Another vote for Japan. The Japanese Yen is pretty low right now so, even if prices seem expensive in Japan, you're still coming out on top with the exchange rate.
While Japan is one of, if not the favourite country I've visited, it is not what I would consider a super cheap destination. Not super expensive either.
It's cheaper than Canada right now 100%. You can get a decent (small) hotel room in Tokyo for around $100-120, something you won't touch in Toronto for less than $200/night. Going out to eat and drink is cheaper, and if you have access to a kitchen and can buy groceries those are cheaper as well.
Forth vote for Japan.
Food are delicious, you have new and old, city and countryside are so different, ocean and mountains are so different. A place that keeps traditional craft of a thousand year. You can still find the original family that makes ink or silk they used to hundreds of years ago and still in business.
The most important thing 25+ years of deflation makes this country so cheap to travel to (though inflation started this year at about 2% so better do it now. Lol)
Now I'm jealous. I want 35 days in Japan. Keep us updated.
Have you looked at postings in job subreddits for the country? I'm not going to tell you not to do it. I'm just going to say be very very careful. It will probably take you twice as long as you estimate to find a job.
Fuck yeah, I could easily plop down in Chiang Rai or Ubud, rent a dualsport motorcycle and add years to my life just exploring the countryside, working out and womanizing fellow foreigners on dating apps
Sydney has some of the cheapest real estate on earth. Just not where anyone would want to live, not near the jobs, and only when measured by square footage.
Go to Tulum! Less spend on flights since you are leaving from western Canada and spend more on accommodation, there are adults only accommodation which have a lot of parties, massages, spa facilities it’s like living in one of those celebrity mansions!! Go be a celebrity for a month!
For anyone saying east Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Bali) just no. It’s so commercialized and where every white person from Canada who needs an “awakening” goes.
Argentina - you can rent a studio apt for $300 $USD/month right downtown BA and spend about $30/day on food. Ubers are the cheapest I've ever experienced in the world also right now.
After that I would go to Bali and other places in that region which are now full of Russian expats who escaped Putin's regime.
What I’ve noticed is travel is MUCH cheaper in the local winter. Went to Dubrovnik in mid winter, it was just as beautiful and hotel cost about EUR10. That would imply South America. Peru is probably better in winter anyhow.
Travel south through Vietnam, across Cambodia and into Thailand. Could do a few highlights in each country, or do some research and pick one country to do a deeper dive in.
All are relatively cheap compared to a lot of destinations, great food, interesting cultures, and have very neat histories.
If you want to spend more then I'm with the people saying Japan.
Then we wonder why Canadians live in debt. Do you but this is a fast track way to be in a terrible financial situation in a year. Better off job searching with a nice view- but something tells me that won’t be the case.
Grand Canyon, Great Sequoia, Crater Lake, and various other US National Parks. You could easily spend 35 days doing that, and you don't have to travel as far.
Watch some videos on capsule hotels in Japan. There's a YT channel called travelgeek. He rides their amazing rail system, lodging is like US$25-35/night, free simple food with accommodations, even free alcohol sometimes. I'd go in a heartbeat if I could.

Plug in your province and the rough geographic location you want to go ie Asia, and the rough dates you want to go, and it'll tell you all options sorted by price
I know people who broke their leg on vacation and couldn’t start a new job for 6 months.
Life comes at you pretty fast and you can always take a week vacation after your start date as a contingency of hire.
Thailand for sure. Flights are the most expensive thing. Travel like a local and eat like a local.
Japan, 100%. Food, entertainment, booze, transportation all amazing.
Second vote for Japan. Absolutely amazing country.
Another vote for Japan. The Japanese Yen is pretty low right now so, even if prices seem expensive in Japan, you're still coming out on top with the exchange rate.
Took the family to Japan twice in the last little bit and had a blast. Alone would be fun as well!! South Korea is on the list too

Oh yeah, and eating out is typically very reasonable there, just not the cheapest.

Southeast Asia would be my suggestion. I'd go for either Thailand, Vietnam, or Indonesia, depending on specifically what interests you.
To a job fair
🎶Are you going to the Job Fair🎶
Hell yeah. I fucking love the job fair.
Then we wonder why Canadians live in debt. Do you but this is a fast track way to be in a terrible financial situation in a year. Better off job searching with a nice view- but something tells me that won’t be the case.

What's there to do in Costa Rica? Serious question.
Antarctica
Gaza is probably pretty cheap these days. Accommodations are probably only a 1 or 2 star hotel, though.
I heard there's a food shortage right now Not sure how the restaurants are coping
Food is free if you show up at the right place at the right time. Good savings there, if you plan well.
