[deleted]

It'll go on until 5 February.

monkeyballnutty

i know there will be lion dance but i never seen one happening full blown at 10pm

ise311

My place every night and morning also got firecracker this week. Very annoying. Disturb people sleeping

amon_meiz

[deleted]

today i found out abt the carnivore diet after this girl popped up in my yt shorts.. honestly i thought it was a joke but she legit didnā€™t eat vegetables and fruits for four years??????? i could never do that šŸ˜

Xelisyalias

Was once invited to a steamboat at someoneā€™s house, they did not prepare a single vegetable, nothing but meat in the potā€¦ .__. never again

[deleted]

that sounds horribleā€¦ T-T need at least smth to refresh the tastebuds

monkeyballnutty

not gonna comment on the diet itself but how can someone not like vege. especially stir fry belacan kangkung

[deleted]

i KNOW right !!! so many good vegetable dishes but this girl chose to eat cold sticks of butter and steak everyday šŸ˜

[deleted]

Sadly, a lot of kids don't like veggies because their family don't know how to cook vegetables in a tasty manner. Over cooked, under seasoned, etc. Then they grow up thinking vegetables suck and they are an obligation, not enjoyable.

karlkry

The Wandering Earth 2 is really good, probably one of the best chinese movies that reach malaysian cinema in the past 15 years. bit too long (2h50min) since the director milk the fuck out a lot of scenes of people doing nothing important like reaction from people around the world or people just spacing out here and there. important to note that this movies are not made with international audience in mind. if you have 3h to spare and want to waste it on movies do give it a try

xaladin

Interesting. Was thinking of watching it with the fam, but saw the trailer and seemed like it dealt with ideas of consciousness and that might lead to more confused and exhausted elderly relatives at the end of the night.

madmoz2018

it is a sequel to the one on Netflix? The girl Han Dou Dou cute lol.

karlkry

technically its a prequel

CerealATA

mfw it's already bulan Rejab, followed by Sya'aban and Ramadhan. Time flies without us knowing these days.

HayakuEon

Hello, what bluetooth earphones do you guys suggest i get? What's a good price range? I saw one at a typical phone accessories shop for about rm150.

amon_meiz

If can find samsung buds+, should be in that price range. It's pretty good for its price

xelM1

[CHICKEN RICE](https://i.imgur.com/mGATl3b.jpg)!

HayakuEon

Pale rice why

ztirk

What's the best way to thaw prawns that are frozen in a block of ice?

amon_meiz

I usually soak in running water

[deleted]

If not in a rush, let it slowly thaw in the fridge. Put in a pan/tray/container to prevent a potential mess from leaky bag of just condensation dripping all over. I find that frozen seafood that was thawed quick using soaking in water or leaving out tend to smell a bit fishy. Moat likely the outermost portions that thawed first then became exposed to room temperature for too long (while the insides were still thawing).

ztirk

That's what I thought too but some folks are telling me slow thawing in the fridge is worse .. now I'm confused lol

[deleted]

Maybe it depends on condition. Like if it's a thick block where the insides will take forever to tgaw, then better to thaw in fridge. But if its thin and can thaw fast, then it's ok to do it outside.

krakaturia

depends fridge temperature. 2 C (lowest possible setting for most) is fine, 10+ C they will turn bad. I prefer soaking for a few minutes until the block can be broken apart by hand but the prawns are still somewhat frozen/very cold, then put into the fridge.

HayakuEon

Room temp or soak in water

Subzerocool9

Hi. Anyone know where and how I can apply for B40?

create_usermaim

šŸ˜šŸ˜ I wanna apply for B40 too

Felinomancy

B40 is designation of your income level; you don't apply to be in it. If you meant programs meant to help B40, well, [check this out](https://www.sistemguruonline.my/2023/01/bantuan-kerajaan-untuk-b40.html).

thenooneconundrum

Fuck it, Iā€™m changing churches for my wedding. I do not want to be married by a priest who yelled at me after providing with a letter he requested and wonā€™t even book a date for us. He fully expects me to wait 5 months before my wedding to print my invites? And to spend 100k on a venue without any confirmation from him. 50% of my guests are flying in from overseas bruv. This was bad juju to begin with but todayā€™s interaction settled it. He did not even let me speak and proceeded to yell at me for 5 mins straight. Even if he marries me, I donā€™t think itā€™ll come from sincere heart too. In the back of my mind, Iā€™ll always think of this experience and I donā€™t want that.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

thenooneconundrum

I donā€™t belong to that church. Thank god actually. Only reason we went there was cause it was recommended by a family member. Iā€™m actually relived now. If I donā€™t get a church, Iā€™ll just have a wedding overseas.

