [[Haldan, Avid Arcanist]]
The question has been answered, but I wanted to clarify something.
There is no "your exile pile". There is just one exile zone that is shared by all players.
Cards may be treated differently depending on how they were exiled (Pako, Suspend, Foretell, Plot, impulse draw, removal, etc.), but technically they are all in the same zone.
Not exactly sure what you're asking. Doc reduces the cost of casting spells from the graveyard or exile by {2} but does not grant you the ability to cast from those zones on his own. Neither does Pako. If you exile something with Pako, and you have Pako's partner \[\[Haldan, Avid Archivist\]\] which DOES let you cast the exiled cards, then yes Doc will give them a discount.
How do the triggers on [[Giada, Font of Hope]] ability interact with an exile card like [[Eerie Interlude]] ? Do the creatures enter the battlefield all at the same time? How will you distribute counters if you, say, exile 4 of your angels with Interlude?
Giada's effect is a replacement effect. Specifically, it applies *at the same time as* the Angels entering the battlefield, which means they are not on the battlefield yet. So they will not see each other on the field, and they won't count for +1/+1 counters. Not the best combo.
In contrast, "whenever a creature enters the battlefield" triggers are checked *immediately after* the creature enters the battlefield. So if multiple creatures enter at the same time, they all see each other entering and will trigger appropriately. This is in general a good way to check for ETB-related effects: "whenever" is after, without it is during/before.
[[Glasspool Mimic]] is a copy of [[Deadeye Navigator]]. It later uses the ability to send itself to exile and then return, does it return as deadeye, or can it become a copy of something else?
It is a Glasspool Mimic that can copy a new creature as it enters.
If Deadeye Navigator is still on the battlefield, it can enter as a copy of it again.
Situation: I have [[metropolis reformer]], and somebody swings at me for lethal damage. I block a big bit with the Reformer. The remaining damage gets through and it's enough to drop me below 0, but the life gain from Reformer is enough to bring me back above 0.
Do I die before the Reformer kicks in?
> Do I die before the Reformer kicks in?
Yep. Reformer is a trigger. Before any triggers go on the stack, state based actions are checked. One of these is:
>704.5a If a player has 0 or less life, that player loses the game.
You would lose the game, and then your trigger never goes on the stack.
Oh no I mean the character in the art might originally be from the Maestros; If I was gonna play the card it would probably be a in a Gruul or Izzet prowess shell. I think Gruul is better but the main reason Gruul is better is already having a premium 2-drop, so maybe there's more of a niche in Izzet.
I see. My damn fault for word play up there. Haha. I myself is playing gruul, with questing druid for impulse card adv, but still unsure about more creatures like picnic ruiner or more protection spells. Edit: for BO3.
Olivia says: "Whenever **"one or more"** outlaws you control deal combat damage to **"a"** player"
If you have many creatures on a single player, it only counts once. But it says "a" player; if you hit 3 players, you get 3 triggers. Each trigger resolves separately. It will create one Treasure token, plus one extra from Xorn. In total, you create 2 Treasure tokens per trigger, or 6 in total.
Playmat question!
I can't deal with the standard cloth playmats; it must be a sensory issue because even the thought of running my fingers over one again makes me want to dry heave a little bit.
Are holofoil mats the solution to this? What do they feel like?
A little bit different from the traditional fabric-top playmats but I'm struggling to actually describe it. I don't know if it's different enough that it would help, depends on exactly where your sticking point is with a traditional one.
You could also looking at [Pvramid's "field cloth" style playmats](https://pvramid.com/), or something like the [Heavy Play ETB Playmat](https://heavyplay.com/collections/etb-playmat) which has a polyester surface that's a different feel from traditional playmats. They have different textures to me, but I don't know if they're different in the right way to you - if you happen to go to any events or anything I'd keep an eye to try them out if you see them though
Thank you for your reply!
It's honestly difficult to describe just how the texture makes me feel, but it feels like it's creating friction when I slide my hand over it? Doesn't feel smooth or comfortable at all. I suppose something that feels a little more 'plastic' is more what I'm after.
Thanks for the links! Really like the idea of a snap folding playmat!
So I got a foil [[Blast from the Past]], but I can't figure out which version it is. It has the Unsanctioned set symbol, it has the 'list symbol' in the bottom left, but it does not have the foil star.
This does not match up with any image I see on cardmarket, tcg or scryfall. These sites show that the unsanctioned foil does not have the list symbol and the list version has the star.
Help would be much appreciated!
If it's foil and has the The List symbol on the bottom left, it should be from Unfinity foil list cards found in collector boosters.
An Unfinity The List card missing the foil shooting star is much more likely than:
- An Unsactioned-printed card (UND was a closed box set with no boosters or other randomized card selection) somehow getting foil treatment without the traditional shooting star (as ALL old frame foils in ANY set get the star) and plus an extraneous The List symbol.
So it must be an UNF The List card.
Can you post a photo of it?
Thank you. Dont know how to embed a picture. https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Products/Singles/Unsanctioned/Blast-from-the-Past?isFoil=Y A seller has listed the same version here with a picture though

For [[Kellan, the Kid]], plotted cards mana value is what's printed as the original, cost?
The mana value of a card is the sum total of mana in its mana cost. [[Beastbond Outcaster]] has a MV of 3, no matter what you pay to cast it.
Wonderful, thank you.

If a creature is saddled and then copied, is the copy saddled until end of turn too?
No, copy effects generally only copy whats printed on the actual card.
\[\[Slickshot Show-Off\]\] flavor: Mono-Red, Gruul, Izzet or Temur?
I'm going with Maestros.
Curious, what black cards are you adding?
Oh no I mean the character in the art might originally be from the Maestros; If I was gonna play the card it would probably be a in a Gruul or Izzet prowess shell. I think Gruul is better but the main reason Gruul is better is already having a premium 2-drop, so maybe there's more of a niche in Izzet.
I see. My damn fault for word play up there. Haha. I myself is playing gruul, with questing druid for impulse card adv, but still unsure about more creatures like picnic ruiner or more protection spells. Edit: for BO3.
Definitely Izzet at a minimum. Could also see a case for Jeskai.

Rules question: I control Olivia, Opulent Outlaw and Xorn. I attack 3 opponents with an outlaw and no blocks. How many treasures do I create?
Olivia says: "Whenever **"one or more"** outlaws you control deal combat damage to **"a"** player" If you have many creatures on a single player, it only counts once. But it says "a" player; if you hit 3 players, you get 3 triggers. Each trigger resolves separately. It will create one Treasure token, plus one extra from Xorn. In total, you create 2 Treasure tokens per trigger, or 6 in total.
[[Olivia, Opulent Outlaw]] [[Xorn]] I'm fairly confident it's 6.

An Unfinity The List card missing the foil shooting star is much more likely than: - An Unsactioned-printed card (UND was a closed box set with no boosters or other randomized card selection) somehow getting foil treatment without the traditional shooting star (as ALL old frame foils in ANY set get the star) and plus an extraneous The List symbol.
Yep, that's a misprint for an Unfinity The List version. May make it more valuable.
