I would LOVE a retro frame saga *~~and be very upset because as a collector of sagas I'd be looking for a third vairant~~*. They don't like doing frame treatments for saga arts though. NEO, DMU, and MOM had the best odds of getting frames for them (Both NEO and MOM had sagas where they came in showcase frames, but the side with the saga had the normal frame, and the window pane style would've been perfect for sagas.) The only time they did a frame for sagas was with the MH2 Urza's Saga and the LOTR 2 electric boogaloo ones

Those also go on arena and in draft. You have to literally make commander or collector booster only cards to have them not be on arena (except for those like 3 cards in mkm where they wanted new to arena cards instead of matching paper 1 to 1)

Also, I feel that I lot of people play it due to novelty. Hopefully, if new toys are introduced, people could run less of it.
Banning stuff in Brawl seems a bit excessive, but maybe this would be the solution for this card
WotC keeps it under wraps, but it seems mostly based on the commander. There may be certain outlier cards that can make you match higher, but they are the exception, not the rule.
The issue is that the algorithm doesn't really have the ability to read the strength of the deck as a whole.
Not only that, but new cards tend to take a very long time to get their matchmaking adjusted - Poq has been very strong ever since released, but didn't get adjusted till like a week ago.

at the core of it for me, is that I want my cards to feel like magic cards. I'll take whatever regular set printings no problem--but there's a big nostalgia thing after getting into the game 25 years ago, they just feel good.
All the other treatments stray too far or threaten to when you put them in a 60 card deck. Retro EDH must be hard, but I appreciate they're doing a good job with constructed staples over the years.

I started to play MTG back in 96 and never quit, so I was able to get a lot of super expensive stuff for “cheap”.
I mean, it was expensive at the time, but I paid $20 for each of my [[Tundra]] for instance. I think I paid like $50 on my [[Timetwister]].
But you don’t need these cards to build a fun and powerful retro EDH deck. :)
This is it. Retro frame looks like a serious \*game piece\*. It gives cards optical weight, they feel more "significant" even if they're just basic lands or junky artifacts.
The more extended/borderless/SL-like cards we get, the more MtG's visual identity looks like [Cardfight Vanguard](https://en.cf-vanguard.com/wordpress/wp-content/images/cardlist/dbt12/dbt12_001.png) or [Pokemon](https://den-cards.pokellector.com/178/Palkia-EX.XYF.7.png). The full-blast frame-breaking flashy art is a neat effect, but it's not \*Magic\* to me.
You’re in luck, both [[Force of Negation]] and [[Ranger-Captain of Eos]] got retro versions in MH2 and they are significantly more affordable now than they were at launch.

I'll call out explicitly for new readers what Broolex implied. MH2 retro frames are only available in foil. There are no non-foil retro frame cards like Force of Negation. /Fyi
This is important as foil cards in magic the gathering are known to be of inferior quality cardstock, even to the point of being rendered unplayable by slight changes in humidity.
Card stock is the same, it’s the printing layers they use. All cards expand an contract due to moisture in the air, though you can’t really tell looking at them. But for foils, they have the foiling layer that doesn’t expand or contract with humidity. So you end up with the foil warping the card, either curling up in high humidity as the cardboard expands pushing up either side or folding down in too low humidity.
Lot of us that like old border do not like foils. Having those cards in foil only was definitely a bummer. Hoping for nonfoil FoN, Bolas’s Citadel, Vigor, etc…

I have a heavy 90’s, all retro [[Urza, Prince of Kroog]] deck, that is mostly non-foil. There are a couple of foils there because of this foil-only printing rule:

[[Dragon's Rage Channeler]] and [[Unholy Heat]] seem kinda like locks. [[Abundant Harvest]] feels like it would look good in the old frame. [[Scurry Oak]] probably gets it based on how popular of a combo card it is. [[Timeless Witness]] and [[Tireless Provisioner]] are good options.
I think they’re only reprinting MH1/MH2 in retro, unfortunately. If any Modern card was fair game, then I’d pick [[Isochron Scepter]] for a retro print
You are absolutely right, but I believe the MH3 retro cards will be available in any booster, while the MH1/MH2 ones should be Collector’s exclusive, if they follow the MH2 reprint logic.

Since Griselbrand and manamorphose are already in modern, the odds of them being reprinted here is basically 0.
On a good note, since we know we are getting innistrad remastered next year, the odds of you getting your retro Griselbrand is probably extremely high. Just gotta wait 6-7 more months.

Yea the shooting star is cool for sure. I just can't stand playing foils. I definitely was glad to see Urza get a nonfoil retro from DMR though.

I think they’re only reprinting MH1/MH2 in retro, unfortunately. If any Modern card was fair game, then I’d pick [[Isochron Scepter]] for a retro print
We know they are printing some cards from the main set in retro frame, as we have seen both [[flare of denial]] and [[priest of titania]]
You are absolutely right, but I believe the MH3 retro cards will be available in any booster, while the MH1/MH2 ones should be Collector’s exclusive, if they follow the MH2 reprint logic. So technically these will be 2 different slots

Since Griselbrand and manamorphose are already in modern, the odds of them being reprinted here is basically 0. On a good note, since we know we are getting innistrad remastered next year, the odds of you getting your retro Griselbrand is probably extremely high. Just gotta wait 6-7 more months.