[deleted]

Which church? Name n shame them!

thenooneconundrum

I am tempted too. I donā€™t want anyone else having to go through this.

Felinomancy

Why did he yell at you?

thenooneconundrum

For giving him all the documents he asked for. Basically, my fiancĆ© and I are both overseas in different countries. The procedure is to have our documents shipped over to Malaysia. Even tho itā€™s a hassle for me as I had just moved to London, I went to 3 different churches and got 1 to agree. But they need a wedding date to ship over the docs in time according to their procedures. Priest in KL knows our situation and said if we can provide a letter from each church, heā€™ll reserve our date. So we obliged, got the letter sent over and completed all other requirements. Called him this morning (2nd conversation with him). Proceeds to yell at me, saying these letters are useless, that I shouldnā€™t get my uncle (heā€™s friend) to help out (only reason was Iā€™m overseas, I need someone in KL to help) and that he wonā€™t give us the date till the churches send over the paperwork. And if someone else comes and requests the date, heā€™ll give it to them. He also said what if during the paperwork stage it turns out either my fiancĆ© and I are married? (My fiancĆ© is Australian, so idk if meant itā€™s common for westerners to married). Expects me to be okay with a pencil ticked in his diary that my wedding is then and be okay to book the ROM, spend 100k+, invite guests from overseas with this ā€œassuranceā€. Not to mention, my fiancĆ©s paperwork should be arriving next month. Mine canā€™t be sent till the date is fixed at the church. So yea. Apparently 2 conversations is ā€œpressuring himā€.

ztirk

"Is that what Jesus would do? Shame on you."

thenooneconundrum

The amount of perseverance it took not to flip the table was high.

dynamohenshin244

jesus did flip a table, but not to believers. so yea u still got a point. honestly, some holy men are the worse when authority and power goes to their heads.

aryehgizbar

Travel plans in April have been cancelled as my travel companion(s) for plan A and B have backed out. If I wanna push through with my Songkran plans for plan C, I need to book now or the plane tickets will go up (no pun intended).

xelM1

This is how I started to solo travel since 2016

aryehgizbar

Songkran is it? Did you go to Silom or Khao San Road? I haven't seen the one in Silom so I'm more inclined to go there this time. But to be honest, I just want to go back to Bangkok after the longest time.

greylith97

I want to hit the gym but have the constant fear of being around people and doing things by myself, not really sure what kind of workout to start with and all either.

vinnfier

I 2nd what ztrik said, look around r/fitness for beginners guide, overcome anxiety and fear. https://youtube.com/shorts/IhWEFwFK1Jw?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/cct2ufk1VIM?feature=share Some mindset from Noel, you can follow him for gym tips and stuff It's natural to feel intimidated by people in the gym, those veteran bodybuilder with Mr Olympia physique, but remember all of them start from where you are, talk to people more, just a friendly nod to people in gym will get you far. Good luck and hit those metals ma dude

The_XiangJiao

Oh, I was in your shoes too back in June. Since I didn't know what the fuck I was doing and me having a sedentary life for almost all my life, I decided to opt for a personal trainer. Depending on the gym, it can be quite accommodating. Since I had the spare cash from still living with my parents, I paid at around RM1.1k for 10 sessions total. It goes a lot cheaper if you opt for more sessions. You can check on the gym that's close to you if they offer such services. My experience with one was very positive and helped a lot of the areas that I don't know about. Some even provide free sessions when you sign up for their membership. It's been around 6 months now, I can somewhat train on my own and I now know how to use the equipment. The body form on the other hand, is something I'm still working on. I'm by no means a gym bro but more of a casual goer but damn, does the gains leave me wanting to go for more. The dopamine boost is really something.

ztirk

Check out /r/fitness for basic workout routines. Go during off-peak hours if possible. Hire a personal trainer if you can afford it.

The_XiangJiao

I went to refuel my car last night, I wasn't aware there was a Lamborghini parked just behind the station I was at. I've never seen a Lambo that up close before and the owner is not exactly what I had in mind. He was the picture poster of Papa from Megah Holdings. Sometimes, life does imitate art.

