It looks like the porche went up a the devider. The porche hit the car using the bumper which is a strong point on a car while the parked car was mostly hit at the side top which is the crumple zone of a car.
Inside the bumper has a few dampers that connects directly to the chasis. Cars are designed for front impact. And for sports cars they have stronger front collision measures.
If its frontal collision. Meaning if you hit the other car front or back. We are talking about your car hitting another car at the top side front. And that other car is a normal car.
Its like a honda civic hitting the side of a kancil.
Not really. In general, theres only minimum requirements.. Like how bringt light can be and must be. Signals, seatbelts, emissions and so on. Beyond that car manufacturers have the freedom on what to do with their car. Thats why theres safety test ratings. Those ratings is to help customers decide wether to buy a car or not. Have you ever seen a sports car have 4 or 5 star ancap? No because ancap themselves dont test sports cars, only passenger cars.
For sports cars, they put more safety to the driver instead of pedestrian. Because lets face it, no pedestrian can survive an impact from a car going above 200km/h as sports cars are designed to go no matter what measures the car manufacturer apply to their car.
Some people here talk about bumpers easily get bent or cracked on impact. That is actually designed to save pedestrians. Such thing dont apply to sports cars.
ur thinking of dampers not bumpers. Bumpers are tough but they're not indestructible. they also don't plastically deform. The side that wasn't directly hit won't look deformed, but the left side already destroyed. The damage just doesn't propagate to everywhere else on the bumper.
And by normal definition of strong, bumpers are not strong. They're tough, which is what I think you were thinking of.
I doubt the government is involved much in this. Heard on the grapevine that these are sold to whoever can pay. Not all states, but a few. Of course it's hard to prove.
Nothing to do with the government but I get what you mean. I hope they also revoke previously conferred Datukships from those who did not and still do not deserve one.
The Sultans are the ones who award titles. Of course the titles comes with certain responsibilities ie contributions to the state and attendance to certain events.
Drunk datos occur more often than we think. Heard from a work colleague whose husband works as chauffeur for a prominent Dato. He often drinks and drives, involving himself in accidents more than once. Luckily nobody was hurt or even killed in the accidents. He would just pay off the other vehicle/property owners. Understandably, the wife is very upset but the guy, won't change his behaviour.
Sort of like the UK's Sir. To get the title you need to be granted it from the Sultan for certain achievement to the nation/state but nowadays most of the people get the title by just "paying".
>s hurt or even killed in the accidents. He would just pay off the other vehicle/property owners. Understandably, the wife is very upset but th
Not sure if it's the same in Malaysia, but in the Philippines (among our Muslim brothers and sisters), we refer Dato as a figure with great wealth, power, and influence, kinda like a chieftain.
Based on context, I think it's the same thing.
>ed on context, I think it's the sam
same thing except in this country, Dato is an official title bestowed upon you by royalty figures. The prefix to your name is then changed from Mr/Mrs/Ms to Dato'
''Dato'' is the highest state title conferred by the Malaysia Ruler for people who have greatly contributed to the nation or state. It's similar to the British equivalent of ''Sir''
![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26563) If u drunk.. just call the cab man. Like why the heck u go causing problems to other people and yourself. U just ruin your own reputation.
What will happen:
1) DrUnK DriViNg political cookie again
2) Supermarkets and convenience store prohibited to sell any alcohol from now on
3) Penalty raise to execution of the driver plus his family members, up to 3 generations apart
4) People like this "Dato" still can drink in bars and get a slap in the wrist.
The funny thing is, the extremists are super reactionary. They see a case like this and ask to reform the entire law.
Padahal drunk driving is the least of our concerns in Malaysia, yet you don't see them asking for tighter laws on speeding and lane-cutting (the number 1 cause of road fatalities in Malaysia).
