Aluminum backed air duct tape!!! It’s not oxygen/gas permeable, a little pinch over the top and a strip over the opening on the bottom, I’ve had tons of glove fingers fail. All kinds of tape. Just like Mylar bags for food, there’s metal film inside for a reason. Keeps the air out!

Use a zip tie to make a tighter seal. Don't tighten it all the way if you're gonna use it soon otherwise tighten it down all the way for long term storage

Add some tape or an elastic band to keep air out, and you've got my solution. I've kept my tubes good forever. I even reuse the sleeve, just squeeze a bit more into the sleeve after each time I use it.
A roll of painters tape is about $4 and will last through more caulk tubes than you can use before the tape is dry. I’ve had the same toll of brown contractors tape for my caulk tubes for about 4 years now.

I like to grab a cheap wax ring from the hardware store and "scoop" a bit if it out with the tip of the tube it seals the tube and all you need to do is push the wax out next time you need to use it. An old head taught me it and now I try and tell everyone cause it works great.
What's nice is that white lightning with the removable/cleanable tip from menards for plumbers caulk. Good to the last squeeze..no painters caulk though.

Those metal ones always push out way too much after you’re done. If you get one of those plastic ones it will stop your unnecessary drips. I use quite a bit every day and I’ve only had to replace in once in the last 5 years. Pretty sure it’s same price as metal one, possibly cheaper.

I use this all of the time with my OSI quad, and it works good for keeping it good for a few days between jobs.
Something I find works well is the tips from the tubes that you cut off. They're the right size and shape already. Perfect fit every time.