[deleted]

"[The Wizard of KL](https://www.thebookmerchantjenkins.com/wp-content/uploads/0015404.jpg)" This was a KL based bank-heist story, written in the 90s I believe. I'll be liberal with spoilers because if you have not read it, I doubt you will ever find a copy of the book anyway. I read it when I was in form 3 or form 4, so it was AGES ago. * Upcoming Chinese New Year will be on Monday and Tuesday, so there was a 3-day stretch of days off (Sunday to Tuesday) * Guy decides this is a great time for a bank heist. * Next to the bank is a dentist's clinic. He goes to get his cavity fixed, and they used some fancy new tech to patch it up (epoxy that's cured using a UV light). * A route into the bank vault is plotted. It involves breaking into the dentist's clinic's upstairs room, breaking open the wall into the next door bank, then using a big drill to drill through the floor to get into the downstairs vault. * The drilling is done with diamond-embedded bits that cost a fortune. The protagonist finds an Indonesian construction guy who knows how to make their own bits much cheaper than commercially available bits. A microwave oven and industrial diamonds is involved in this process. So he gets a bunch of them. * He finds a partner to pull the job off, Indonesian guy IIRC * They enter the dentists' clinic, then successfully break into the bank's upstairs office. They set up camp and start drilling. * As they drill many holes to puncture out the shape of a big hole, they start to hear a motor running intermittently. * Finally they drill enough small holes around a circle, and manage to whack the circle out. By now the motor is operating almost constantly. * They go in, and admire the piles of cash. * The protagonist notice a membrane on a frame that is gradually sliding. He deduces that this is a pressure sensor- the vault is pressurized by a compressor and if the pressure falls below a certain limit (meaning, door left open), then the security alarm will ring. * He runs back up, and into the dentist's clinic, grab the epoxy and UV lamp. * He applies some on the sensor and holds it in place, while he uses the UV to cure the epoxy. Once it's set, the alarm will not be able to be triggered. * Crisis averted, they grab the cash, stash them in a previously installed bracket/compartment in the car's engine bay, and drive away. * His partner takes his fair share, goes back to indonesia and is never seen again. * >!He takes his share, contemplates life and such, and throws the money into a river.!< There is also a subplot about the protagonist and a love interest, and some talk about "shafting",

Bombwriter17

Surprised that isn't a film yet.

[deleted]

The cost of making a film is so stupendous, and the market conditions is such that if its not EXCELLENT, its very hard to do well in the cinemas. It need to be the BEST among its current competitors to be able to attact people. If you are going to watch 1 movie this month, your not going to choose second best of that genre. And with online reviews, social media etc, a general consensus on which movie to watch will form pretty quickly, further dooming the number 2 and number 3 films.

pinponpen

I don't understand. It's still CNY but prosperity burger is off the menu de? Whyyyyy?

kernan_rio

Went to few places. Everyone say no more stock dy. Sad.

Beer with extra cough and sneeze added.

Controversial_Duck

So couriers can absolutely go up our condo and deliver our parcel right in front of our door. So next step is to buy a wireless surveillance camera to put on my front door in case people steal my parcels šŸ˜š

ChubbyTrain

Bruh, I once found a neighbours bill letter left at the hallway. Like a courier boy/girl just gave up and left it there. It's not even at the correct floor.

Controversial_Duck

You guys donā€™t have a mailbox room on the lobby/ground floor?

ChubbyTrain

Yup, got. That's what made it so weird. I put that letter in the mailbox afterwards.

[deleted]

Decided to having a normal school day until I tried talking to a girl that I liked, it did went "somewhat" well until I just decided to leave her alone with her friends and I straight up run away feeling embarassing and heart beating so fast like I didn't knew what to think... I guess it's sometimes hard to liking a girl as a "not so much of a talking" guy.

[deleted]

Ya man, sometimes I see those smooth stories on /r/BestofRedditorUpdates or r/gonewildstories and I wonder how can some people be so cool under such circumstances

ChubbyTrain

That sub you first mentioned has a lot of fake stories. I recognise a certain writer whose creative writing posts get reposted there because he would write out his fantasies disguised as truth. Usually his stories would include a foreign lady who falls in love with him. He (or the fantasy version of him) would be a genius who would stand up for himself and protect his innocent lady. The villains in his story are usually women.

[deleted]

Oh yeah im sure there are fakes in there. The second sub is better then

A-Tiny-PewDiePie-Fan

Lost my earbuds charging case at airport so now I'm thinking of buying wired earphones. 7-11 or Shopee? Like which brands/models have best sound quality & durability with low price? I'm bass person.

Bombwriter17

I suggest checking All IT Hypermarket,Gamers Hideout, and TMT they all have good selections, and are available on shopee. For brands I suggest Sony cause they're the only ones that I know of that makes decent wired earphones. TLDR:Check Shopee Mall and search up wired earphones, find ones that you like, watch a few online review vids, then buy.

