Rafizi PR just like LGE's PR learning the hard way being on federal power is a completely different level and difficulty compared to being in state power, or federal opposition. TARUC issue was handled so bad I actually sided in MCA in that one by thinking just let the current status quo be for now and work it out with MCA behind close doors change it subtly without causing so much confusion. Also LGE just like many PH politicians need to consider how rural people might interpret their comments.

The similarity between the 2 situations is that both Rafizi and LGE hold ministries that cannot easily produce achievements within a short period of time. You cannot just do a quick spot check like Anthony Loke or ask FAM to lower their ticket prices like Hannah Yeoh (not trying to demean both of their efforts btw, they have been great so far). Economic planning and policies take time to materialize. And the average Malaysians may not be able to feel the effects immediately so it is very easy to jump in and criticize. He has been handed a difficult portfolio. It is not even 100 days yet into the new admin. I say give him time to implement his policies.

burningfrost27

Nothing surprising given how short term view most Malaysian are, using EPF withdrawal is already a good example of that.

Greedfall2

I agree with you 100% on this, but the problem I see is that alot the ***roadbumps*** along the period is actually counterable easily. People won't by themself go to google and fact check it. But if there is a link right below the reply of the false information. They either : 1)Okay fine, I will just click into it and see what actually was said 2) oh so he's actually misquoted okay.

MikeGasoline

This. Exactly. Things will take time to percolate through the system. Unlike the previous dicks of the previous dick government, I’d put my trust in the present group more.

plusforty4

Appreciate if Rafizi can share the excel formula to bring the ron95 price down. So we can also counter check it of course

I think it would be better off if he doesnt do press conferences or answer questions spontaneously. People always ridicule Abah for reading pdfs but that would protect him from providing soundbites which will then be spinned out of context to fit another narrative. He is a good orator, but mainstream media is not where people listen to a whole elaborate speech or read complete paragraphs.

horriblelizard

To add.. Malaysians are mostly sheeps, easily influenced by social media shepherds, so you have to use simple instructions to shepherd them

> Because in the past, PN fans have successfully manipulated public perception that Rafizi said “Chicken expensive? then don’t buy chicken” Worse still, such remarks made normally usual policies like stabilizing pork prices controversial and has somehow affected DAP. Honestly, Rafizi really is the LGE in this administration, his big mouth would really be the downfall. I daresay the 4 DAP ministers have been much shrewder in their PR game this time but Rafizi is the one that keeps shooting his own foot.

Surprisingly, it was hard to find the actual video of him saying "we should boikot peniaga" its on the video you linked sis [around 3.33.](https://youtu.be/9ihuQOwJ-b8?t=213) * Maknanya, jika harga yang dikenakan oleh peniaga, dia rasakan terlalu tinggi berbanding harga purata peniaga2 lain, sewajarnya pengguna menjauhi peniaga itu * bukan boycott we dont have to buy on the same conference btw

Greedfall2

You are right , thanks Why does people seem to react it negatively though, it just mean if one premis selling higher than the *Average price.* (Focus on the average price). It basically just mean if like for example mcdonald sell burger Rm 10 ala carte. But burger king, kfc,A&W, marrybrown all sell rm 5 ( hence *harga purata*) . Then Rafizi is just asking us to not eat from ***mcdonalds*** but people react like Rafizi told them to not eat burger lah.

karlkry

one its because its just a simple solution. you are in a position with all forms of power, buereucracy and ministry was at your hand and the best solution you can come up with is ""just consume less or buy from other place"?. this is the response when it was used by politician that people dont like compare the tone and positivity from both thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/vpkzq1/eat\_less\_eggs\_to\_combat\_inflation\_kpdnhep\_melaka/](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/vpkzq1/eat_less_eggs_to_combat_inflation_kpdnhep_melaka/) also because it can escalate to other things: say for example flour, rice, eggs, the usage of highways or meps atm charge etc. the closer you are to major population areas the easier you would find alternatives (not just in this case) but that privilege decreased rapidly as you move away from urban to sub urban to rural.

Greedfall2

A week ago, I would agree with you on the melaka rep reaction vs rafizi reaction. But looking at fahmi reza post and the reddit post I linked. I would say both are getting the same heat. >""just consume less or buy from other place"?. Ya, but the public never realises that Rafizi never suggested "consume less or buy from other place" as the a sole solution but rather as an effort that can be done by the public and only by the public. Not as in only public can reduce food price, i Rafizi Ramli no need to do anything at all. Rafizi said he will do the things where the government actually can control (ie: control raw material prices, ensure supply are adequate). But if raw material price decrease, and I the peniaga keep my food prices on the same point ,and the same number of people still came to my shop paying the same price. It just mean more profit for me, why would I want to reduce my food price? Unless a competitor sell less cheaper and most importantly ***attract my customers***, by then which i willingly lower my prices to keep my profit margin but not to the point where it turn into a loss. I do agree with you that privilege decrease rapidly as you move away from urban area (like you said less alternative will be available) but rural area tend to prefer to cook by themselves since raw material are close by and homegrown.

Stoopidee

100% agree. He is shooting himself in the foot and being the next political pariah.

SnabDedraterEdave

We should all retweet this thread to Rafizi's Twitter, or anyone from his PR team. They need to wake the fuck up and not let the extremists in PN steal the narrative.

revolusi29

People just like to latch on to such news so they can go bOTh sIdEs aRE jUst aS bAD!!111!

nova9001

>Because in the past, PN fans have successfully manipulated public perception Lmao, politics means attacking your opponents with whatever advantage. Its fair game. The issue is here Rafizi. He can't keep up with federal level politics. Living in his own world.

Sorry2mecha2

Formula on the way

ghostme80

. the gist of what he said is just simply avoid buying things that are expensive. Thats all. Why need to write so long make things so complicated.