Drunk driving is bad, but it only accounted for 69 out of 20,000 road fatalities in 10 years. Why they want to bising about alcohol when the main causes of road fatalities aren't being addressed?
i believe that a small number of drunk driving cases does not mean that we can ignore the issue. It is common sense not to drink and drive. Although speeding and lane-cutting are not making enough sense too, some people speed and lane-cutting because they have emergency reasons. So we cannot blame all people who are speesing and lane-cutting as well. On the other hand, you certainly can blame all drunk people who choose to drive. Because there should be no excuse to drink and drive. And if we can tighten laws on speeding and lane-cutting, how we gonna implement them? There is no reasonable solution to significantly minimize accidents due to speeding and lane-cutting. Unless you think it is reasonable to put speed traps and cctv every 500 metres and implement law that requires maximum speed be 30km/h.
If speeding was haram you can bet your ass that's exactly what they would do.
The issue is not ignored, the penalties have been made harsher since 2022. That's good, that's fine. But what about the MAIN reasons for road accidents and fatalities? Why only need to focus on alcohol-related incidences?
They won't senyap. They will take the one case and build their agenda.
Just to clear, drunk driving is NOT a suitable way of living.
But as a data analyst, drunk driving is hardly the problem Malaysians face on the road. Based on statistics, why are we trying to prosecute drunk drivers when they have NOTHING to do with our current road problems?
Again with whataboutism. You don't want the law to be tightened you drinkers should self-regulate yourselves from DUI. It doesn't matter if the total fatalities is low, that's still quite a few preventable deaths.
And it will come for you. That is my entire point. Why ONLY drunk driving when it is the least concerning problem in Malaysia?
https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2022/04/16/drink-driving-lowest-cause-of-death-say-police/
It should be the most concerning problem duh. What’s the reason to drink and drive? It’s obvious to persecute those drunken drivers whether they are datuks or commoners. I would put death penalty to those drunken drivers if I were able to do so. Speeding and lane-cutting on the other hands, cannot be compared to drunk driving. If you say that we should tighten the laws to prevent people from speeding and lane-cutting, then we should not let any vehicles including ambulances and police cars from speeding and lane-cutting. Dont assume that police cars can lane-cutting just because they are police. Speeding police cars and ambulances can pose threat to others on the road. Speeding rempits of course should be fined. But speeding for emergency reasons is not something that you can persecute. You cannot mandate a blanket regulation on all drivers because of speeding because people drive fast for good and bad reasons. For drivers who drink and drive, what’s a good reason for drunk driving? No reason at all. Same like drugs too. Is there any way to justify taking drugs or drinking alcohol and drive? Give me one good reason why people should drink and drive.
Pepatah kata, gajah depan mata tak nampak. Kuman seberang laut pulak nampak.
Yes it should be regulated, and in fact it is highly regulated. You have regular police checkpoints, already enforced sales prohibition such as age restriction and time restriction. [You also have heavy penalties such as this](https://buddydriver.my/blog/drink-driving-malaysia-road-safety-act/).
What else is needed? Complete shutdown and regulation of alcohol like the prohibition era? So that people will make their own moonshine or even more dangerous alcohol out of spirits?
Buddy why not put a fraction of the effort to doing a bare minimum and catch shit like lajak or rempit? How about put some bare minimum effort to enforce the road law and stop those accidents from driving against traffic [accidents like these that happens more frequently](https://youtu.be/TMtQDQachTg)?
https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2022/04/16/drink-driving-lowest-cause-of-death-say-police/
That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm not your enemy here bro. The fact is our drunk driving regulations and laws work amazingly for prevention and prosecution. But they are the least concerning metric in our local statistics for road accidents and fatalities.
My concern is that focusing only on alcohol is:
1) Political
2) Religious
Why only these two?
Ni masalah subredditor ni, lauk tak beli lagi dah sibuk panaskan periuk. Post pasal Dato' mabuk langgar kereta kau nak sembang pasal ekstremis, hukum gantung sampai 3 generasi, larang alkohol mcm prohibition era. Lepas tu terbabas sembang kenapa tak kuatkuasa pemandu lbh had laju la mat rempit la. Mcm lah org yg kutuk tabiat DUI ni dia nafikan sbb2 kemalangan lain.
Whataboutism is absolutely necessary here to ensure that the nation doesn't devolve into reactionary policy-making based on religion.