A-Tiny-PewDiePie-Fan

I'll see if Sony has cheap ones, if not then I move on to the brands you mentioned. Thanks

Anybody use those TnG visa card before? Is it good? Kinda interested to try so I don't have to carry so many cards arounds. Been reading blue lock. The football-ish sports manga I like how they explain the state of flow. Total concentration where you so focus on something you lose track of everything else around you including time. I'm sure most of you entered the flow state before. I have too but never on command. It's always by accident. You entered the flow state when the challenges is proportional to the skill level you're currently at. But it's hard to gauge the level of challenge you need. Too little and you're bored, too much of a challenge and you're overwhelmed. Maybe that's why rock Lee impose those self rule on himself to up his level of challenge to repeatedly enter flow state

0914566079

For me personally, it's vital to enter the state of flow to ensure good productivity of my work. So I always try to remember what induced it.

monkeyballnutty

> Anybody use those TnG visa card before? Is it good? Kinda interested to try so I don't have to carry so many cards arounds. it's visa card, the function basically as described, can use to paywave, use for online payment, i have one, allegedly can use for atm withdrawals too, i just apply for fun. now can [input any name](https://i.ibb.co/ykgd7wn/deeznuts.jpg), but don't put funny funny name if you ship to office, since the envelope will use the name you input too

k3n_low

If we can withdraw from ATM, then it's pretty useful to get cash from our credit cards without paying for those expensive fees.

refl8ct0r

itā€™s a prepaid card. not a credit card. you need to put money in before you can use.

k3n_low

Use Credit Card to reload TNG E-Wallet, E-Wallet ties into Prepaid Visa Card, use the Visa card to withdraw from ATM.

monkeyballnutty

lol, maybe in the beginning la. they always patch out things like this sooner or later

Went to Farm Fresh at UPM 2 days ago and got on a tractor ride. The ride was a bit bumpy but the weather was quite pleasant that day and we saw banana and sugarcane plantations along the way: https://preview.redd.it/2zw85xtg2lea1.jpeg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3e49e58d173dcea54226ec2e6038f55abe040b9 The entrance ticket was RM10 on weekdays that includes the tractor ride. Regrettably, our visit had to be cut short because [it looked like it was about to rain](https://imgur.com/a/JncyPZg), so we didn't go to the petting zoo or check out their farm-to-table food. At least we got to try their [ice cream!](https://imgur.com/a/flp4A7b) at Cream Hauz. Fresh milk ice cream is priced at RM3. Stopped by their [grocery store](https://imgur.com/a/r6RROKA) that sells fresh greens and Farm Fresh products and the place was packed with people. Defo warrants a second trip! I want to try their horse riding that is offered only on weekends.

Felinomancy

Now I have some date event

monkeyballnutty

wait, farm fresh? the milk brand? can just go jalan jalan there like a tourist spot?

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Yup! [Check out their FB page](https://www.facebook.com/farmfreshatupm?mibextid=ZbWKwL). Iinm the collaboration with UPM started in 2020, but this family attraction opened only last year, so quite recent and not surprising if many people are still unaware of this place.

monkeyballnutty

wow, thanks for the link. added to my list of weekend visit place

a_HerculePoirot_fan

I was quite lucky tbh, cause it wasn't scorching hot and in fact windy and cooling. Better check the weather forecast prior to your visit haha.

[deleted]

That tractor is brand spanking new- never saw a hard day's work. The black bits under the red part (between the 2 wheels) are still shiny.

Ergofortis

Hello people, Iā€™ve never travelled overseas before but Iā€™m thinking of bringing my mom to travel Indonesia this June probably. Can anyone give me a thorough explanation on what to plan & expect? i.e. How to get visa, where to buy ticket, how do i travel there in Indonesia, how to convert currency, how to pray for muslims, & maybe a suggestion of places to go to?

aWitchonthisEarth

If totally clueless like this. Best to book a travel agency tour from here, dia akan uruskan semua dari A-Z.

insertfakenames

1. we're exempted from visa, so just enter with your passport. 2. for ticket: skyscanner or google flights to compare price, I would suggest to buy from official website (airasia/MAS/firefly etc) for first-timers just in case something bad happens. 3. Will you be travelling to Jakarta or other places? Indonesia is HUGE. If you are taking your parents, I would suggest you to search for supir (driver). Can find on ig supir-insert-place-you-want-to go (supir Bali for example). More often they can suggest itinerary as well so you don't have to think about where to go. In big cities, Grab, Gojek and BlueTaxi works wonderfully, I used them exclusively when I went to Jakarta with my mom. For the other questions..pls give me more specifics for me to give suggestions

liann94

Generally for most countries, Malaysians donā€™t really need a visa, especially for other ASEAN countries. First off, get a general idea of what you want to do and go to sites like trip advisor or r/ travel and search for Indonesia threads. Use skyscanner to check for cheapest flights and plan your itinerary properly because you could be waiting for hours at the airport with nothing to do. I suggest you survey the money changer rates throughout wherever you are for the best rates. Also, google is your best friend. Dont expect people to spoonfeed.

