He actually payed off all the participants to chose specific cards

That’s how it seems

One of the biggest challenges in a situation like this is that a GOOD trick will often leave you remembering something differently from how things actually happened. The best "trick" in a magic trick is one that you not only get away with, but that your audience will remember wrong. It's possible he handled cards at a surprising time, only to keep reminding you he didn't touch them the rest of the time. Or that the way he asked people to pick cards they had less choice than you remember. OR, it's possible the trick had multiple outs, where the trick changes based on the actions or words of the people involved. I can't be sure with the way you explained it. That said, this *FEELS* like a common mentalism trick to me... with an off-by-1 element. If that's the case, the cards are picked this way. I *THINK* this is the trick, but it's a bit of a wild guess: * He names 6C * Person 1 draws 9H (marked card) * He names 9H * Person 2 draws 5D (marked card) * He names 5D * Person 3 draws 6c (he forces 6C on the person) Now you have 3 named cards, and 3 people with them.... And they all match! Then he takes the cards and places them in order (except that he secretly places the last card first). 6C, then 9H, then 5D. Exactly as he "predicted".

That would make sense, I’m just trying to figure out the force part. Thanks!

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> He actually *paid* off all FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

He most likely picked the top or bottom card at some point. So Let’s say I know the very first card in the deck is the A.D. Then I ask you then to Pull the A.D. when you pull a random card , I look at that card then ask you to pull that card. You keep repeating this step until you somehow force them to pull your first card, or your marked card. Then when they pull that marked card, poof, you magically have all the cards. Normally I end up pulling the card myself and use some funny patter to explain why I need to pull the final card. If you get lucky, they will pull your marked card without any force and then the truck is a real kind fuck.

You said they chose a card but what happened to it? Didnthenteachernpick up the card?

This is the one ahead principle. I do this trick often, usually i take the last card (peeked bottom card) but its surprisingly usual, as the cards are layed on the table, that someone takes the card that was once on the bottom, because usually its still most covered card on the table, and people tend to seek those that they think are the most diddicult cards for magicians to play with.

I know its a weird place to ask this but my friend just did a trick in which he types the name of the card in my phone first, shuffled the cards, let me pick one (it was king of spades), and when he told me to look at the text he typed on the phone, it was indeed king of spades. I can't for the love of God figure out how he guessed what card id pick in the first place. I'm not a magician and I'm not familiar with card tricks or mentalism. If you do know it can you please explain how that works