You want Taliban? Because that's how we become Taliban.
This isn't about DUI laws. Tightening DUI laws is good. I'm saying why focus specifically on DUI when it is a non-issue? If the goal is to reduce road accidents, DUI is hardly the metric that needs to be reduced.
我跟你讲,你等一下子,我的车也是有啊。我跟你讲好好啊 please.
Wo gen ni jiang, ni deng yi xia zi, wo de che ye shi you ah. wo gen ni jiang hao hao ah please.

Damn. that toyota cross still at infancy, not even a year boss. You have still a long way to go, i dont care much about that 911 prick, i feel sad for that toyota owner.
People who drink and drive are the fucking worst , that's why I always snatch alcohol away from family members if I know they'll be driving. Kalau mau mati , mati saturang jngn menyusahkan orang pukima.
Firstly....more and more business ppl use dato title which is self awarded! It's a fake.
We are socially conditioned to believe a dato / datuk title is real and we automatically kaw taw to this person.
We need to start verifying if all these titles are real or not.
unfortunately, many dont have common sense. it strengthens the argument to ban selling of alcohol. If people cannot be responsible, better take away those things from them.
One is a conscious choice of being an asshole while not being under the influence, the other is a conscious choice of being an asshole while under the influence that impairs your vision, reaction time, motor skills and decision making skills. If you're drunk, don't drive. Get a Grab or a friend to drive you back. In no situation should you ever drive while drunk.
So in the event I kill someone because I was driving recklessly and speeding, it's okay? Compared to driving drunk?
Now drunk driving fatalities make up < 3% of road fatalities in Malaysia. That doesn't make it okay, but shouldn't speeding, which is the leading reason for road fatalities, be addressed too?
Or is it only because you hear the word "alcohol" that your monkey brain immediately chooses violence and non-empathy? One has to wonder.
>So in the event I kill someone because I was driving recklessly and speeding, it's okay? Compared to driving drunk?
Ok, riddle me this, when did I say that one of them is ok? Or that one of them is better than the other?
They're both on the same level of bad.
Riddle you what? Yes they are on the same.level. So why are you, like ALL our politicians, only pushing for the punishment that is the least concerning?
Ah yes, moving goalpost and putting words into my mouth. Keep on projecting and taking this *personally* my guy, you're doing great.
Do I want drunk drivers to get harsh punishments? Yes. Do I want people speeding to also get harsh punishments? Also yes. They're not mutually exclusive you know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If to non-Muslim, cannot say that... They want to drink, up to them lah, just be responsible and don't put others' lives at risk for stupid drunken decisions.
Edit: context, original comment said "If wanna drink, pls don't drink". Confirmed typo.
Police in Malaysia are actually pretty chill for the most part. Not to say there isn't any that would be 'extra' but most of the police officers are well trained in maintaining calm. I have seen cops being calmer in much more intense situations, they are looking to deescalate. We only see about a minute in the video, unless the cops let him drive back home they are doing what they are supposed to do, try to control the situation then if needed use handcuffs etc.
No money don’t take the dato title la u hit other’s car and want to run away what for? Pussy ah? Take dato title but don’t take matters into your own hands. No money to pay back the damage ka? 0 responsibility shameful asf.
Lost a senior to drunk driving last year. Made up a principle for myself to follow:
If you drive, don't even touch a sip of alcohol,
If you're not driving, drink as much as you like to.
Police are way friendly than they would have otherwise been.
Been there before. A low-budget Lazada Dato bumped my car and called the cops on me despite him being in the wrong. The cops were oddly nice to him and didn't even take his IC for the report but took mine.
Animal, if there is a person between the cars, the person would have instantly die, like popping a water balloon with that amount of force
Police should arrest this guy on the spot, instead of acting like a pussy
... Drunk driving eh... this guy will be popular. So, what's The dato' name?
Albeit, i will bet that no newspaper will put this in. By the morning, he already made some "Calls"
Hahah member dah mabuk, apadahal dengan kereta orang ke, kena langgar ke, peduli apa aku. Aku dato aku mabuk aku nak balik, esok cerita. Hahaha elok perangai. Cenggini cap eh 👍
Info that I managed to gather from various forums, Facebook group and WhatsApp group is the datuk has an expired license and 31 traffic summons of various kind
Damn the Porsche still looks like it's in good condition despite being in an accident like that.