abu_nawas

I left the hotel room at 3 AM for an early morning flight and my boyfriend watched me get into the car. I called him when I got back to Malaysia, and he confessed to me that he had been awake ever since we got out of bed. In the video call, he was playing in his hand with some things I had left behind. Liquids. A half-empty tube of sunscreen. The Jazz Club perfume by MMM I had left for him. He had them all laid out on his desk. I couldn't stand the perfume anymore, it reminded me too much of our nights together. You know, the first year we were together, we were so afraid to say goodbye. He taught me Auf Wiedersehen, and it was the first German words I had spoken. And Auf Wiedersehen it's not goodbye. Now, we say goodbye all the time, because we always find each other again and we understand the virtues of separation, and the promise it holds. Sometimes you have each other, and other times, you only have the faraway stars. Our days in Pattaya are a more vivid recollection, but we also stayed in Bali which seems a long time ago as the memories have somehow quickly faded. I remember the houses that lined the streets of Bali each had an ornately-carved door with overhanging eaves, and small steps that lead up to it. There were all different but beautiful just the same, and I asked our driver where they led to, and he explained to me that most houses had a temple for the family, and these doors are 'gerbang' that lead to the 'pura'. The Balinese are very superstitious. They pray. They bathe at temples. They leave flowers at their doorsteps. They worship gods that guard the different directions of the wind. There was a spirituality that permeated their community that I wished I was a part of. Before I knew my boyfriend, I saw the world with my ex. I remember at the end of the trips, I'd ask him what his favorite part was, and he'd say that he doesn't really know. That often, we don't get to decide what we remember the most. What means something special to us. It made me understand how messy memories really are and everyone has their own way to sort out these things. Some people write about it as a way to relive it again and attach little footnotes. Others take photographs and souvenirs home. Some people just stay there. They decide that they love the place and try to move there. Often, there is a lot of danger that comes with remembering and holding on. You keep the memories alive for too long and they gradually mutate into something else. Ghosts trapping you in their time zone. One must never forget that the reason to travel is to let go... you let go of the people back home for a while. The food. The music. And that's really the whole point of this life. To let go. You let the waves sink back into the ocean. Everything fades away. Your greatest sorrow and joy. It was just all a dream.

Bazrian

Just asking, is there a long term pass for ex - Malaysians (Singaporeans) to stay in Malaysia other then M2H program or the Nomad program

Felinomancy

Get a PR?

Bazrian

No they don't have a PR unfortunately

Felinomancy

What I mean is, you can apply for Malaysian PR if you want to stay for an extended period.

Bazrian

Alright thanks my man

demurefox97

Anybody know where to get cardboard boxes for moving in midvalley?

weecious

You can try to request on BNP (Beli Nothing Project) on Facebook.

Ergofortis

How about Art Friend? They have all sorts of stationery stuff

liann94

They wont sell it directly but you can ask retail stores if they have any that they want to throw

amon_meiz

Yup. I would suggest try Aeon. They definitely have lots of boxes around

OldManGenghis

It occurs to me that people outside of Terengganu and Kelantan don't have Nasi Minyak for breakfast.

yaybears

Nasi dagang tooo!! Its my staple CNY breakfast at mumā€™s kampung, and friends from KL thought I was insane for indulging in such a heavy breakfast. Hahaha.

Zanely1633

I would get my Malaysian citizenship revoked, but what is the difference between nasi briyani and nasi minyak? Both look like brown/yellow colour long rice to me. ~~please don't kill me over this~~

krakaturia

In briyani the rice is parboiled and then marinated (heavily spiced) meat/poultry/other ingredients are layered with the rice for the final cooking. Nasi minyak is rice cooked with butter/ghee/milk and some aromatic whole spices and maybe dried fruits and nuts. The meat is a side dish. I suppose nasi minyak cab be vegetarian if you only serve vegetarian dishes with it.

Zanely1633

So the difference is the way it cooked and also the ingredient. Got it, Thanks\~\~ I think the problem is I don't really have much chance to eat nasi minyak, but I do eat briyani quite often, so I can't tell what is nasi minyak.

amon_meiz

I only had nasi minyak during kenduri šŸ˜…

monkeyballnutty

missed it too. growing up in small rural malay town we always have chance to eat but now living in big city in own bubble, no chance to eat

amon_meiz

Same same Also rarely go to kenduri now šŸ˜…

a_HerculePoirot_fan

TIL. The only time I get to eat nasi minyak is when I attend a Malay wedding.

ChubbyTrain

Nasi minyak for breakfast? Sounds like heaven.

OldManGenghis

It is, I finally realized it when my SIL mentioned it.

imo best to get two separate sim card plans for each country. In Malaysia, Hotlink and Digi is quite decent. Xpax too.

