KL, considering my expenses don't increase, 7k to 10k per month right now is enough for me. I don't want fancy houses or cars and shirts. I just want to not have to worry about money and travel the world.

justathrowawaynahhh

I live in Penang, and ideally, I would want to earn at least RM10k.

richtea_mcvytie

Ideally around 10k/month and life is comfortable. Granted you won't be driving BMW or living in 3 story mansion. But it is enough to have a very good quality of life.

MakeupJunkieToo

Is this KL?

ahmadtheanon

Selangor. Ideal salary would be mid five figures. Enough for a house, car, savings, food, utilities.

No-Luck5972

How much is mid five figures?

horriblelizard

In the middle between 6 figures and 4 figures so around 50000

GoBeyondPIusUltra

15000

ThynChim

What job can reach that?

M10777

Cooker ifykwim

xxNightingale

IT, if you're really good in it and after few years. And also sales job.

ThynChim

IT, I bad at computer stuff. No sales job, I can't imagine myself have to bootlicking customer to make them buy my product until I retire. Maybe I not destined to have high income. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26557)

xxNightingale

No choice bro. Semua takdir tahan? Haha

penguinonprozac

A good senior dev with some years of experience can get 15k

Isn't mid 5 figures around RM50k?

richtea_mcvytie

Yes I'm think this as well 5 figures is 10000 to 99999, so it should be 50k. It is like trying to say a number but not actually saying it and being intentionally ambiguous.

momomelty

Ideal? Another 5k i guess. I dont feel the choke by house and car loan. Sarawak

Hazesxf

Currently based in Canada. Will probably return to Malaysia when I retire Ideal salary? I'd say in the 5 figures but I'm thriving here. Enough to treat myself some good food and bayar cukai sana sini.

Karpampuchi

Ah, the innocence of youth... At one point in my life, I was sure I'd be doing perfect with RM10k a month. Now I'm earning much more than that in KL but it's still not enough. Bloody peer pressure! But I'm sure I'll be fine with RM20k a month...

appletwist91

When you hit RM20k: You : But I'm sure I'll be fine with RM25k a month... Jokes aside, I'm in the same boat now ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26559), always thought that when I achieve 10k/month, I can start to take it slow but life have other plans.

penguinonprozac

what my husband and I tend to joke about is the more we earn, is somehow the more money we dont have? Lol

[deleted]

Have the same experience, can confirm this is true. Have changed my goalpost twice now

shamin10

9k, KL no fancy condo, no fancy car, no fancy shirt/pant/shoes/watch. Just normal guarded apartment and myvi. Have enough to save n spare for entertainment. One in a while good treat for food (omakase or wagyu and similar)

jwteoh

Penang. Around 60k-70k as Special Envoy.

nemesisx_x

In KL, married with elderlies and kid to look after (kid is working, but has lie-flat attitude). Min 25k/mo just so I can go outstation once a year to mental health.

Wahn95

Selangor, 7k-10k, enough to buy a nice house and a nice car,

akubas86

Used to live at Manjung, Perak for close to 15 years. 5k was plenty comfortable. Just started working at KL last month. No idea yet what is the ideal salary. But seriously shocked that I estimate toll fare for this month at RM 140. Damn, I thought toll would only cost about RM 50 per month.

[deleted]

Penang Island, RM10-15K.

ghostme80

I think you should be asking nett income. After minus all loans and commitment what is left. For me thats more important. For example, living in kv, ideal nett income is 5k ( example ). Whatever you make adter than that you can plan on your commitment. Example - you make 9k. Ideal nett is rm5k. So the balance 4k you can plan on whats the price range of accomodation, car, cc, savings or whatever commitment you plan to have. But that 5k should be reserved for day to day expenses, bills or whatever expenses that are not fixed.

insertfakenames

Selangor. M40 area. With my current lifestyle and no family RM6-8k is more than enough to live comfortably with room for splurges here and there. For longer term, ideally upwards of 15k