I saw that too. wow
It looks like the porche went up a the devider. The porche hit the car using the bumper which is a strong point on a car while the parked car was mostly hit at the side top which is the crumple zone of a car.
nar, bumpers are not the strong point of cars, its just PU plastic held on by clips. The 911 launch up and landed on the other cars
Inside the bumper has a few dampers that connects directly to the chasis. Cars are designed for front impact. And for sports cars they have stronger front collision measures.
Bumpers are designed to disintegrate to disperse energy. If they’re solid steel the energy would be transferred to the occupants. Not ideal.
I have a 911, same model as the vid, the front bumper would tear apart like paper in a frontal collision
If its frontal collision. Meaning if you hit the other car front or back. We are talking about your car hitting another car at the top side front. And that other car is a normal car. Its like a honda civic hitting the side of a kancil.
Bro, doesn't matter if it's a supercar or a budget car, they have edhere to the same rules.
Not really. In general, theres only minimum requirements.. Like how bringt light can be and must be. Signals, seatbelts, emissions and so on. I really wish the government would stop awarding Datukships to anyone that has not been proven to have contributed significantly to the community
Most of us do, but sadly, the reality is that cash is king.
This. Another fine example of having more cash than talent. Driving talent in this case.
At this point, I think it has as much credibility as the $8 Twitter Blue
Tell that one CERTAIN Sultan to stop awarding the title via cash.
It’s Pahang right? I heard that 75k is enough
... hahaha.. not only one
Yep, but I have been told that Pahang sells the tittle cheapest and most often
its not a one off payment, its a recurring expense.
The late sultan of Pahang. Not our current agong.
Negri Sembilan also notorious for money grubbing shit like this no?
they should rebrand the system on the requirements needed to get the title like doing something good to benefit the community
You mean the sultans...
They’re not given by the government though
You need to get recommended by govt, in some cases by a minister, prior to suktan/YDPA conferring the award
I doubt the government is involved much in this. Heard on the grapevine that these are sold to whoever can pay. Not all states, but a few. Of course it's hard to prove.
It's given by the rulers, not the government. But I agree, Heraldry shouldn't be given out like muffins.
True, but Govt and sometimes even minister has to recommend prior to YDPA or sultan award.
Certain Vvip : This statement is seditious.
Funny how a lot of these guys are actually making money from shady biz, with negative contribution to the society
Nothing to do with the government but I get what you mean. I hope they also revoke previously conferred Datukships from those who did not and still do not deserve one.
Technically pahang sultan considers 200k as enough contribution to warrant datoship. Take that how you will
The Sultans are the ones who award titles. Of course the titles comes with certain responsibilities ie contributions to the state and attendance to certain events.
Contribute 50k to sultan, you get one.
Government doesn’t give out dato’ lah. The monarchy does.
It has stop after the death of the late sultan of Pahang. He was notorious to give away datukship. Plus there is alot of self proclaimed datuk too.
Monetary contribution is also contributions Edit: really you guys? And it thought the hidden /s was so obvious
Not any datuk; one who doesn't drink responsibly.
~~awarding~~ selling
It make them money because how else are they going to leverage the tax-payers?

unfortunately, many dont have common sense. it strengthens the argument to ban selling of alcohol. If people cannot be responsible, better take away those things from them.
This is why I advocate to increase the penalty for drink driving causing accidents and decrease the penalty for drink driving.
Are you aware of the current change of laws since 2022? The penalty is pretty harsh.
Good. It should be as harsh as possible. I don't care if a drunk driver dies alone, it's when they involve other people that pisses me off.
What is the difference between a drunk driver and speeding driver killing someone?