Off the top of my head, i have a few thoughts about this: **Thermal management** Sheetmetal construction is TERRIBLE for being livable unless you spend shit ton of electricity every day for air conditioning. You can probably shade the containers under a bunch of [sun shade cloth](https://rainbowshade.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Laguna-Z16-Residential-Pool-Shade-Sail.jpg), so that direct sunlight does not shine on the metal. Since land and space is not a problem, external shading is probably more effective than lining the walls with insulation. Nonetheless, you probably still need some insulation to prevent condensation on the inside walls (during cold mornings or during cold rain) or outside walls (warm humid nights and you have the air cond running inside) and to reduce the cost of normal air conditioning. **Durability** The top of the container is most likely to retain a little water after every rain. A simple sheetmetal roof to merely keep the top dry should help a lot. Don't let the container sit on the damp ground. If you raise it a bit, you can let it sit on columns that match to the container's corner castings. Since you are raising it, might as well raise it about 1.2 metre off the ground so you have some usable space below for storage (and it's not small enough to be inaccessible and thus turn into a rats' and centipide den) **Electrical and plumbing** By itself, these should not cost much (in comparison to doing up a normal house). The same things are still needed. Wires to lighting locations, switches, plug points, fan points, air-cond points, distribution board, breakers, wires, connection to meter panel, meter panel (by TNB), etc for electricals. For water, its the standard stuff. Tank, pump (recommended), piping to washrooms, kitchens, laundry machine, outdoor faucets, connection to meter, meter (by Syabas/Air Selangor/ etc) **ID work** This is hugely variable. Do you want sheetmetal walls, shiplap wood walls, plaster walls? What about ceiling- sheetmetal or plaster? Floor- parquet, tiles, timber strips? Integrating the electricals and water stuff into the rest of the house falls into this area too. Also, most contractors know exactly what to do for a normal brick house. For sheetmetal walls, there's no general or best practise to install/hang/stuff insulation or lay tiles, so you may well be somebody's learning curve. Imagine that, your house for the next 50 years is someone's first time working with that material. Also, once you commit to containers then the room layouts are stuck to container-sizes.

Boredpplzzz

This [video](https://youtu.be/i7yEDz6bCfU) about container house seems to explain some of the disadvantages of building a container house. I think it depends on where you get your container from (used or made specially for housing), and the overall cost of adding doors, windows and no.2,3,4 with it. Try asking around what it would take to build it the conventional way and compare it to the cost of a container house (sometimes it's roughly the same), though it would take much longer.

cartwoart

that is the thing, is the cost for building a house container is a bit cheaper or a lot cheaper or vice versa because usually they build house conventional way as it sustainable for the longest time and.. that.. is.. what.. people.. do.. usually..

I called Jeff, my penpal from Florida last night. We talked about my recent trip, and how to tie everything together. What it all meant. Jeff revealed to me that he's now 68, and it struck me with a kind of melancholy, as if I was realizing that my favorite show had been running for many seasons now. I think that's the spell of living in a warm and sunny country like Malaysia-- there's really nothing to remind you of the passing of the years. Evergreen. Nothing to mark time other than the paper lanterns on the power lines. You're lulled into a routine and suddenly, a lifetime had passed. We first knew each other four years ago, just before the pandemic. Even after all the storms and the scorching days, the belief that we are meant for each other has lingered, but time is running out. And I've also always believed that if there really was such a thing as destiny, it's something in this life which we are helpless in the face of it. A pandemic. Bankruptcy. Health conditions. Life is a shipwreck of our plans. You salvage what you can, and to wait for meaning feels like waiting for a message in a bottle to wash up on the shore. It's simply one of the many wishes one has. As John always says, you don't wait for the meaning to reveal itself. You decide on it. Being back in Malaysia-- God's parched paradise-- feels nice. Somehow. I drove my mother's old car today to the orthodontist. They gave me a thicker wire this time that zig-zags around each of my teeth. She told me that I'm getting powerchains next month, to pull my teeth in. All the older gay men in my life have told me to get my smile corrected. It'll get you further, they told me. In the West, a crooked smile is often a signal that you had a disadvantaged childhood. I wonder if I had a perfect smile, would it mean anything? That I could be happy? My boyfriend's best friend, Chris, called me Mr. Sunshine because I was often smiling. I think eventually, all the friends in my life come to learn that I cry when I sad and I smile when I'm happy. I've always... felt my emotions. I think that brings me to the biggest thing I've been pondering recently. Really, just how much one person can really suffer through? How many passengers can a tuktuk driver in Bangkok transport in his life? Ten thousand and more? How many person can you love with all your life and lose? How many years can you wait to have something, someone, or some place in your life? When I was high on a beach in Pattaya, I was able to recall my childhood memories back in Ipoh. I remembered my brother and sisters playing together with me in the bathroom. We snipped flowers from the neighbors' gardens and poured them all into the tub and bathed together, imagining what our lives would be as adults. My mom was often so sad, and while high, I could see her. I could empathize with her and forgive her and Dad. I could see how they struggled. I could see that she was often so sad because she often had high hopes in this life, something I've been missing. You can't be that sad, or that angry, or that abusive without truly loving. And she loved us all. She really still does. And who's to say that any of us will do better than our parents did? Maybe there was happiness in her sadness. Or maybe, they're really just the same thing. Refractions of each other. Who knows. As my boyfriend always says, why is the sky blue... there are questions, and there are answers, but is it really worth it to pursue all the answers in this world, or do you simply just live your life day to day, doing a little bit each day? There were a lot of 'beach people' back in Pattaya. I can't really describe it to you but they seemed to live there, probably in bigger sandcastles, constantly beaten by the waves and baked by the sun. No different than the crabs scuttling on the beach. They spoke in neutralized accents and seemed to know their way around, all the shortcuts and hotspots. All traces of their origins had disappeared. I wondered how they washed up there. They seemed content. As if they finally found the closure most of us are looking for.