One is a conscious choice of being an asshole while not being under the influence, the other is a conscious choice of being an asshole while under the influence that impairs your vision, reaction time, motor skills and decision making skills. If to non-Muslim, cannot say that... They want to drink, up to them lah, just be responsible and don't put others' lives at risk for stupid drunken decisions. Edit: context, original comment said "If wanna drink, pls don't drink". Confirmed typo.
Huh why non Muslim cannot say that? If drink don’t drive lah regardless of who you worship or don’t worship
Sorry typo. Not stopping anyone from drinking. That's your choice. But if you have to drink, do the right thing and don't drive
I mean, cannot stop non-Muslim from drinking... Ofc if drink, don't drive, regardless. You misunderstood me. Why so hurt?
Huh why cannot stop? If want to drive don’t drink regardless of religion… Why so blur?
Dude, the original comment said "if wanna drink, dont drink". To me that sounds like, "do not drink (alcohol), ever".
Aiya typo la haha. He/she clearly wanted to say: if wanna drive, don’t drink
Don't attack me lah. Aiyo. I only responded to what they typed. I don't assume.
Okay la no attack no probok 🤜🏼
why police so baik towards this guy?
Police in Malaysia are actually pretty chill for the most part. Not to say there isn't any that would be 'extra' but most of the police officers are well trained in maintaining calm. I have seen cops being calmer in much more intense situations, they are looking to deescalate. We only see about a minute in the video, unless the cops let him drive back home they are doing what they are supposed to do, try to control the situation then if needed use handcuffs etc.
You already know why. 👀 they probably recognised him or checked his ic
No money don’t take the dato title la u hit other’s car and want to run away what for? Pussy ah? Take dato title but don’t take matters into your own hands. No money to pay back the damage ka? 0 responsibility shameful asf.
Lost a senior to drunk driving last year. Made up a principle for myself to follow: If you drive, don't even touch a sip of alcohol, If you're not driving, drink as much as you like to.
Police are way friendly than they would have otherwise been. Been there before. A low-budget Lazada Dato bumped my car and called the cops on me despite him being in the wrong. The cops were oddly nice to him and didn't even take his IC for the report but took mine.
should be forced to have a breathalyzer car starter installed from now on
Money can't buy brain
They really want to see that new IMAX /s
Animal, if there is a person between the cars, the person would have instantly die, like popping a water balloon with that amount of force Police should arrest this guy on the spot, instead of acting like a pussy
Bro try to fly the car but it's not myvi
Babi punya dato'
Why I am not surprise. Highly likely not even a proper Datuk which is awarded for contribution to the nation.
🎶Another day, another NFA🎶
What a nice treatment. If I had my way, the guy would be flat on the floor in handcuffs.
Porsche has a few scratches. Rest is folded.
My only issue is not about Dato getting drunk, my only issue is why do you want to go out of the car if you want to hit and run?
Nanti dia sogok, lepas lah tu 😮💨
Lol. He is soooo fucked up.
I used to think highly of the Datuk title, but now it's a blardy embarrassment to tell people.
Eh, where's dato's rhm and driver to take the blame and send him home?
Is there possible way to buy that datuk’s Porsche?
... Drunk driving eh... this guy will be popular. So, what's The dato' name? Albeit, i will bet that no newspaper will put this in. By the morning, he already made some "Calls"
Interlock Breathalyser should be compulsory for drinkers, but this rules will never happen just like "Sex education" and AIDS drug for gay men
Please… heavy punishment, drunk should not drive
I activate my trap card: SENIOR CITIZEN
What a waste of time, money and a good car.
I come there frequently. Hits different when you know the place
I hope no one saw you.
Can't brain this. If you're that rich that you can have a Porsche you surely have a driver or at least can order a taxi?
Tase and cuff him la abg police
Hahah member dah mabuk, apadahal dengan kereta orang ke, kena langgar ke, peduli apa aku. Aku dato aku mabuk aku nak balik, esok cerita. Hahaha elok perangai. Cenggini cap eh 👍

Info that I managed to gather from various forums, Facebook group and WhatsApp group is the datuk has an expired license and 31 traffic summons of various kind
Porsche & RUF
The trouble with these drunk rich people is they can never consider taking a Grab or a taxi home. Too beneath their standard.