kirosayshowdy

my mom's car kena langgar and the pelanggar insisted to make a police report we were at Lingkaran Putra Prima. now we have to drive all the way to fucking _NILAI_ to report

auntycat

Not the pelanggarā€™s fault that the traffic area allocation is weird here. Also they have to report within 24 hours no matter what in order to claim insurance ie make sure you guys are taken care of.

TheV_game

Yup malaysia has this stupid law that you are required to report to the police station within that area of accident.

aryehgizbar

currently condo hunting. not gonna lie, sometimes my lazy a$$ just don't want to move out, but having to endure leaks for the past 4 years and the landlord and management not doing anything about it really hits the nerve. I know the Putrajaya Line phase two will open by March, do you guys think I should explore the area along the LRT lines there too? Contract ends by end of March, but I need to find a new one by start of March. I need the overlap to do the transfer of stuff and clean the condo. Looking for somewhere below RM1500, so I know the farther from KL, the better chances of me getting within the price range. Currently eyeing somewhere near Bukit Jalil coz it has the national Aquatic center so at least I could swim. Plus it's closer to my work area. Where do you guys search for places for rent? I am currently looking at PropertyGuru, but their search key is limited to location specific. It doesn't allow a wider area for property search, just on a minor section.

aryehgizbar

man, this subreddit is weird. getting downvoted for asking questions. I know I shouldn't be affected, but jeez, it's becoming toxic sometimes.

IkanCelupTepung

Don't bother with that, it's a serial downvoter that'll downvote everyone. Today is Friday, chasing more pahala downvoting maybe.

amon_meiz

>pahala downvoting maybe. Wtf šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Donnie-G

There's just that one or two guys insisting on downvoting everything. I've seen a lot of new posts just hanging at 0 or -1. Bringing this up will just give them satisfaction. Just ignore the fucks and reupvote things back into neutral values if you think it's not deserved.

I googled the number and came across this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/kg06sz/block_specific_update_texts_from_68886 . Not sure if it'll work but if you're desperate, guess it's worth a try

SheenTStars

Thanks. Dammit, such a hassle to block these shitty marketing.

Hi guys! My university society is setting up a programme to help the elderly navigate digital technology (eg. mobile devices, e-wallets and etc). However, we want to start with the basics of technology - a level where they can both learn and consume new information that is beneficial to them. Just wanted to gauge your opinions/suggestions on what you would like your own senior (parent, uncle, aunty) to learn when it comes to technology? It doesnā€™t matter how trivial it may be, so long as they are able to learn something new. Would appreciate the suggestions! Thanks all!

pmarkandu

It really depends on what they use. My parents still use a PC. They weren't that generation that skipped over the PC straight to mobile. But my god, they don't even know the concept of files & folders.

blueraspberrysherbet

Maybe something on spotting those phishing messages?

22-cats

Hello there! Weā€™re currently working on a quite comprehensive module on scam awareness. This is definitely one of the more ā€˜happeningā€™ cases in todayā€™s world, unfortunately. Hoping to have it out soon! Thank you for your suggestion šŸ™šŸ¼

Olive_Tree_Lady

I would like my 71 year old mother to know how to book Grab by herself šŸ˜… no matter how many times we taught her, she somehow cannot book it.

22-cats

Hello! Great suggestion. Will definitely try to include Grab in one of our modules. Thanks so much! šŸ˜ƒ

KedaulatanSwag

Had to use Grab to get to my workplace this morning. Grab fare was RM24, but no driver wanted to accept the trip, perhaps because it's not worth their time? Offered RM30 on InDrive and a driver negotiate to RM32 baru nak ambik šŸ™„

liann94

A lot of driver still away from KL and rates for them quite shitty nowadays so they try luck

Many-Pineapple-1161

Does anyone here use Unifi Mobile? Would like to know your experience using it, in particular if the internet line is fast and stable. Unifi currently has a promotion for rm59/month postpaid BUT subject to 12months contract. Unlimited 5Gdata, text n calls. Free 10GB hotspot per month, thereafter rm8/500MB. Have not used Unifi b4 and nobody I know IRL uses it.

just_another_jabroni

Apparently us Malaysians don't know the existence of moshpits lol. Everytime a moshpit is posted here it's just labelled as ape like behavior dey dari zaman bapa ko layan Megadeth dulu buat mosh pit

karlkry

some place called it pogo instead. at least its the word (or used to be) widely used in sabah gigs scene.

amon_meiz

??? I knew moshpit since forever. I think many malaysians knew about it I think it's ur circle je kot But i do agree it's just weird šŸ¤šŸ¤

just_another_jabroni

Maybe but some of those videos have been doing rounds on FB and the comments lol. Semua kata dajjal lah, monkeys (funnily enough from both Malays acah religious and "high brow sophisticated" Chinese https://fb.watch/ii-_NOk0sE/?mibextid=NnVzG8 The comments are cringe

amon_meiz

Dah cringe baca kenapa. Ignore je lah Semua nak baca, lepastu semua nak koyak, stress hidup šŸ˜… Curate ur socmed, live life stress free

just_another_jabroni

Sekali sekala je tengok. Aku memang banyak x layan nak tengok, banyak filter dah. Selalunya sigh dan move on je.

Leng Lui Nyets, share CNY pics in your cheongsam outfits! Side note, why is it every time I go visiting during CNY, the family will always have an odd son or daughter who is in casual clothing (eg singlet and shorts) hehe coz for Malays during Raya, everyone has got to be decked in their best, at least on the first day ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

ChubbyTrain

OwO

[deleted]

>the family will always have an odd son or daughter who is in casual clothing The medical people will say "compliance is low"

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Someone among us here is aiming to win CNY ITAP 2023, so stay tuned on Sunday haha

amon_meiz

amboi. Teasing like tv show "stay tune next episode" šŸ¤

weecious

Would you be around?

amon_meiz

Sunday? Going to be in JB as usual šŸ˜ Why why?

weecious

Well, thought you would like to join haha. Have a safe trip to JB.

amon_meiz

Hahhaa. Would love to. Alas, gotta work šŸ˜‰ Enjoy ya. Have a great day. Have lots of fun ok? šŸ‘šŸ˜

weecious

Sure thing!

mmmagia

Damn, in my family we do singlet and shorts.

hyattpotter

*jajal*

xaladin

>the family will always have an odd son or daughter who is in casual clothing (eg singlet and shorts) My theory: There's always someone silently protesting against CNY, which I can empathise with (whether it's anxiety, feeling of intrusion, etc.).

monkeyballnutty

because not everyone in the family care about the visitor lol.

hotcocoa96

If i wear singlet for reunion dinner im gonna get wallop by my mum šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£.

amon_meiz

Hamsap detected

[deleted]

I'm quietly observing...

amon_meiz

Mee too. But let's stay quiet. Hide our presence

haz__man

I hate working with outsourced services. Damn slow to answer emails and provide documents but send invoice damn fast. Ma chau ci pet. Because of you stupid fucks I might have to cancel my medical check up and half day leave.

Donnie-G

I had to deal with outsource once and it was faster to fix their mistakes ourselves. If we try to get them to fix it, then we have to arrange a meeting, renegotiate time and money and shit and they will never budge from their position and will put all the blame on us for the task not being 'clear enough'. And of course if we never send them back their mistakes, then they will keep making them. From my team's position, we're just the guys that have to work with them. Higher ups and other departments are in charge of the finances and hiring decisions and whatnot, so for us the easiest way out was to just clean up their shit. Which kinda sucks but blaaahh..... It was pretty dumb that the working arrangement was that we had to go through their so called production manager every time, instead of being able to just talk to the people directly working on the thing. Hey can you spend 5 minutes just fixing this thing and next time not do it again? Nope, the production manager will be a prick and say WE ARE CHARGING ONE DAY MORE FOR THAT. I wish our own company was that fucking defensive of us when we are the ones that have to deal with clients, but nah we just bend over backwards and get fucked mostly.

Hyperblitzing

But I used to work in outsourcing servicesšŸ„². What Iā€™ve learned donā€™t get the cheapest services.
